The likes of Ramos, Modric, and Benzema bring their wealth of experience and leadership qualities, guiding the team through the challenges of elite competition. At the same time, the emergence of young talents such as Vinicius Jr. and Rodrygo adds a dynamic and unpredictable element to Real Madrid's attacking options, keeping their opponents guessing and creating opportunities for breakthrough performances. In the midst of the controversy surrounding Wu Liufang, rumors began circulating that Takeshi was considering leaving the online sphere altogether. Speculation swirled about a possible account deactivation, leading to concern among Takeshi's fans about her well-being and future projects.Israel continues feeling the pressure in the wake of the controversial International Criminal Court’s (ICC) decision to issue arrest warrants against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former defense minister Yoav Gallant for overseeing alleged war crimes in the Gaza Strip. Israel's military has issued an alert to all troops warning about travel abroad. "Some soldiers have already been required to leave countries they visited due to concerns about legal proceedings," the Israeli news site Ynet reports Wednesday. The report details that in many cases pro-Palestinian organizations are pressuring governments abroad to block certain individuals from traveling, by creating "blacklists" with details of Israeli army soldiers . Names and photos are used and circulated while "hoping to identify future travel plans." "Individual proceedings against soldiers and junior officers traveling abroad could be based on ICC rulings. To any soldier or officer, if they are arrested, summoned for questioning, or feel they are being followed or photographed while abroad, Israel will provide immediate legal assistance through its local embassy or the Foreign Ministry’s situation room," the army said in the message. "In non-ICC member countries such as the US, China, or India, there is local legislation governing the law of war. These nations are not obligated to act on ICC arrest warrants, but local laws could still pose risks," it added. Ynet notes that some European governments have already taken action against over a dozen soldiers : The IDF has identified about 30 cases of criminal proceedings initiated against its members. At least eight soldiers, including some who had traveled to Cyprus, Slovenia and the Netherlands, were forced to leave immediately . The push for the arrest warrants was overseen by The Hague-based ICC's Karim Khan, and subsequently the warrants for Netanyahu and Gallant were obtained on November 21. While the ICC has no enforcement arm, relying on individual member states, it creates a political headache for the Israeli government. And clearly, given the army's warning to all ranks of troops, the warrants are having a chilling and trickle-down effect. Israel, the US, and some other allies have blasted the ICC move as outrageous and even 'antisemitic'. The ICC has in turn said it has long faced coercion and threats from Israeli officials.

Canadian business mogul Kevin O’Leary says he wants to meet with Donald Trump at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, the president-elect’s so-called “ winter White House,” to discuss the idea of “an economic union” with the United States. After Trump claimed on social media that Canadians could pay 60 per cent less in taxes by joining the U.S., O’Leary told Fox Business on Thursday that he wants to pitch the U.S. president-elect on a more limited integration of the two nations. “There’s 41 million Canadians — basically the population of California, sitting on the world’s largest amounts of all resources — including the most important, energy and water. Canadians, over the holidays the last two days, have been talking about this. They want to hear more,” said the Montreal-born entrepreneur and reality television personality , who is a vocal Trump supporter. “There’s obviously a lot of issues and more details, but what this could be is the beginning of an economic union. Think about the power of combining the two economies, erasing the border between Canada and the United States and putting all that resource up to the northern borders where China and Russia are knocking on the door.” There's 41 million Canadians sitting on the world's largest amounts of all resources, including the most important, energy and water. Think... pic.twitter.com/yp5PuLgxZJ O’Leary already lives in the U.S. The Shark Tank investor currently resides in Florida but lived for decades in Boston, Mass. He recently said he left the state due to high taxes. The idea of deeper integration between Canada and the U.S., and sometimes Mexico, has been a source of discussion for decades, often compared to a North American equivalent to the European Union, with a shared currency and identification papers. O’Leary pitched similar ideas for an “economic union” during his Fox Business appearance. “Give a common currency, figure out taxes across the board, get everything trading both ways, create a new, almost EU-like passport. I like this idea, and at least half of Canadians are interested. The problem is the government’s collapsing in Canada right now,” O’Leary noted, referring to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s embattled government, his cabinet reshuffle and a potential federal election. “Nobody wants Trudeau to negotiate this deal — I don’t want him doing it for me — so I’m going to go to Mar-a-Lago. I’ll start the narrative. The 41 million Canadians, I think most of them would trust me on this deal.” Such negotiations have historically stalled because of the initiative’s complexity, according to a report from the nonpartisan research group the Peterson Institute for International Economics. “The sad truth of North America is that very few leaders of Canada, Mexico and the United States have ever entertained serious discussion of North American goals or plans,” the report says. “The three governments are not organized to approach North American issues, and officials in each government prefer to deal with problems by themselves or bilaterally.... An even more important reason why these ideas have not been discussed is the complex set of fears and prejudices that lurk deep in the souls of the three countries.” O’Leary’s comments come on the heels of repeated statements from Trump encouraging Canada to become “our 51st state” and belittling Trudeau as “the Governor of Canada.” He first floated the idea during a dinner at Mar-a-Lago with Trudeau and members of his cabinet. Trump has threatened to impose a 25 per cent tariff against Canada upon taking office in January and on Nov. 29, he joked to Trudeau that if Canada wants to avoid tariffs, it could always become the 51st state. Oh Canada! Donald Trump Truth Social 04:32 PM EST 12/02/24 @realDonaldTrump pic.twitter.com/XyIx7eCVmE A month later, Trump’s still repeating the same joke. Canada’s “taxes would be cut by more than 60%, their businesses would immediately double in size, and they would be militarily protected like no other Country anywhere in the World,” Trump wrote in a Christmas Day post on Truth Social, a media platform founded by the president-elect. Trudeau appeared to break his silence on Trump’s trolling for the first time on Thursday in a terse message on X. “Some information about Canada for Americans,” Trudeau wrote above a video narrated by Tom Brokaw about the broad brushstrokes of Canadian politics, landscapes and history which aired ahead of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. West Palm Beach (US), Dec 27 (AP) An online spat between factions of Donald Trump's supporters over immigration and the tech industry has thrown internal divisions in his political movement into public display, previewing the fissures and contradictory views his coalition could bring to the White House. The rift laid bare the tensions between the newest flank of Trump's movement — wealthy members of the tech world including billionaire Elon Musk and fellow entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy and their call for more highly skilled workers in their industry — and people in Trump's Make America Great Again base who championed his hardline immigration policies. Also Read | US Embassy in India Scripts Record, Issues 1 Million Visas for Second Consecutive Year. The debate touched off this week when Laura Loomer, a right-wing provocateur with a history of racist and conspiratorial comments, criticized Trump's selection of Sriram Krishnan as an adviser on artificial intelligence policy in his coming administration. Krishnan favors the ability to bring more skilled immigrants into the US. Loomer declared the stance to be “not America First policy” and said the tech executives who have aligned themselves with Trump were doing so to enrich themselves. Also Read | Brazil Bridge Collapse: Death Toll Rises to 9, With 8 Other People Unaccounted For. Much of the debate played out on the social media network X, which Musk owns. Loomer's comments sparked a back-and-forth with venture capitalist and former PayPal executive David Sacks, whom Trump has tapped to be the “White House A.I. and Crypto Czar." Musk and Ramaswamy, whom Trump has tasked with finding ways to cut the federal government, weighed in, defending the tech industry's need to bring in foreign workers. It bloomed into a larger debate with more figures from the hard-right weighing in about the need to hire US workers, whether values in American culture can produce the best engineers, free speech on the internet, the newfound influence tech figures have in Trump's world and what his political movement stands for. Trump has not yet weighed in on the rift, and his presidential transition team did not respond to a message seeking comment. Musk, the world's richest man who has grown remarkably close to the president-elect, was a central figure in the debate, not only for his stature in Trump's movement but his stance on the tech industry's hiring of foreign workers. Technology companies say H-1B visas for skilled workers, used by software engineers and others in the tech industry, are critical for hard-to-fill positions. But critics have said they undercut US citizens who could take those jobs. Some on the right have called for the program to be eliminated, not expanded. Born in South Africa, Musk was once on an a H-1B visa himself and defended the industry's need to bring in foreign workers. “There is a permanent shortage of excellent engineering talent," he said in a post. “It is the fundamental limiting factor in Silicon Valley.” Trump's own positions over the years have reflected the divide in his movement. His tough immigration policies, including his pledge for a mass deportation, were central to his winning presidential campaign. He has focused on immigrants who come into the US illegally but he has also sought curbs on legal immigration, including family-based visas. As a presidential candidate in 2016, Trump called the H-1B visa program “very bad” and “unfair” for US workers. After he became president, Trump in 2017 issued a “Buy American and Hire American” executive order, which directed Cabinet members to suggest changes to ensure H-1B visas were awarded to the highest-paid or most-skilled applicants to protect American workers. Trump's businesses, however, have hired foreign workers, including waiters and cooks at his Mar-a-Lago club, and his social media company behind his Truth Social app has used the the H-1B programme for highly skilled workers. During his 2024 campaign for president, as he made immigration his signature issue, Trump said immigrants in the country illegally are “poisoning the blood of our country" and promised to carry out the largest deportation operation in US history. But in a sharp departure from his usual alarmist message around immigration generally, Trump told a podcast this year that he wants to give automatic green cards to foreign students who graduate from US colleges. “I think you should get automatically, as part of your diploma, a green card to be able to stay in this country," he told the “All-In" podcast with people from the venture capital and technology world. Those comments came on the cusp of Trump's budding alliance with tech industry figures, but he did not make the idea a regular part of his campaign message or detail any plans to pursue such changes. A 76-year-old man police later identified as Walter J Blucas, of Erie, was hospitalised in critical condition. Responders detected a high level of carbon monoxide in the property and township police said on Saturday that investigators determined that “a faulty flue and exhaust pipe on a gas heating system caused the carbon monoxide leak”. Two medics were taken to a hospital for carbon monoxide exposure and a police officer was treated at the scene. As a model, Haddon appeared on the covers of Vogue, Cosmopolitan, Elle and Esquire in the 1970s and 1980s, as well as the 1973 Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue. She also appeared in about two dozen films from the 1970s to 1990s, according to IMDb, including 1994’s Bullets Over Broadway, starring John Cusack. Haddon left modelling after giving birth to her daughter, Ryan, in the mid-1970s, but then had to re-enter the workforce after her husband’s 1991 death. This time, she found the modelling industry far less friendly: “They said to me, ‘At 38, you’re not viable,'” Haddon told The New York Times in 2003. Working a menial job at an advertising agency, Haddon began reaching out to cosmetic companies, telling them there was a growing market to sell beauty products to aging baby boomers. She eventually landed a contract with Clairol, followed by Estee Lauder and then L’Oreal, for which she promoted the company’s anti-aging products for more than a decade. She also hosted beauty segments for CBS’s The Early Show. “I kept modelling, but in a different way,” she told The Times, “I became a spokesperson for my age.” In 2008, Haddon founded WomenOne, an organisation aimed at advancing educational opportunities for girls and women in marginalised communities, including Rwanda, Haiti and Jordan. Haddon was born in Toronto and began modelling as a teenager to pay for ballet classes – she began her career with the Canadian ballet company, Les Grands Ballet Canadiens, according to her website. Haddon’s daughter, Ryan, said in a social media post that her mother was “everyone’s greatest champion. An inspiration to many”. “A pure heart. A rich inner life. Touching so many lives. A life well lived. Rest in Light, Mom,” she said.
