Tim Allen has issued a message to Toy Story fans after admitting that he's already been in the recording booth for the anticipated sequel. The actor, who famously voices Buzz Lightyear and has done so since the franchise's inception in 1995, has confirmed that he is back on board for the fifth chapter. He also assured fans that Tom Hanks will be donning his cowboy hat once again as the voice of Woody in the much-loved Pixar creation. Allen, also known for hits like Home Improvement and The Santa Clause, is gearing up to appear alongside Kat Dennings in a fresh sitcom titled Shifting Gears. Set to hit screens in 2025, the show will cast him as the widowed proprietor of a car restoration business, airing on ABC and Hulu stateside, with UK Disney+ distribution still hanging in the balance. During a promotional interview for his new series, Allen let slip to Collider about his involvement in the latest Toy Story installment: "Well, I don't know what I'm supposed to say. Yes, I just did the first five-hour session for Buzz, probably a week ago." Toy Story's enduring charm isn't lost on critics, with none of the four films scoring under 97% on Rotten Tomatoestwo of which achieved a coveted perfect rating. Pixar aspires to have the fifth movie out by 2026, and judging by Allen's update, things are progressing apace in the animation studio, reports the Daily Record . The star also seemed to make a reassuring vow to the loyal following that Toy Story's legacy is in good hands, saying: "It's a very, very clever story. Do you wanna do five of these? I don't really believe it's about the money. I'm sure they want it to be a success, but that's not why they did it. Had they not come up with a brilliant script, they wouldn't have done it and they wouldn't have called me and Tom (Hanks)." Continuing with excitement, he shared insights into the recording process: "It's really clever. It was really a struggle to get, and then maybe two hours in, I was doing Buzz. I'm so blessed to be Buzz Lightyear, to be honest. "It's gonna be fun. I think we're a year out. I've gotten up to the third act. We'll do the third act. And then, we'll go back and clean it. And then, I'll do it about five more times. It's a really good story, guys. It's really good." While details on the storyline are scant, the studio has hinted that the treasured characters, including Buzz, Woody, Jessie and the rest of the crew, will face challenges from new technology encroaching on their world. Andrew Stanton, of Toy Story 1 and 4 fame as well as Finding Nemo and WALL-E, is set to pen and helm the project. Toy Story 1-4 is streaming on Disney+.
Donald Hand Jr. scores 29 with 10 rebounds, Boston College beats Fairleigh Dickinson 78-70From Ndubuisi Orji, Abuja The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said President Bola Tinubu media chat has further confirmed the insensitivity of the Federal Government to the hardship in the country. In a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, PDP said President Tinubu’s stance on the fuel subsidy removal confirmed the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration’s disconnect from the welfare of citizens. President Tinubu, during the media chat, had said he had no regret ending the fuel subsidy regime at the inception of his administration. However, the opposition party noted it is disturbing that while the government has failed to account for the proceeds from the fuel subsidy removal, Nigerians are being subjected to hardship on account of the policy. The PDP urged President Tinubu to take a road trip from Abuja to Lagos as well as visit any market or take a walk on the street of any city in the country to appreciate the real situation in Nigeria rather than relying on fabricated statistics being bandied by officials of his government. “The declaration by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu that he has no regrets for the sudden removal of fuel subsidy without any cushioning measures to mitigate the resultant crippling effect on the productive sector, high cost of living and associated hardship which is now driving citizens to extreme poverty and early death also confirms APC’s disconnection from the primary purpose of government which is the welfare and security of the citizens. “It is instructive that President Tinubu in the chat admitted that Nigerians are bearing the brunt of the failure and inability of the APC’s administration under his watch to effectively police and secure our nation’s borders to prevent the smuggling of petroleum products to neighboring countries. “Nigerians are appalled that instead of admitting failure and seeking solutions, Mr. President again claimed that the nation’s economy has improved under his watch when in reality the situation has worsened with comatose productive sector, deteriorating value of the Naira at N1,700 to the Dollar, 34.6 percent inflation and 40 percent unemployment rates in the last 18 months. “The widespread food stampede in various parts of the country which recently led to the death of about 80 Nigerians shows that our nation is indeed in perilous time under the APC. “The PDP holds that there is no hope in sight under the APC given its failure to embark on meaningful investments in critical sectors including agriculture and food production, electricity, petroleum and gas, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises, which are the real drivers of the national economy. “Also, alarming is President Tinubu’s clai m that Nigerians can now freely and safely travel by road despite the horrible reality of banditry, kidnapping and armed robbery as well as the worsened condition of highways across the country under the APC.”

Dear Eric: When my only son and his wife got married and had kids, I was informed that Christmas Day would just be for them to celebrate. I said OK. For decades, I have given my son and his family (wife and two kids) really nice gifts for Christmas. We are talking about hundreds of dollars. For a while, I would receive a small gift, such as a bottle of homemade vanilla, a rose-scented tin of salve made by a friend of the wife or a coffee cup or some such as a gift from the family. Same with my birthday. I have never received a gift from the grandkids. Last year, I let them know I would no longer be “exchanging” gifts with the parents but gifts to the grandkids (who are now teenagers with jobs) will continue. That year, I got them electronics and hoodies. I got nothing from anyone. Not even an acknowledgement from the kids. I have always had to deliver the gifts or call to see if they received them. This year, it is only going to be a Christmas card. Am I being overly sensitive? — Empty Stocking Dear Stocking: No, you are not being overly sensitive. Every family has their own traditions and needs. And no one is obligated to give — or accept — a gift. But it sure does make me sad that your desire to make this holiday special isn’t being reciprocated. Part of it may be a misalignment of expectations. You’ve given generously, into the hundreds of dollars. I’m curious if your son and daughter-in-law have different values or wants around gifting that are either not being expressed or not being heard. They should tell you clearly. Similarly, when you decided to stop giving gifts to the adults, I’m curious if your expectations were that your son would realize that you weren’t getting what you wanted and make a change. It’s worth talking it through a little more but try to focus on the want behind the want. I suspect that what you’re craving is connection — and perhaps an invitation to the family Christmas. It makes sense that you’d try to show your love from a distance through gift-giving and it makes sense that it would hurt not to have it reciprocated. But perhaps the tradition of gifts is getting in the way on both sides. If you’d like to be invited or would like to find an alternate way of celebrating and being together, that’s a great gift to ask for. Dear Eric: I was riding my bicycle when, unbeknownst to me, my wallet fell out of my pocket. My driver’s license, credit cards and about $200 in cash were in the wallet. Later that day I received a telephone call from a cyclist who found my wallet on his ride and told me that I could come over to pick it up. What, if any, reward would be appropriate? I gave a $30 bottle of wine. — Grateful Cyclist Dear Cyclist: How lucky that your path crossed with such a good fellow citizen! Etiquette experts agree that the amount of a reward in situations like this is really up to you. So, the bottle of wine you gave works. My only suggestion, however, would be that, if this ever happens again (fingers crossed your wallet stays in your pocket from now on), you check with the recipient to make sure that they drink wine. It’s the thought that counts, but you don’t want your grateful efforts to put someone else in an uncomfortable or dangerous situation.
