This investigation was in relation to Nvidia's 2020 acquisition of Israeli firm Mellanox and some agreements made during the acquisition, the Chinese government said Monday. 26-year-old detained by police in connection with fatal shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO University of Pennsylvania graduate Luigi Mangione was detained by police as a "strong person of interest" in the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson after police found him carrying a pistol, a silencer, a mask and fake identification cards. Mangione had in his possession a suspected "ghost gun" — which lacks a serial member — capable of firing 9 mm rounds, authorities said. China trade in November misses expectations China's exports and imports both missed expectations in November, fueling worries over the health of the Chinese economy. Exports rose 6.7% in U.S. dollar terms from a year ago, sharply lower than the 12.7% growth in the previous month and missing forecasts of a 8.5% rise. Import data surprised with a decline of 3.9%, compared to a 0.3% rise expected by economists. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite pulled back from record highs Monday, with tech shares lagging. The tech-heavy Nasdaq shed 0.62%, while the S&P fell 0.61%. [PRO] Investing in mid-caps may be the way to go in 2025 Mid-cap stocks could be the sweet spot for investors in 2025, having been outperforming recently. Many investors expect further gains for mid-caps, which offer better quality businesses than small-caps, as well as stronger growth prospects than large-caps. Money Report ‘White gold' seen as pivotal to Europe's massive trade deal with South America Is this London's best kept cultural secret? A royal palace turned parking lot is reinventing itself — again Technology stocks have underpinned the impressive rally in US stocks this year. But they are not immune from the laws of gravity. Monday's session saw large technology stocks underperform the broader market. Oracle missed forecasts and AMD was downgraded by Bank of America . But perhaps the biggest news of the day concerned Nvidia, whose shares have surged an astounding 188% this year. China's State Administration for Market Regulation opened an investigation into the chipmaker in relation to the acquisition of Mellanox and some agreements made during the acquisition. The news prompted Nvidia's shares to fall 2.6% overnight. The development suggests that while the year is ending, the fight for tech dominance around the world may just be intensifying. Competition between the U.S. and China over chipmaking is rising, with the Biden administration on Dec. 2 announcing a slew of curbs targeting semiconductor toolmakers. China then retaliated by banning exports of critical minerals such as gallium, and on the same day, four of the country's top industry associations said Chinese companies should be wary of buying U.S. chips as they were "no longer safe" and buy locally instead. Previous trade skirmishes have centered on areas such as metals, farm products, and automobiles. With a tougher stance on China expected from the incoming Trump administration, could the next trade war instead be focused around chips, which arguably have permeated every facet of our lives? — CNBC's Samantha Subin contributed to this report. PINKHAM'S GRANT, N.H. — A large avalanche in New Hampshire's White Mountains was captured on video on Tuesday. The slide, recorded by the Mount Washington Avalanche Center, occurred on Hillman's Highway after several inches of fresh snow. According to the avalanche center, the slide was triggered naturally. Persistent wind had caused an additional buildup of snow on the mountainside, and weather conditions are expected to create an elevated risk for avalanches in the coming days. The center has not begun its five-scale daily avalanche forecast and is reminding members of the public to be ready to make their own assessments of snow conditions. "If you are unsure of how to make these assessments, hiring a guide is a great option to drastically reduce your risk," the Avalanche Center wrote in a social media post. The avalanche center regularly leads rescue missions when hikers and backcountry skiers are caught in avalanches.

Lidl Ireland fans rushing to buy new ‘robot’ dupe perfect for doing household chores – and it’s €140 cheaperNexa Resources Announces Closing Transaction of Pukaqaqa Project Sale to OlympicViwoods had earlier launched its AiPaper e-note device which it claimed to be the smartest e-note device ever launched. Now the good news here is that the E Ink tablet can be bought right now for $90 less via which does its bit to bring the price down for what otherwise can be considered to be quite a bit on the higher side. The discount is in the form of a Black Friday coupon. Once applied, the tablet can be had for $499.99. Coming to its specs, the comes with a 10.65-inch E Ink Carta display having 2560 x 1920 resolution. That comes down to 300 pixels per inch, which is enough to make the texts and images to look extremely sharp and crisp. What makes the display unique is that it is Mobius based, which makes it flexible and hence more durable compared to the glass substrate-based display that is rigid and is hence more prone to break. The monochrome E Ink display has a glare-free paper-like feel which makes it extremely eye-friendly. It also remains perfectly readable even under bright sunlight conditions. However, there is no front light available, which means the display remains usable only in the presence of ambient light. The accompanying pen offers 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity and can be used for jotting down notes or draw with perfect ease. Under the hood lies an octa-core 2.0GHz processor that is paired with a 4 GB RAM and 128 GB storage. It runs the more recent Android 13 OS version and supports the installation of third-party applications. Power comes from a 4000 mAh battery which should last a week or two comfortably though that depends on the manner the tablet is put to use. It measures 247 x 178 x 4.5mm which makes it thinner than the reMarkable 2 Pro which measures 4.7mm. At 370 grams, it is also among the lightest as well. For reference, the reMarkable 2 Pro weighs 403.5 grams. The Black Friday offer will remain live from Nov. 21 till Dec. 2nd 2024. With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. The motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot, and I'll likely make a film sometime in the future.

UBS starts coverage on gov service providers stock amid spending uncertaintyAnnouncement Comes as Two Long-Time Executives Retire TROY, Mich. , Dec. 26, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- 365 Retail Markets, the global leader in unattended retail technologies, today announced the appointment of Anton Rakushkin as Chief Technology Officer and Bill Reidy as VP of Sales for North America . These strategic hires come as two long-time leaders, Joe Rogan and John Chidiac , retire after years of dedicated service to the company. Rakushkin comes to 365 with twenty years of experience in retail technology including time with Streamware Corporation and Crane Connectivity Solutions. He holds impressive accomplishments in the areas of vending management, including the architecture of Vendmax, an extensively used VMS system across the industry. His achievements also include innovations around data exchange and tools for operator success such as industry-first pre-kit and dynamic scheduling features. Rakushkin has had notable success working closely with both customers and other solution providers to create widely adopted industry standards. "I am excited to bring my experience to the world-class team at 365 and look forward to elevating their impressive accomplishments across the industry as well as extending that success to more opportunities. By understanding customer needs and providing solutions that will drive the industry forward, we will accomplish great things," said Rakushkin. Reidy joins 365 Retail Markets with over thirty years of experience in sales leadership and executive management. Throughout his career, he has successfully developed and grown businesses across various verticals and industries. Reidy has cultivated a deep understanding of the SaaS industry by advancing through prominent firms, including well-known players in the automotive technology space, such as KPA, Netsertive, and DealerMatch. During his time at vAuto, he designed highly effective sales and operations management processes and built a renowned national sales team. When asked about his optimism around 365's growth potential, Reidy noted, "I'm fortunate to be joining a well-established team at 365 Retail Markets, and I believe that through coaching and establishing the right processes, we can expand our opportunities immensely. I am looking forward to elevating the reach and success of this organization through the help of a world-class sales team." Joe Hessling , CEO at 365 Retail Markets, expressed his excitement about the leadership additions. "Bringing experts like Anton and Bill onto the team is essential to keep up with the intense growth we are seeing in our unattended retail business. We have heard for years that the market is tired of the lack of investment by the legacy VMS providers and the lack of consumer-focused features from the me-too payment terminal providers. Anton and Bill will be focused on being sure 365 remains the global leader for decades to come." Joe Rogan retires after 10 years with 365. While currently serving as Chief Strategy Officer, he has previously served as Chief Financial Officer and an early advisor and Board Member helping define nearly every successful initiative in the company's history. Joe will be missed greatly by his industry colleagues and friends at 365 but will remain in an advisory role in his retirement. John Chidiac's decade of service to 365 comes with many accomplishments in roles as Chief Operating Officer and later as President of International, spearheading international growth. His dedication to 365 has positioned the long-term success internationally and his relationships with many in the industry has gained him immense respect among his peers and colleagues. Hessling acknowledged their contributions, stating, "I would like to thank both Joe and John for helping me turn 365 into what it is today. Taking the leap to join over 10 years ago was a risk neither had to take and their impact on 365, me, and the industry has been something that most don't ever get the chance to do in their careers. I will miss working with them both but am happy for them in their next stage of life." Both retirements are effective December 31, 2024 and 365 Retail Markets thanks both individuals for their incredible dedication and commitment to the organization and industry.
