Share Tweet Share Share Email What if the biggest financial crisis you’ve ever known turned into the greatest investment opportunity of your life? Imagine being in 1973, during the economic crash, where chaos reigned supreme. Stocks tanked, inflation soared, and people scrambled to cut losses. Yet, legends like Warren Buffett thrived by buying undervalued stocks amid the panic. Fast forward to today, and history’s lesson is clear—opportunity hides in chaos. In the ever-evolving world of meme coins, BTFD Coin (BTFD) mirrors this strategy by encouraging you to “Buy the Dip.” With its presale storming past $4.3 million and a community-driven approach, BTFD is rewriting the playbook for meme coins with its BIG50 bonus code that unlocks stage 7 price in the ongoing presale stage. Alongside the likes of Just a Chill Guy (CHILLGUY) and Dogs (DOGS), BTFD is proving that meme coins aren’t just fun—they’re formidable investments. Let’s break it down. BTFD Coin: Turning Dips into Opportunities BTFD Coin is redefining the rules of presales, offering a rare chance to purchase tokens in Stage 12 at the unbeatable Stage 7 price of $0.000064. This opportunity is not just exciting but potentially life-changing, with an expected ROI of 837.5% once the coin lists at $0.0006. By using the exclusive code “ BIG50 ,” investors can unlock this massive discount and position themselves for substantial gains. The discounted price aligns with BTFD Coin’s strategy of rewarding early adopters and creating buzz in the crypto market. For seasoned investors or those new to the crypto space, this rollback represents a golden chance to maximise returns with minimal risk. Don’t let this unique opportunity slip away—secure your spot in the presale, use the BIG50 code, and set the stage for your financial success. Opportunities like this are rare, and BTFD Coin is ready to deliver exceptional value to its growing community. BTFD Coin isn’t just a meme coin—it’s a movement. Inspired by the classic investing mantra, “ Buy the Dip ,” BTFD is for those who spot uncertain opportunities. The BTFD Coin’s presale has already sold over 57 billion tokens to over 6,300 holders, with analysts predicting even bigger moves post-launch. The BTFD Edge BTFD’s Play-to-Earn (P2E) game, introduced in Stage 10, is a game-changer. Although the beta version doesn’t yet reward players, it’s setting the stage for a vibrant gaming ecosystem. Players will soon earn tokens while enjoying an immersive experience with the Bulls Squad, the mascots symbolising resilience, creativity, and community strength. BTFD’s 90% APY staking program is a no-brainer for those looking to grow their holdings. Active since December 2, staking stabilises the ecosystem and offers hefty returns for long-term investors. Add in the referral programme, where top referrers earn 10% of purchases made through their codes, and you’ve got a recipe for community-driven growth. Want numbers? Let’s say you invest $3,000 at the current price of $0.000064. That nets you a whopping 46,875,000 $BTFD. When the coin lists at $0.0006, your holdings shoot up to $28,125—nearly 9x your initial investment. Not bad, right? Dogs (DOGS): An Old Favourite Among Meme Enthusiasts DOGS has been around for a while, serving as a beacon for meme coin lovers. Its charm lies in its community-focused approach, attracting crypto enthusiasts looking for a less conventional investment path. DOGS has firmly established itself as a top-tier meme coin, thanks to its playful branding and utility-focused updates. What makes DOGS special? Beyond its meme appeal, it’s carved out a niche in the charity space, often donating portions of its profits to animal welfare initiatives. As a long-term player in the meme coin market, DOGS maintains its relevance by staying true to its roots while consistently innovating. Though it’s a reliable choice for meme coin collectors, its price volatility mirrors the unpredictable nature of the meme coin market. While DOGS remains an iconic project, its community is its backbone, driving its value. Just a Chill Guy (CHILLGUY): A Breath of Fresh Air CHILLGUY offers a more relaxed take on the meme coin scene. With its chill vibe and steady growth, it appeals to crypto investors who want to keep things light. But don’t let its laid-back branding fool you—CHILLGUY is serious about creating value for its holders. Known for its transparent approach, CHILLGUY thrives on fostering trust within its community. Its staking rewards, though not as high as BTFD’s, still provide a passive income stream for those willing to hold. CHILLGUY has also dabbled in NFTs, adding another layer of utility to its ecosystem. While it doesn’t offer the adrenaline rush of a fast-paced presale, CHILLGUY remains a solid option for long-term meme coin enthusiasts. Lessons from 1973: Buy the Dip, Change the Game The 1973–74 financial crash taught us that crisis breeds opportunity. When the Bretton Woods system collapsed and OPEC’s oil embargo quadrupled prices, markets tanked nearly 50%. But amidst the chaos, investors like Warren Buffett thrived by identifying undervalued assets. Today, BTFD Coin embraces this ethos. Its name is a rallying cry, urging investors to act decisively when others hesitate. With its presale offering Stage 7 pricing in Stage 12, this is your chance to follow in Buffett’s footsteps—grab the dip before the next big run. How to Join the BTFD Movement Ready to get started? Here’s how: Go to the Presale Page . Connect Your Wallet: Choose MetaMask, Trust Wallet, or another compatible option. Enter the Bonus Code: Use code “BIG50” to unlock the Stage 7 price. Input Purchase Details: Specify how much $BTFD you want to buy. Confirm Your Transaction: Complete the purchase and watch your wallet grow. The Final Words: Why BTFD Coin is Your Best Bet Today When it comes to the best new meme coins to invest in for long term, BTFD Coin checks all the boxes. Its impressive presale performance, staking rewards, and P2E game position it as more than just a meme—it’s a movement. While DOGS and CHILLGUY are excellent options for collectors, BTFD stands out as the ultimate choice for investors seeking significant returns. Don’t wait—join the presale now and secure your spot before the bull run takes off. Because in the world of meme coins, timing is everything, and BTFD Coin is your ticket to the top. (Reuters) – Data analytics firm Palantir Technologies and defense tech company Anduril Industries are in talks with about a dozen competitors to form a consortium that will jointly bid for U.S. government work, the Financial Times reported on Sunday. The consortium, which could announce agreements with other tech groups as early as January, is expected to include SpaceX, OpenAI, autonomous shipbuilder Saronic and artificial intelligence data group Scale AI, the newspaper said, citing several people with knowledge of the matter. “We are working together to provide a new generation of defence contractors,” a person involved in developing the group told the newspaper. The consortium will bring together the heft of some of Silicon Valley’s most valuable companies and will leverage their products to provide a more efficient way of supplying the U.S. government with cutting-edge defence and weapons capabilities, the newspaper added. Palantir, Anduril, OpenAI, Scale AI and Saronic did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment. SpaceX could not be immediately reached for a comment. Reuters reported earlier this month that President-elect Donald Trump’s planned U.S. government efficiency drive involving Elon Musk could lead to more joint projects between big defense contractors and smaller tech firms in areas such as artificial intelligence, drones and uncrewed submarines. Musk, who was named as a co-leader of a government efficiency initiative in the incoming government, has indicated that Pentagon spending and priorities will be a target of the efficiency push, spreading anxiety at defense heavyweights such as Boeing , Northrop Grumman , Lockheed Martin and General Dynamics . Musk and many small defense tech firms have been aligned in criticizing legacy defense programs like Lockheed Martin’s F-35 fighter jet while calling for mass production of cheaper AI-powered drones, missiles and submarines. Such views have given major defense contractors more incentive to partner with emerging defense technology players in these areas. He was at least 90 years old. “Known for his independent nature, Burt was a confirmed bachelor – an attitude he made clear during his earlier years at a crocodile farm,” Crocosaurus Cove wrote in social media posts. The aquarium added: “He wasn’t just a crocodile, he was a force of nature and a reminder of the power and majesty of these incredible creatures. While his personality could be challenging, it was also what made him so memorable and beloved by those who worked with him and the thousands who visited him over the years.” A saltwater crocodile, Burt was estimated to be more than 16 feet long. He was captured in the 1980s in the Reynolds River and became one of the most well-known crocodiles in the world, according to Crocosaurus Cove. The 1986 film stars Paul Hogan as the rugged crocodile hunter Mick Dundee. In the movie, American Sue Charlton, played by actress Linda Kozlowski, goes to fill her canteen in a watering hole when she is attacked by a crocodile before being saved by Dundee. Burt is briefly shown lunging out of the water. But the creature shown in more detail as Dundee saves the day is apparently something else. The Internet Movie Database says the film made a mistake by depicting an American alligator, which has a blunter snout. The Australian aquarium where Burt had lived since 2008 features a Cage of Death which it says is the nation’s only crocodile dive. It said it planned to honour Burt’s legacy with a commemorative sign “celebrating his extraordinary life and the stories and interactions he shared throughout his time at the park”.Transrail Lighting IPO: GMP, subscription status, should you apply as issue ends tomorrow

Nvidia ( NVDA ) is assuaging Wall Street’s concerns about any potential slowdowns in the production of its next-generation Blackwell chip, telling investors during the company’s earnings call on Wednesday that it’s on pace to exceed its previous revenue estimates for the current quarter. “Blackwell production is in full steam,” CEO Jensen Huang said during the call. “I think we're in great shape with respect to the Blackwell ramp at this point.” Prior to the earnings call, The Information reported on Nov. 17 that Nvidia was contending with overheating issues related to its Blackwell-based servers leading suppliers to adjust the design of the racks that house the servers. Nvidia responded at the time saying that design iterations are normal and expected. The report followed a separate Blackwell design issue that Nvidia addressed over the summer, which gave Wall Street pause about whether the chip would land on customers' doorsteps on time. Now Nvidia is saying that the chips aren’t just shipping, they’re in the hands of all of the company’s major partners as well. In Q3, Nvidia reported that cloud service providers, companies like Microsoft ( MSFT ), Amazon ( AMZN ), and Google ( GOOG , GOOGL ), made up 50% of the chipmaker’s data center revenue . Ensuring they’re getting Blackwell chips sooner than later is paramount for Nvidia’s continued growth. And the company appears to be doing just that. Read more: Nvidia nearly triples in value over 11 months: Is it time to invest? “With any product ramp, there's always a great deal of complexity, and Blackwell is no different,” Dan Flax, senior research analyst and managing director at Neuberger Berman, told Yahoo Finance. “And I think what's notable is that Nvidia and its partners are executing well. I think supply will improve over the next couple of months as they really scale Blackwell.” But there’s one problem that continues to bedevil Nvidia: supply constraints. The sheer number of companies jockeying for position to grab the AI behemoth’s chips makes it difficult to meet demand. “It is the case that demand exceeds supply,” Huang told analysts. “And that’s expected as we’re in the beginning of this generative AI revolution.” For some perspective, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg told investors during the company’s most recent earnings call that the social media giant is training its Llama 4 AI models on a server cluster made up of more than 100,000 Nvidia H100 chips . The H100 is Nvidia’s prior-generation Hopper AI accelerator. With Blackwell promising far better performance than Hopper, it only makes sense that massive AI companies like Meta ( META ) are angling to get as many of those chips as possible. As Blackwell production continues to ramp, though, the company should be able to ensure its most important customers get the chips they need. “Nvidia's supply chain and all the data center power capacity is increasing at a very rapid pace,” New Street Research technology infrastructure analyst Antoine Chkaiban told Yahoo Finance in a video interview. “And so here the conclusion is that there is no bottleneck preventing Nvidia from ... meeting consensus expectations next year.” In its Wednesday earnings announcement, Nvidia reported better-than-anticipated results on the top and bottom lines, beating Wall Street’s estimates and modestly topping the outlook for its current quarter. Revenue jumped 94% year over year, while Data Center sales climbed 112%. Despite that, shares fell in early trading Thursday. This isn’t the first time the market has turned on Nvidia after it posted huge revenue growth. Investors pulled back after the company’s last earnings report as well before rallying behind the stock in the following weeks and making Nvidia the largest publicly traded company in the world ahead of Apple earlier this month. Gamefam , a metaverse media company for Gen Z and Alpha communities, said in its second annual report that its branded campaigns on Roblox and Fortnite have exceeded 2.7 billion brand engagements in 2024. The State of Brands on Roblox and Fortnite report noted that Gamefam , which makes games on Roblox and Fortnite, is the No. 1 fastest-growing private company in the media industry in 2024, according to the Inc. 5,000 list. And it’s game portfolio has surpassed 45 billion gameplay sessions to date. Gamefam continued to lead with their development of fan-favorite standalone brand games, holding claim to five of the top 15 brand games of all time on Roblox. During the year, Gamefam’s Sonic Speed Simulator became the first brand game ever on Roblox to cross a billion visits, said Joe Ferencz, CEO of GamesBeat, in an interview with GamesBeat. “It was a huge growth year for the company. Our portfolio is now at 64 million daily visits, including either ownership or exclusive partnerships with a suite of the top 25 games on Roblox,” Ferencz said. “So that’s been really exciting to see that happen, and the reason why is that our live ops practices and our brand partnerships business are extremely attractive to top Roblox developers to collaborate with.” He added, “We’ve been able to connect not only our own portfolio, but also a partnership portfolio that extends into the tens of millions of daily visits and tens of millions of DAU so that’s been really exciting.” With Roblox and Fortnite exploding in popularity and their corresponding rise in meaningful advertising and marketing opportunities, 2024 proved to be a crucial year for brands, Hollywood studios and talent to think strategically and leverage these platforms to engage younger generations. As brand marketers become more familiar with activating on Roblox and Fortnite, Gamefam has led the charge in helping them shift their thinking from just showing up to building programs that generate measurable scale and impact. At the same time, Gamefam continued to generate return-on-investment for brands with custom integrations and activations within its portfolio of the most popular Roblox and Fortnite games that maintain massive player bases, generating 2.7 billion brand engagements in 2024 via this approach. Ferencz said the integrations can take a number of forms. With Ubisoft, Gamefam partnered to put the French game company’s Brawlhalla into popular Gamefam games. That guarantees that a certain size of audience will notice the brand integraiton, in comparison to starting a brand new game. “We have five of the top 15 Roblox games of all time, so we advise few brands to make a standalone game,” Ferencz said. “Roblox is still a relatively small revenue stream by global gaming standards for individual games. The entire payout pool for roadblocks will probably hit $1 billion to developers this year. It’s highly levered to the top-end games, and with a $1 billion payout pool total that’s still significantly smaller than any of the top individual mobile free to play games.” He added, “So we’re advising video game companies: You need to be on Roblox, but you need at this time to make sure that you’re driving back to your core business streams while starting to think about how Roblox can be a revenue generating platform in its current setup for you over the next five years.” Gamefam’s strategic vision for brands and ensuing success have led to a sea change with over 400 brands activating on Roblox to date, nearly doubling last year’s total and showing a 560% increase from 2022. Similarly, Fortnite saw massive brand interest with a 330% increase since 2022 in the number of brands that created games or integrations on Fortnite. “Roblox and Fortnite are the preferred media platforms for Gen Z & Alpha, and brands need to have a metaverse strategy in order to retain and gain cultural relevance with the younger generations,” said Ferencz. “With over half a billion monthly active users across Roblox and Fortnite, the time for brands to be on these platforms is now or they risk falling behind the competitors who are moving quickly to establish share of voice, mind and heart with today’s most valuable consumers and fans.” Gamefam’s 2024 achievements Topping the Charts and Reaching New Milestones with Hit Roblox Games : Gamefam was the developer and operator behind four of the top 10 brand games on Roblox (by total visits in 2024) including Mattel’s Barbie DreamHouse Tycoon (No. 1 brand game on Roblox in 2024), SEGA’s Sonic Speed Simulator (No. 2 in 2024, No. 1 brand game on Roblox of all time), Paramount’s SpongeBob Simulator (No. 8 in 2024), and Paramount’s TMNT Battle Tycoon (No. 9 in 2024). Maximizing Cultural Moments (like the Super Bowl) Through Roblox : Building on the Super Bowl LVII success (No. 1 Roblox concert of all time), Gamefam again partnered with the NFL and brought them together with Paramount to launch a five-game Super Bowl LVIII quest on Roblox. The NFL and Paramount reached the next generation of football fans as this 30-day activation became the No. 1 multi-game brand event on Roblox with over 75 million total visits and 985 million minutes of brand engagement. Bringing the Box Office & Streaming to the Metaverse : Gamefam worked with studios behind movies and shows to promote their content to millions of players on Roblox and Fortnite before, during and after their global premieres. Specifically, Gamefam worked with Sony Pictures to build a 4-game takeover on Roblox for The Garfield Movie, resulting in the biggest multi-game movie campaign on Roblox with 31 million visits. Additionally, Gamefam partnered with Paramount to develop the first playable story to promote the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles streaming series on Paramount+. Gamefam developed other unique integrations and experiences for all of the top studios, for movies including Sony Pictures’ Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, Disney’s Inside Out 2 and Disney’s Moana 2. Rocking on Roblox : Following last year’s success with Saweetie’s Super Bowl LVII concert (No. 1 Roblox concert of all time) and Cher’s holiday album launch activation, Gamefam continued to jam out with Gen Z & Alpha in the metaverse. In 2024, Gamefam and Warner Music Group teamed up again to bring seven-time Grammy winner Coldplay to Roblox for the first time with a multi-game takeover to celebrate the launch of the band’s new album Moon Music. The campaign resulted in 25+ million visits and 295 million minutes of brand engagement, equivalent to listening to Moon Music 6.7 million times. Helping Brands Achieve Scale on Roblox and Fortnite : In 2024, Gamefam worked on over 60+ campaigns and games. Gamefam launched the first official Roblox game for Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants, teamed up with gaming icon and legendary streamer Ninja for his first-ever Fortnite game takeover in Gamefam’s popular Infinite ZoneWars 2.0, and created integrations for countless brands including Samsung, Moose Toys, Skechers, Lego, FIFA and Spin Master. In recognition of the company’s trailblazing work, Gamefam was honored with 30+ prestigious awards in 2024. Those included Great Place to Work, Inc. 5000 (No. 1 fastest-growing private company in the media industry), Fast Company Best Workplaces for Innovators, The Stevie Awards for Great Employers and Deloitte Technology Fast 500, among others. In 2022, Gamefam faced complaints about its pay and crunch from employees/contractors who were unhappy, but Gamefam said it has tried to address issues in bringing more professional practices to its workforce; it noted its Great Place to Work survey showed 90% of employees said this year it was a great place to work, up from 81% the year before. Gamefam and many of its partners were named winners of advertising campaign award programs including the Clio Sports Awards (4x winner), Clio Entertainment Awards (3x winner), The Drum Awards (5x winner), Webby Awards and Campaign Tech Awards, among many others. Roblox and Fortnite again dominated social media and kids’ TV in 2024 For the past few years, Roblox and Fortnite have been solidified as the preferred platform of choice for Gen Z and Alpha, with users spending 144 minutes per day on Roblox compared to TikTok (112 minutes per day) and YouTube (70 minutes per day), according to Qustodio . This year, Roblox exploded to more than 89 million daily users (29% increase YoY) and was an instrumental tool for brands looking to reach Gen Z and Alpha. Brand games on Roblox accumulated over 1.4 billion visits with 15.8 billion minutes spent in these games. This is especially meaningful at a time when traditional kids’ TV ratings have collapsed up to 90%.4 While this space is still new, brands are already learning about what is working most effectively for them. In 2024, there was a shift in brands building integrations rather than standalone games. For all brands, especially IP that is non-endemic to gaming, integrations allow them to reach communities of millions of players in the leading games on Roblox and Fortnite, delivering meaningful and active engagement at scale. This year, 57% of brands built integrations, and 43% built standalone experiences whereas in 2023, 37% of brands built integrations and 63% built standalone experiences. The 20 percentage point increase in brands building integrations proves marketers understand activations within popular games deliver immediate value. Ricardo Briceno, chief business officer at Gamefam, said in a statement, “The shift toward integrating into popular games with millions of daily users, rather than building standalone experiences, makes sense because brands are recognizing the value of reaching players where they already hang out. By embedding themselves into these vibrant communities, brands not only create meaningful, authentic engagement but also secure their long-term connection with the generations shaping today’s culture and tomorrow’s discretionary spend.” Roblox had a lot of issues this year with parents complaining about child safety. By November, the company updated its child-safety policies and launched new tech. Ferencz said his company works to adhere to all of Roblox is Terms of Service and safety compliance protocols. But he said Gamefam goes farther than that by helping the children’s advertising review unit so it can help brands understand safety protocols on Roblox. He’s also on the board of a local nonprofit in Los Angeles. “We are doing everything we can, both in collaboration with Roblox and with our brand partners to ensure we are at the highest standards of children’s safety,” he said. More Brands Will Turn to Roblox and Fortnite in 2025 With more than 1,000 total brand games and campaigns from 500+ unique brands appearing on Roblox and Fortnite to date, expectations for 2025 are higher than they have ever been. As marketers now understand their audience-building and engagement potential, Gamefam expects to see a bigger influx of investment from brands on these platforms. 2025 will offer a breakout opportunity for sports properties and brands that are non-endemic to gaming across spaces like consumer packaged goods, food and beverage, restaurants and technology, among others. Early predictions for the rest of the decade continue to be highly positive, with the metaverse as a whole projected to have over 2.6 billion users by 2030 . The popularity of Roblox and Fortnite with young demographics mean difficulties for brands in traditional spaces. Ferencz said that young folks are really sort of living in inside these worlds, and they’re not coming out for streaming videos and things like that. “That is the propellant for for the brands here. If they’re not engaging with the new generation, that’s that’s doom for them because their brand will disappear as those people get older. If you’re not gaining relevancy on Roblox and Fornite, you are losing relevancy on Roblox and Fortnite,” he said. The Roblox and Fortnite generations are necessarily playing console games or mobile games as much. That could be a whole generation of fans that multi-generational brands like Disney are missing out on. “They’re watching video content on YouTube and TikTok, and they’re in a closed loop of UGC gaming culture. And so we have been passionate about helping the brands and characters and gaming companies that we love start to navigate and capture value in this space,” Ferencz said. With TMNT, Gamefam made a playable cutscene and the campaign generated 37 million visits. Brawlhalla was integrated with the popular TMNT game, allowing Brawlhalla to get a lot more views/plays (and rewards for players) than it otherwise would with a brand new game. In a campaign that combined SpongeBob with the NFL and Paramount in the first quarter of 2024, Gamefam delivered a five-game cross-platform quest that generated 350 million validated brand engagements for a billion minutes of face time with Roblox players, Ferencz said. “We won three Golden Cleos just this month for this campaign,” he said. Talent search As for the talent, Ferencz said the company has a lot of leadership from game companies like Electronic Arts and Zynga while it also has a lot of Roblox natives who grew up making Roblox games. There are more than 100 people at the company, but Ferencz does not share the exact number. Gamefam also has its new Gamefam Creator Fund that is investing in indie Roblox development teams. The investments from the past six months have resulted in games with about 8,000 concurrent players to date, Ferencz said. “I think we really believe that when it comes to original IP on Roblox, you cannot compete with the Roblox developer community. There are just too many smart, motivated developers working around the world to make things that you would never have thought to make, and that is what powers Roblox,” he said. And if he can’t beat them, Ferencz will join them, sometimes by acquiring promising games and matching them up with a brand. War Tycoon is a good example of that, as Gamefam acquired it a few years ago and it has grown revenue around 800% since the deal. Predictions for 2025 Here are Ferencz’s hot take predictions on how the Roblox and Fortnite will impact the marketing and media world as well as broader culture: “Roblox will become equally important to YouTube and TikTok for Hollywood movie marketing, specifically as in-game integrations like Fandango start offering a direct purchase funnel with strong measurable impact.” “2025 will be when in-game advertising on Roblox becomes a must-have piece of the media plan for every Fortune 100 brand looking to reach Gen Z and Gen Alpha consumers.” “Roblox will break 500 million monthly active users in 2025, on its way to 1+ billion by 2030.” “In 2025, one or more of the big four US sports leagues (NBA, NHL, MLB, NFL) will use Roblox or Fortnite to break major news about the league, its teams and/or players.” “By 2026, Fortnite’s Disney platform will become a top three digital entertainment experience for six to 12 year olds.” “An original IP born from Roblox will become a blockbuster animated film by 2030, alongside apparel, toys and other IRL spinoffs.” “Marketers are realizing Roblox and Fortnite strategies are necessary to reach new, young audiences in active ways, which is way more effective than the passive marketing we’re used to seeing,” he added. “Metaverse gaming isn’t a fad, and it’s not going to stop with Roblox and Fortnite... we have our eyes on platforms like Everywhere and Horizon Worlds as the next frontier for Gen Z and Alpha engagement. With Gamefam’s expertise and top portfolio in metaverse gaming, we’re in the best position to deliver unique and captivating brand experiences with massive scale and groundbreaking IP collaborations.” If you want to impress your boss, VB Daily has you covered. CINCINNATI (AP) — The Cincinnati Bengals took care of business and won three straight games for the first time this season. Cincinnati is playing its best football, but it might be too late to sneak into the playoffs, with five teams battling for the two remaining AFC postseason spots. At 7-8, the Bengals are on the bubble along with two other teams that have the same record, the Colts and Dolphins. To have a chance, the Bengals will need to beat the visiting Denver Broncos (9-6) on Saturday, then try to take down the Steelers (10-5) at Pittsburgh in the regular-season finale. They'll need some help from other teams, too. The rub for the Bengals is that they have yet to beat a team with a winning record this season. Now with some momentum for the first time, the Bengals will have to clear that hurdle. “It’s just what it’s supposed to feel like for us. This is our expectation," coach Zac Taylor said after the Bengals beat the Cleveland Browns 24-6 on Sunday. “We just put ourselves in a position to now play some real meaningful games. ... We found a way to get the win and now we can turn our focus to a short week and the Denver Broncos.” What's working Joe Burrow became the first player in NFL history to throw for at least 250 yards and three or more touchdowns in seven consecutive games. One of his TD passes, to Tee Higgins, came as he was falling down. He finished 23 for 30 for 252 yards. ... Ja'Marr Chase continues to build his resume as he strives to win the receiving “triple crown.” He had six catches for 97 yards and a touchdown against the Browns and leads the league in receptions, yards and TDs. ... K Cade York tied a franchise record with a 59-yard field goal. “The guys have responded this way all season,” Taylor said. “We lost some heartbreakers to be quite frank, and games that just came down to the end. It doesn’t mean that we’ve had a bad football team and we weren’t in it. We’ve been in this, and now — I don’t want to say getting our confidence back, because we’ve had confidence — but we’re just making the plays necessary at the critical points of the game to take control of these games. That’s really what’s happened the last three weeks, and we’ve got to continue that.” What needs help Burrow has fumbled 10 times this season. Against the Browns, he lost a fumble on a strip-sack with the Bengals on the Cleveland 2-yard-line. Stock up Last week, S Jordan Battle scooped a fumble and ran it all the way back, only to fumble as he crossed the goal line, leading to a touchback. TRYNGOLZATM (olezarsen) approved in U.S. as first-ever treatment for adults living with familial chylomicronemia syndrome as an adjunct to dietThe expanded Big Ten is poised to be a major player in this season's College Football Playoff. The 18-team conference had three of the top-four teams in the AP poll this week — No. 1 Oregon, No. 2 Ohio State and No. 4 Penn State. A one-loss Indiana team is ranked 10th but is still very much a contender to make the playoff, given how many Southeastern Conference teams have three defeats or more. Indiana's rise has been perhaps the Big Ten's biggest story this season. Much of the spotlight was on newcomers Oregon, Southern California, UCLA and Washington, but aside from the top-ranked Ducks, that foursome has struggled to impress. Meanwhile, the Hoosiers won their first 10 games under new coach Curt Cignetti before losing at Ohio State last weekend. Oregon beat Ohio State 32-31 back in October, and if the Buckeyes beat rival Michigan this weekend, they'll earn a rematch with the Ducks for the Big Ten title. And it's entirely possible another matchup between those two teams awaits in the CFP. Dillon Gabriel has quarterbacked Oregon to an unbeaten record, throwing for 3,066 yards and 22 touchdowns in 11 games. But don't overlook Iowa's Kaleb Johnson and his 21 rushing TDs, and quarterback Kurtis Rourke has been a big part of Indiana's improvement. Penn State's Abdul Carter has eight sacks and two forced fumbles and could be one of the top edge rushers drafted this year. Oregon (11-0, 8-0), Ohio State (10-1, 7-1), Penn State (10-1, 7-1), Indiana (10-1, 7-1), Illinois (8-3, 5-3), Iowa (7-4, 5-3), Michigan (6-5, 4-4), Minnesota (6-5, 4-4), Washington (6-5, 4-4), Southern California (6-5, 4-5), Nebraska (6-5, 3-5) and Rutgers (6-5, 3-5) have already reached the six-win mark for bowl eligibility. Michigan State (5-6, 3-5) and Wisconsin (5-6, 3-5) can join them. There may not be many firings in general at the top level of college football. The prospect of sharing revenue with athletes in the future might lead schools to be more judicious about shedding one coach and hiring a new one. Who should be most worried in the Big Ten? Well, Lincoln Riley is struggling to stay above .500 in his third season at USC. Purdue is 1-10, but coach Ryan Walters is only in his second season. Maryland's Mike Locksley has been there six years and his Terrapins are 4-7, but this was his first real step backward after guiding the team to three straight bowl wins. Cignetti has shown it is possible for a coaching change to push a previously moribund program to some impressive heights in a short amount of time — but the improvement has been more incremental at Michigan State following Jonathan Smith's arrival. Sherrone Moore wasn't a completely unknown commodity at Michigan after he won some massive games in place of a suspended Jim Harbaugh last year. But in his first season completely at the helm, the Wolverines have declined significantly following their national title a season ago. The Big Ten is home to one of the most dynamic freshmen in the country in Ohio State receiver Jeremiah Smith. He has 52 catches for 899 yards and nine touchdowns. Highly touted quarterback Dylan Raiola has teamed up with fellow freshman Jacory Barney (49 catches) to lead Nebraska to bowl eligibility. Ohio State is on track to land the Big Ten's top class, according to 247 Sports, but the big news recently was quarterback Bryce Underwood flipping from LSU to Michigan. If the Wolverines do in fact keep Underwood in his home state, that would be a big development for Moore. Get local news delivered to your inbox!
Star-studded evening featured Tamron Hall , Halsey, and Honored LRA Founder Robert Wood Johnson and Verizon Chairman and CEO Hans Vestberg NEW YORK , Nov. 26, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- The 2024 Lupus Research Alliance (LRA) Breaking Through Gala raised nearly $3 million for lupus research, bringing the hope for a world free of lupus closer with every dollar. Emceed by two-time Emmy Award-Winning host and bestselling author Tamron Hall , the evening included a commanding performance by GRAMMY ® nominated genre-blending singer, songwriter, and activist Halsey . In welcoming the 500 guests, Tamron Hall explained why she continues to support the Lupus Research Alliance. "Almost everyone in this room knows what it means to live with lupus only too well – you cope with it every day, or you see its effects on someone you love – and sometimes that's even harder to bear," Hall commented. "I too watch several people I am close to struggle with this disease. Like you, I am here tonight, helping increase disease awareness and raise funds for the most promising research because that is how we can best help the people we care so much about." This spring, Halsey bravely revealed her lupus diagnosis, raising broad public awareness among 30+ million Instagram followers and beyond, referring them to the Lupus Research Alliance to learn more. On the heels of releasing a powerful album about struggling with chronic illness, including lupus, Halsey shared her lupus journey with Gala guests before performing. "Opening up about my own lupus diagnosis a few months ago has brought me a sense of comfort, knowing I'm now part of such a passionate and supportive community," said Halsey. "I hope that through my music, I can help amplify the strength we all share and the brighter future we're working toward." LRA President and CEO Albert T. Roy commented, "This year's Gala celebrates the Heart of Innovation – inspiring words that eloquently convey why so many support the work of the LRA. Our organization was founded and continues to be fueled by people like this year's co-honorees The Honorable Robert Wood Johnson and Verizon Chairman and CEO Hans Vestberg who believe in the power of science and technology as the best way to help those living with lupus. Our mission is driven by that kind of passion, getting to the very heart of what causes lupus and bringing forth innovative discoveries that are transforming lives." Why improved treatments are still so urgently needed was poignantly illustrated by speaker Jenny Zwick along with her husband and Board member Spencer sharing how lupus has affected their lives. Special Supporters Recognized for Contributions Mr. Roy also thanked Lady Gaga and Selena Gomez for their support as Gala Honorary Co-Chairs along with the event Co-Chairs: Ira Akselrad, President of The Johnson Company and Lupus Research Alliance Board Chair; Bob Pittman , Chairman and CEO of iHeartMedia, Inc.; and Spencer J. Zwick ; Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Solamere Capital. Philanthropist and Honorary Gala Co-Chair Michael R. Bloomberg addressed the audience in a special videotaped message of enduring support for the lupus cause as well as a tribute to the organization's late Board of Directors Co-Chair Richard K. DeScherer who passed away this past year. Robert Wood Johnson Honored for Founding the LRA to Improve the Future for Daughter Jaime LRA Founding Chairman The Honorable Robert Wood Johnson started the Lupus Research Alliance (then the Alliance for Lupus Research) in 1999 to find answers when his daughter was first diagnosed with lupus as a young child. Ambassador Johnson explained, "Back then, there was not even one treatment developed for lupus and few scientists were working in the field. Funding more research to improve treatment was clearly critical, not just for my daughter, but for millions more. I am proud that our work laid the foundation for two of the three current lupus-specific treatments, and for many more now in clinical development." Honoree Hans Vestberg Recognized for Verizon Support of Lupus Research As Chairman and CEO of Verizon, Hans Vestberg was also honored for the company's long-standing commitment to furthering lupus research. In addition to many years supporting the LRA Walk program directly, Verizon is a cornerstone sponsor of the New York Jets, contributing to the Jets Foundation which is committed to the LRA as one of its primary causes. In addition to thanking the speakers on stage, Mr. Roy also applauded the entire lupus community who donate for LRA-funded research, advocate for federal research funding, raise disease awareness and participate in clinical research – all doing what they can to improve current treatment and ultimately free the world of lupus. He also pointed everyone's attention to the lighting of the iconic Empire State Building which lit up NYC's skyline in the colors of lupus research – purple and red. About Lupus Lupus is a chronic, complex autoimmune disease that affects millions of people worldwide. In lupus, the immune system, meant to defend against infections, produces autoantibodies that mistake the body's own cells as foreign, causing other immune cells to attack organs such as the kidneys, brain, heart, lungs and skin, as well as blood and joints. Ninety percent of people with lupus are women, most often diagnosed between the ages of 15-45. Black, Latinx, Indigenous, Asian and Pacific Islander people are disproportionately affected by lupus and more likely to experience severe lupus symptoms. About the Lupus Research Alliance The Lupus Research Alliance is the largest non-governmental, non-profit funder of lupus research worldwide. The organization aims to transform treatment by funding the most innovative lupus research, fostering diverse scientific talent, and driving discovery toward better diagnostics, improved treatments and ultimately a cure for lupus. Because the Lupus Research Alliance's Board of Directors funds all administrative and fundraising costs, 100% of all donations goes to support lupus research programs. After institutions for people with disabilities close, graves are at risk of being forgottenWomen artists at the forefront in 2025 OTTAWA, ON , Dec. 19, 2024 /CNW/ - The National Gallery of Canada (NGC) looks ahead to its 2025 lineup of exhibitions. Of note, next year, all major solo exhibitions presented at the NGC will highlight the work of women artists such as Nadia Myre , Skawennati and Erica Rutherford . Announcements on additional exhibitions will be made once details have been confirmed. Nadia Myre : Waves of Want May 30 – September 1, 2025 Nadia Myre , an Algonquin member of the Kitigan Zibi Anishinaabeg First Nation, is a contemporary visual artist who lives and works in Montreal . Myre is a recipient of numerous awards, notably the Compagne des arts et des lettres du Québec (2019), Banff Centre for Arts Walter Phillips Gallery Indigenous Commission Award (2016) and Sobey Art Award (2014). For over two decades, her multi-disciplinary practice has been inspired by community-engaged participation and relations, exploring such themes as resilience, language, memory and longing. This exhibition considers how the artist maps exchange, distortion, oppression and adaptation between Indigenous and settler peoples over time and place. Skawennati: Welcome to the Dreamhouse May 30 – September 1, 2025 This solo exhibition tells the story of Skawennati's dynamic artistic trajectory as she envisioned Indigenous people in the future. Beginning with Imagining Indians in the 25 th Century (2001), a catalytic web-based work, this survey continues through her exploration of technology until her most recent works, such as the 3-channel music video and fashion collection, They Sustain Us (2024). Rooted in Haudenosaunee storytelling, her avatars, costumes, machinimas (movies made in a virtual environment such as a game) and prints playfully imagine and create a place where Indigenous people thrive. Erica Rutherford . Her Lives and Work June 13 – October 13, 2025 Organized by the Confederation Centre for the Arts (CCAG) in collaboration with the NGC This exhibition traces the fascinating and multifaceted career of Erica Rutherford (b. Edinburgh , 1923 – d. Charlottetown , 2008), whose work explores themes of persona and gender, home and landscape, and whose life was shaped by the search for identity and community. The show, curated by the CCAG's Pan Wendt, includes over 100 works, accompanied by memorabilia and photographs that support the stories told by the work itself. Erica Rutherford was the first Prince Edward Island artist to have works featured at the prestigious La Biennale di Venezia (2024). 2025 Sobey Art Award October 2025 Following the announcement of Nico Williams ᐅᑌᒥᐣ as the winner of the 2024 Sobey Art Award in November, Canada's richest prize for contemporary visual arts returns next year with an exhibition featuring the works of the six regional finalists. Call for nominations will be announced in January 2025 . The 2024 exhibition is on view until April 6, 2025 . Winter Count [working title] November 21, 2025 – March 8, 2026 This exhibition explores the season in Canada from the perspective of Indigenous Peoples and Canadian settlers, including paintings by Northern and Central European artists who inspired their Canadian counterparts. Winter Count delves into material culture, customs and rites, and highlights artists' fascination with its related motifs, through objects, paintings, sculptures and works on paper. Spanning from the early 19th to the mid-20th century, the exhibition also features prominent Indigenous contemporary voices who address their respective communities' relationship with winter since time immemorial.
