SKOPJE, North Macedonia (AP) — A political party in North Macedonia on Saturday demanded authorities ban social networks whose content incites violence and self-destructive behavior after several young people were seriously injured in connection with the popular “Superman challenge” on TikTok. Health authorities said at least 17 students, ages 10 to 17, were brought to hospitals in the capital Skopje and other towns over the past week with broken bones, contusions and bruises. The children were injured after being thrown into the air by their friends to fly like superheroes and get applause on the internet. The Liberal-Democratic Party, which was part of the left-led coalition that ruled the country from 2016 to earlier in 2024, issued a press statement Saturday strongly condemning “the irresponsible spread of dangerous content on social media, such as the latest TikTok ‘challenge’ known as ‘Superman,’ which has injured six children across (the country) in the past 24 hours.” “The lack of adequate control over the content of social media allows such ‘games’ to reach the most vulnerable users,” the party statement said. It demanded the “immediate introduction of measures to ban content that incites violence and self-destructive behavior, increase surveillance, and sanction platforms that enable dangerous trends.” North Macedonia’s education minister Vesna Janevska said students should focus on education, not TikTok challenges. “The ban on mobile phones in schools will not have an effect. Phones will be available to children in their homes, neighborhoods and other environments,” she said. Psychologists have warned that the desire to be “in” with the trends on social networks, combined with excessive use of mobile phones, is the main reason for the rise in risky behaviors among children. They urged parents and schools to talk with students.g star 28

Liverpool beat Jude Bellingham's Real Madrid 2-0 at Anfield in a brilliant Champions League performance Jude Bellingham admits Liverpool "wanted it more" than Real Madrid in his side's 2-0 defeat to the Reds at Anfield . The England midfielder struggled as the Reds overwhelmed Carlo Ancelotti's side with goals from Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo. The victory keeps Liverpool top of the Champions League group stage standings with a 100 percent record on 15 points, with Madrid down in 24th on just six points, having lost three times already. And Bellingham, who was a target for Liverpool before he moved to Real in 2023, admitted that Arne Slot's side were better throughout. He told TNT Sports: “From the first minute they took control of the game. We never really maximised the spells we had in possession, when we got the ball back we tried to force it. They kept control. They kept us in a place where we couldn't harm them. "They were just more up for it, which is really disappointing to say. It's a bad result against probably the best performing team in Europe. It's no disgrace to come here and lose, but we're not happy with how we performed. But it's important we use it in the right way. On Kylian Mbappe, who missed a penalty, he added: "It's a big moment in the game. He's a wonderful player, but the pressure that holds, because of how good he is, is huge. The penalty is not the reason why we lost the game. We weren't good enough on the night. They were better than us. It's as simple as that."Man loses Rs 46L in online trading scam

NEWCASTLE, England (Reuters) -West Ham United eased the pressure on new manager Julen Lopetegui with a surprise 2-0 victory away to in-form Newcastle United in the Premier League on Monday. Thomas Soucek gave West Ham the lead in the 10th minute with a header and the visitors reached halftime still in front despite the hosts having a succession of good chances. Newcastle began the second half on top but were rocked on their heels when Aaron Wan-Bissaka broke forward to fire West Ham’s second after 53 minutes — his first goal for the club. West Ham grew in confidence and thoroughly deserved their best victory of what has been a disappointing season so far under Spaniard Lopetegui. They remain 14th place with 15 points while Newcastle are in 10th place with 18 points. Former Spain and Real Madrid manager Lopetegui’s style of play has struggled to win over West Ham’s fans and two poor performances before the international break left his side only three points above the relegation zone. Some media reports suggested Lopetegui was two games from losing his job but the his side responded with an energetic display and clinical display to send the away fans home happy. “I said we needed a performance before the game and I said we needed to go out and show it and I think we did that,” West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen said. “Newcastle always score at home so to keep a clean shoot and score twice. We had to be brave. I think this was more like the level that it takes to play for this club. “I think this is a really big turning point in the season.” Had Newcastle not had an early goal by Alexander Isak ruled out for offside, it could have been a tough night for West Ham. But shortly afterwards, Soucek was left completely unmarked in a crowded penalty area to plant a header into the goal from a corner and West Ham were immediately galvanised. Newcastle, who had won three successive games in all competitions, should have levelled with Sean Longstaff heading a decent chance straight at West Ham keeper Lukasz Fabianski and Lewis Hall driving a shot across the face of the goal. Anthony Gordon also should have done better than to shoot straight at Fabianski after a defensive error while Isak volleyed a chance just wide after great work by Bruno Guimaraes. West Ham’s second goal took the sting completely out of the hosts. Wan-Bissaka made a powerful run forward from deep and was played in on goal by Bowen’s astute pass before placing his shot past Nick Pope and in off the post. Newcastle failed to muster much of a response as they missed the chance to move into sixth place. “We were the dominant team at halftime and the game would have been very different if we had equalised in the first half,” Newcastle manager Eddie Howe said. Michigan upsets No. 2 Ohio State 13-10 for Wolverines' 4th straight win over bitter rival COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Dominic Zvada kicked a 21-yard field goal with 45 seconds left and Michigan stunned No. 2 Ohio State 13-10, likely ending the Buckeyes’ hopes of returning to the Big Ten title game next week. Late in the game, Kalel Mullings broke away for a 27-yard run, setting up the Wolverines at Ohio State’s 17-yard line with two minutes remaining. The drive stalled at the 3, and Zvada came on for the chip shot. The Gamecocks won their sixth straight game, including four over ranked opponents, and may have played themselves into the College Football Playoff's 12-team field. They wouldn't have done it without Sellers, who spun away from a defender in the backfield, broke through the line and cut left on his way to the winning score. Sellers rushed for 166 yards and threw for 164 in South Carolina's second straight win at Clemson. Sculptors offer advice LONDON (AP) — One art critic compared the new Harry Kane bronze statue to a bulging-jawed comic strip character. The infamous Cristiano Ronaldo bust in 2017 gave the chiseled soccer star a chubby face and goofy smile. Sculptors are offering tips to avoid pitfalls. London-based Hywel Pratley says sculptors must first get the subject's profile correct “and then you can go forward with more confidence.” Probably best to avoid smiles, Pratley adds because it's “really difficult to do teeth looking good in sculpture." London-based sculptural conservator Lucy Branch suggests an open vote because the public tends "to know whether the artist has hit the nail on the head.” Colorado State advances to MW volleyball final and will take the court against San Jose State LAS VEGAS (AP) — Colorado State coach Emily Kohan said her team will take the floor against San Jose State in the Mountain West volleyball championship rather than become the latest team to forfeit to the Spartans. The top-seeded Rams advanced to the tournament final on Friday by beating San Diego State 20-25, 25-23, 25-21, 25-23. An automatic bid to the 64-team NCAA Tournament is on the line in Saturday’s final. Several schools have forfeited to San Jose State this season. In a lawsuit recently filed by players from various schools against the conference and San Jose State officials, plaintiffs cited unspecified reports asserting there was a transgender player on the San Jose State team.Jake Paul and Mike Tyson have been handed a suspension by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) following their much-anticipated bout. The pair received the mandatory minimum suspension period, which in this case is 24 days, after their Arlington fight. TDLR rules stipulate that each fighter must rest for at least three days per round fought. As the YouTuber-turned-boxer and the former undisputed heavyweight champion only fought for eight rounds , they will be suspended for 24 days, as reported by MMA Junkie. Amanda Serrano and Katie Taylor are also facing bans. Their fight went the distance, with Taylor emerging victorious via a unanimous decision, resulting in both stars being sidelined for over a month with a 45-day suspension. Despite Serrano and Taylor's fight showcasing incredible determination and strength, Paul and Tyson's main event seemed to lack the same intensity. After an initial burst from the 58 year old Tyson, he appeared to tire quickly, allowing Paul to capitalise on his opponent's dwindling stamina. Following eight rounds of uninspiring boxing, the 27 year old was declared the winner by unanimous decision, with Paul paying respect to Tyson in the final moments of the last round. In a post-fight address to his fans, Paul apologised for not knocking out Tyson, despite having previously promised to do so. "I'm sorry I didn't knock him out," Paul said, with his entourage nodding in agreement that he had taken the honourable route by not flooring the 58 year old icon. He confessed to holding back his punches when he noticed Tyson flagging as the bout progressed. "After I'd seen him tired I didn't want to put too much hurt on him, but I wanted the fans to get a good experience," he added. Paul also mentioned that squaring off against Tyson felt "different" from his previous fights, highlighting that a more composed mindset allowed him to anticipate Tyson's moves and prepare more effectively. "Fighting in a stadium, it is less personal and less loud so it is less nerve racking," he observed. "Arenas are harder to fight in. Walk out, I was cool, calm and collected. "First round I was gauging his speed, and I managed to get his time pretty quick, saw how I could tag him up and touch him. The rest was pretty much history, I just out boxed him and had fun." With Paul's status as a major attraction in boxing confirmed by over 100 million viewers at one point, the young fighter feels he's earned the right to take on some of the sport's biggest names. Consequently, Paul is confident that he could become a champion in the next few years following his victory over Tyson. "I think it could happen in the next 24 months. I truly, truly believe in my skills and my ability and my power. And the cruiserweight division is seemingly open for the taking on that timeline," he declared.

Adames, who had been floated as a possible option to fill an infield gap for New York, is now off the market, amplifying the pressure on the Yankees to go all in for Soto. Adames Was a Viable Plan B Adames, 29, had been seen as an attractive option for the Yankees to help bolster their infield with his combination of power and defensive versatility. Coming off a strong 2024 season in which he posted 4.8 WAR over 161 games, hitting .251/.331/.462 with 32 home runs and 112 RBIs, Adames was one of the most productive infielders available this offseason. For the Yankees, Adames represented not only an offensive upgrade but also a defensive improvement over some of their existing options. Losing him to the San Francisco Giants leaves the Yankees with fewer fallback plans and underscores the importance of securing Soto’s services. The Soto-or-Bust Scenario With Adames out of the picture, the Yankees are now even more reliant on their ability to win the Juan Soto sweepstakes. Soto, 26, is the kind of generational talent the Yankees simply cannot afford to let slip away. In 2024, Soto slashed .288/.419/.569 with 41 home runs, 109 RBIs, and a staggering 8.1 WAR, further cementing his status as one of the most valuable players in baseball. The Yankees’ front office, led by managing partner Hal Steinbrenner, has made Soto the centerpiece of their offseason strategy, and for good reason. Soto isn’t just a short-term fix; he’s the type of player who can anchor a franchise for over a decade. Missing out on him would not only create a production void in their lineup but also a branding and marketing hit that the team can ill afford as it looks to reassert its dominance in Major League Baseball. The Mets Are Lurking The challenge for the Yankees is that the New York Mets, flush with cash and hungry to make a splash, are just as aggressive in their pursuit of Soto. Mets owner Steve Cohen has already proven he’s willing to push the limits of spending, and with several big-name players departing, the Mets have the financial flexibility to outbid nearly anyone. Jon Heyman of the New York Post recently noted that one of the Mets’ biggest challenges in landing Soto is their lack of a strong supporting cast to entice him. While Soto has already experienced a winning culture and high-level competition in the Bronx, the Mets are in a retooling phase. However, that won’t stop Cohen from making a significant financial offer, which means the Yankees will need to pull out all the stops to secure Soto’s commitment. A Crucial Decision Looms With Soto expected to make his decision in the coming days, if not hours, the Yankees find themselves at a critical juncture. Adames’ signing with San Francisco has removed a key alternative, leaving the Yankees in a position where pivoting to multiple players may no longer yield the same level of production. Losing out on Soto could force the Yankees to scramble for other solutions, such as Cody Bellinger or Anthony Santander, but those players don’t bring the same consistency or star power that Soto offers. Simply put, Soto is the only player on the market who can transform the Yankees from a playoff contender to a World Series favorite overnight. NoneKentucky will aim to improve upon its best start in seven seasons when it hosts Western Kentucky on Tuesday night in Lexington, Ky., in the final game of the BBN Invitational. The Wildcats (5-0) are ranked No. 8 in the latest Associated Press poll and are setting impressive offensive milestones even for a program as tradition-rich as Kentucky, which includes eight national championships. The Wildcats have scored 97 or more points in their first four home games for the first time in program history and eclipsed the 100-point mark in three of those games. Their lone trip out of state was a solid 77-72 victory over Duke in a matchup of top-10 teams in Atlanta. Kentucky has also made at least 10 three-pointers in each of its first five games of a season for the first time ever. "I think Kentucky attracts good people," Kentucky coach Mark Pope said after the Wildcats' 108-59 win over Jackson State on Friday. "It's the one place in all college basketball where you represent just a fanbase in a different, unique way." Otega Oweh and Koby Brea have led the Wildcats' early scoring outburst. Oweh, who is averaging 16.2 points per game, had 21 points on 8-for-12 shooting against Jackson State. "He gets us off to unbelievable starts every night," Pope told reporters after that game. "He's probably been our most consistent guy in games." Brea, who scored 22 points against Jackson State and is averaging 16.0 points per game, is leading the nation in 3-point accuracy at 74.1 percent. As a team, the Wildcats are shooting 42.3 percent from beyond the arc. And the few times they miss, Amari Williams has been doing the dirty work on the glass, averaging 10.8 boards in addition to 9.6 points per game. Kentucky faces a different challenge than it's had to contend with so far in the Hilltoppers (3-2), who have won three in a row after losing their first two games to Wichita State and Grand Canyon. Their up-tempo play hasn't exactly resulted in great offensive output, but in the Hilltoppers' 79-62 win over Jackson State on Wednesday, they shot 45.2 percent from 3-point range (14 for 31). "I was happy to see a lot of different guys contribute tonight and, hopefully, get their feet under them a little bit and get some confidence," said Western Kentucky coach Hank Plona, who is in his first season as head coach. "Obviously, Tuesday will be quite a test and challenge for us and we'll need them to be at their absolute best." Western Kentucky has an experienced group, which returned mostly intact from last season. The team is led by Conference USA first-team selection Don McHenry, who is leading the team with 17.2 points and 2.2 steals per game. McHenry is one of four Hilltoppers with scoring averages in double figures. Julius Thedford (11.4 points per game) and Babacar Faye (15.0) are each shooting 40 percent or better from 3-point range. Western Kentucky also figures to challenge the Wildcats on the boards as it enters the game ranked in the top 25 in defensive rebounding (30.4 per game). Faye leads the Hilltoppers in that department, averaging 7.8 rebounds per game and figures to battle Williams inside. "We're not the biggest team in the world, but our depth and our quickness are our strengths," Plona said. --Field Level Media

(AP) — Joseph Paintsil and Dejan Joveljic scored in the first half, and the LA Galaxy won their record sixth MLS Cup championship with a 2-1 victory over the New York Red Bulls on Saturday. After striking twice in the first 13 minutes of the final with goals from their star forwards, the Galaxy nursed their lead through a scoreless second half to raise their league’s biggest trophy for the first time since 2014. MLS’ most successful franchise struggled through most of the ensuing decade, even finishing 26th in the 29-team league last year. But the Galaxy turned everything around this season with a high-scoring new lineup that finished second in the Western Conference and then streaked through the playoffs with a whopping 18 goals in five games to win another crown. Sean Nealis scored for the seventh-seeded Red Bulls, whose improbable charge through the playoffs ended one win shy of its first Cup championship. With the league’s youngest roster, New York fell just short of becoming the lowest-seeded team to win MLS’ playoff tournament under first-year German coach Sandro Schwarz. Galaxy goalkeeper John McCarthy made four saves to win his second MLS title in three seasons. He was the MVP of the 2022 MLS Cup Final for the Galaxy’s crosstown rival, Los Angeles FC. The Galaxy won this title without perhaps their most important player. Riqui Puig, the playmaking midfielder from Barcelona who ran their offense impressively all season long, tore a ligament in his knee last week in the Western Conference final. Puig watched the game in a suit, but his teammates hadn’t forgotten him: After his replacement, Gastón Brugman, set up LA’s opening goal with a superb pass, Paintsil held up Puig’s jersey to their fans during the celebration. Paintsil put the Galaxy ahead in the ninth minute when he ran onto that sublime pass from Brugman and pounded home his 14th MLS goal — including four in the playoffs — in the Ghanaian forward’s outstanding first season. Just four minutes later, Joveljic sprinted past four New York defenders and chipped home the 21st goal of his outstanding year as the Galaxy’s striker. Nealis got New York on the scoreboard in the 28th minute when he volleyed home a ball that got loose in LA’s penalty area after a corner. The Galaxy’s usually shaky defense gave up another handful of good chances before reaching halftime with a tenuous lead. The second half was lively, but scoreless. Red Bulls captain Emil Forsberg hit the outside of the post in the 72nd minute, while Gabriel Pec and Galaxy substitute Marco Reus nearly converted chances a few moments later. The ball got loose again in the Galaxy’s penalty area in the third minute of extra time, but two Red Bulls couldn’t finish. The Galaxy bench rushed onto the field and prematurely celebrated a victory in the seventh minute of injury time, only to be herded back off for another 30 seconds of play. The Galaxy finished 17-0-3 this season at their frequently renamed suburban stadium, where the sellout crowd of 26,812 for the final included several robust cheering sections of traveling Red Bulls supporters hoping to see their New Jersey-based club’s breakthrough on MLS’ biggest stage. The Galaxy’s Greg Vanney became the fourth coach to win an MLS title with two clubs. The former Galaxy player also won it all with Toronto in 2017. The club famous for employing global stars from David Beckham and Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Robbie Keane and Javier “Chicharito” Hernández rebuilt itself this season with lesser-known young talents from around the world. The Galaxy signed Pec from Brazil and the Ghanaian Paintsil out of Belgium, and the duo combined with incumbent Serbian striker Joveljic to form a potent attack that could outscore almost any MLS opponent. But the Galaxy also relied heavily on Puig, their Catalan catalyst and one of MLS’ best players. Puig stayed in last week’s game after injuring his knee, and he even delivered the decisive pass to Joveljic for the game’s only goal. ___ AP soccer: https://apnews.com/soccer Advertisement Advertisement

With almost 1,000 horsepower and a 0-60 mph time of just 2.4 seconds, Audi’s electric flagship joins the electric supercar ranks, where efficiency meets performance. The 2025 e-tron GT family now includes two models: the S e-tron GT as an impressive entry point and the headline-grabbing RS e-tron GT Performance.
