ChatGPT 's Santa Mode is restricted to age groups that might already be questioning Santa Claus's existence. The Santa voice is for ages 13 and up according to a disclaimer. OpenAI debuted the seasonal Santa Mode as part of Thursday's livestream, which also announced vision capabilities for ChatGPT. For ChatGPT Plus and Pro users, when using Advanced Voice Mode, they can select Santa's jolly, booming baritone among the voice options to interact with. OpenAI won't let kids use Santa Mode. But OpenAI has thumbed its nose at the joy of little children everywhere by restricting Santa Mode to teens and adults. How Grinch-y. Jokes aside, there is a reason for this. The 13-and-up age restriction applies to all of ChatGPT, a spokesperson told Mashable. According to OpenAI's terms of use, "You must be at least 13 years old or the minimum age required in your country to consent to use the Services. If you are under 18 you must have your parent or legal guardian’s permission to use the Services." Some kind of age restriction makes sense for use of a technology that might share harmful or inaccurate information. But it also raises the question of what kind of raunchy adult content Santa Mode could get up to. That said, OpenAI has trained ChatGPT to restrict certain adult content and prevent misuse. But the real trick would have been creating a truly kid-safe version of Santa Mode. Of course parents can always use Santa Mode with their kids or a tech-savvy pre-teen could get their parent's permission to chat with Santa. But it kind of takes away from the festive fun, knowing that Santa Mode is almost exclusively a gimmick for adults that are already in on the world's greatest conspiracy. Meanwhile we'll be pushing the limits of Santa Mode to see how "adult" it can be.House task force cites 'various failures' ahead of 'preventable' Trump shooting

Karachi: Backing down from its boycott threat, the Pakistan Cricket Board has told the ICC that it is willing to accept the ‘Hybrid’ model for hosting next year’s Champions Trophy provided the world body allows the same arrangement for events to be held in India till 2031. A top PCB source told PTI that the Board is also demanding a greater share in the annual revenue cycle for agreeing to the model under which India would be playing its share of matches, including the clash against Pakistan in Dubai, owing to security concerns. The Champions Trophy is to be held in February-March. The proposal is a climbdown for the PCB, which had earlier threatened to boycott the tournament if its hosting rights were not granted in full and India’s demand for a neutral venue was accepted. “The current situation is that PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has said that it will only accept hosting the Champions Trophy on a hybrid model if the board agrees that in future all ICC events will be on same system with Pakistan not going to India to play matches,” a PCB source told PTI. Till 2031, India is due to host three ICC men’s events — the 2026 T20 World Cup jointly with Sri Lanka, the 2029 Champions Trophy and the 2031 ODI World Cup jointly with Bangladesh. Given that Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are co-hosts for two major events, Pakistan would not be compelled to travel to India if they insist on it. The point of contention could be just the 2029 Champions Trophy, which will be held entirely in India. Another flash-point could be next year’s women’s ODI World Cup in October, also to be held in India. The state of flux surrounding next year’s Champions Trophy is now expected to be resolved in the next couple of days after the ICC executive board considers Pakistan’s latest demands. The ICC Board met briefly to find a solution on Friday but no agreement could be reached. The world body eventually told PCB to either accept the hybrid model or be prepared to be excluded from the tournament after Naqvi reiterated the unyielding position of his country. The impasse has led to a delay in the announcement of the schedule for the tournament. The PCB source claimed that Naqvi is sticking to his stance despite pressure and has even sought financial perks for the PCB to accept the hybrid model. “Pakistan also wants the ICC board to increase its financial cycle share of revenues from 5.75 percent and Naqvi is insistent on this but he has not sought any additional hosting fees,” the source added. “People are saying that Naqvi has sought time to get back after talking to his government but we don’t know if he went there with the backing of the government and had already sought their approval to make his stand in the ICC board’s virtual meeting,” he asserted. Naqvi, who is also the interior minister in his country, also faces the prospect of a public backlash if PCB is seen to be backing down without any tangible gains. Earlier, Naqvi also met Emirates Cricket Board head Mubashir Usmani in Dubai, conveying that Pakistan was ready to host the Champions Trophy and all the preparations were on schedule. The PCB source though rejected speculation that the Board would get a bonus of USD 20 million besides the hosting fees of USD six million for the Champions Trophy for conceding to India’s demands. “Pakistan has taken only one stance and that is in future, it will also not play in India in any ICC events and the Hybrid model should be applied for all future ICC events that Pakistan and India will play their games at neutral venues,” he said. The Boston Celtics visited the White House on Thursday, where President Biden personally congratulated the reigning NBA champions on the South Lawn. President Biden hosted the 2024 NBA champion Boston Celtics at the White House Thursday, but he was either not completely sure of that or making a joke. While announcing the team's latest championship, Biden turned to the team to make sure they were called the Celtics. "You're the Celtics, right?" Biden asked the players during a moment in his address. The comment was met with light, but reserved chuckles from some in the crowd. CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM Biden also joked that he didn't know where the players came from. "They just showed up. I don’t know where the hell they came from," Biden said. Later in the speech, Biden appeared to reveal his Secret Service code name. Celtic has been Biden's code name throughout his presidency and even dating back to his vice presidency under Obama, according to Britannica. "All of you may not know this, but my Secret Service name is Celtic. For real, because I’m Irish," Biden said. "Everybody behind me is Irish in their heart. I feel a special pride in this trophy for this old Irish Celtic. To all you Celtics, congratulations." (AP Photo/Susan Walsh) Biden concluded his speech by pointing out that John F. Kennedy was the first president to host an NBA champion when the Celtics visited in 1963. "Part of that wonderful tradition, celebrating the power of sports to bring people together. It’s a tradition that I’ve had the honor to continue. No matter the sport. What these champions all have in common are core values. ... Hard work, teamwork, respect and the knowledge that no one of us is ever as good as all of us can be when we’re together." After Biden's speech, he received a custom Celtics jersey and took a basketball with him as he walked down the stairs. He dribbled the ball and even made a few passes to attendees in the crowd. The 2023 champion Denver Nuggets did not attend a Biden White House visit, reportedly due to "scheduling issues," the team previously told The Denver Post. Prior to Thursday, the last NBA champion to visit Biden's White House was the 2021-2022 Golden State Warriors. Those Warriors visited in late January 2023. The only two NFL teams to get invitations to Trump's White House during his first term were the New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles. The Patriots accepted both invitations in 2017 and 2019. The Eagles' visit was canceled, and the team released a statement saying it was in relation to Trump's stance on players standing for the national anthem. During Trump's first term, and even during his recent campaign, college football has been the sport to embrace Trump the most in the U.S. His appearances at games, including multiple Army-Navy games in his first term and a Georgia-Alabama game in September, were met with rousing applause. No college football national champion skipped a White House visit during Trump's first term. Georgia skipped a visit to President Biden's White House in 2023. What Do 'Fighting' Bucs Have To Be Thankful For?Star Alliance member United Airlines is seeking United States Department of Transportation (DOT) approval to launch a new route connecting Los Angeles and Beijing. United wants to continue its dominance on the Pacific Rim and hopes to launch this service by May 1st. Connecting Los Angeles to Beijing As reported by Onemileatatime , United has filed a request to launch a thrice-weekly service between Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Beijing Capital Airport (PEK), using its Boeing 787-9 aircraft for the 6,250-mile journey. This direct service would compete with Air China, which already operates a four-weekly service onboard its Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. United's proposed schedule: From To Departure Time Arrival Time Frequency Aircraft Los Angeles International Beijing Capital 23:10 04:45 (2 days later) Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday Boeing 787-9 Beijing Capital Los Angeles International 12:00 09:35 (same day) Monday, Thursday, and Saturday Boeing 787-9 Should the proposed service go ahead, it will complement United's current daily San Francisco to Beijing service, operated by the carriers Boeing 777-300ER and Air China's twice-weekly 777-300ER service between the two cities. United's utilization of its Boeing 787-9 would add 771 available seats in each direction per week. The carrier's aircraft is configured with 257 seats for each flight, including 48 for business class passengers, 21 in premium economy, and 188 in economy class. The carrier is the world's second-largest 787-9 operator. Want answers to more key questions in aviation? Check out the rest of our guides here . Subdued demand for travel between China and the United States Demand for international travel and trade between the United States and China is subdued compared to pre-pandemic. This has been a result of political tension between the two superpowers but also due to flight caps . Currently, the maximum number of flights operating each week is 50. US airlines are permitted to fly up to 50 weekly flights, of which United is below this limit. Pre-pandemic, there were around 300 weekly flights between the US and China; however, following ongoing challenges to rebuild demand and increase flight caps, there has been a slow recovery in flights. For travel to the Chinese capital, currently, several services operate directly to the United States; these include: Air China Beijing Capital to Los Angeles Beijing Capital to New York JFK Beijing Capital to San Francisco Beijing Capital to Washington Dulles Hainan Airlines Beijing Capital to Seattle Tacoma United Airlines Beijing Capital to San Francisco With many more jets on order, the United fleet includes nearly 500 Boeing 737s and close to 100 777s. Of the ' Big Three ' US airlines, United is currently the only carrier serving Beijing; however, both American and Delta Air Lines operate services to other Chinese airports (namely Shanghai). United also maintains services between LA, San Francisco, and the Special Administrative Region of China: Hong Kong. United Airlines has continued its international expansion on the US East and West Coast. Already from Los Angeles and San Francisco, the carrier offers more long-haul services than any other US carrier. Direct United service operates from LA across the Pacific to Hong Kong, Melbourne, Shanghai Pudong, Sydney, Tokyo Haneda, and Tokyo Narita. In contrast, its San Francisco hub offers routes to Auckland, Beijing, Hong Kong, Melbourne, Osaka Kansai, Papeete, Seoul Incheon, Shanghai Pudong, Singapore, Sydney, Tokyo Haneda, Tokyo Narita, and seasonal services to Christchurch . For United, its continued investment in fleet upgrades and expansion at Los Angeles will continue to position itself as a leading carrier from the country's west, reaffirming itself as a leader in long-haul travel and an integral member of the Star Alliance . UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was gunned down outside of a Manhattan hotel on Wednesday, Dec. 4. Luigi Mangione, 26, has since been arrested and charged in the killing . In the days after Thompson’s death, UnitedHealthcare came under fire on social media over its alleged high rate of health insurance claim denials. A chart shared in many viral posts across social media shows claim denial rates for major insurance companies. UnitedHealthcare’s denial rate is highest at 32%, according to the posts. VERIFY investigated available data to determine whether the viral chart is accurate. THE QUESTION Does UnitedHealthcare deny patients’ claims at the highest rate of any major insurer, like the viral chart claims? THE SOURCES The Affordable Care Act (ACA) ProPublica investigation on health insurers’ denial rates published in June 2023 ValuePenguin , a consumer research site owned by LendingTree VERIFY analysis of available data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Article published by KFF, a nonprofit healthy policy research organization, in May 2023 THE ANSWER The claim that UnitedHealthcare denies patients’ claims at the highest rate of any major insurer is inconclusive. The federal government and private health insurers don’t make data on claim denials for all types of insurance plans available to the public. WHAT WE FOUND We can’t VERIFY that UnitedHealthcare denies claims at the highest rate of any major health insurer. That’s because the federal government and private health insurers, like UnitedHealthcare, don’t make data on claim denials for all types of insurance plans available to the public. Former President Barack Obama signed a comprehensive health care reform law called The Affordable Care Act (ACA) , which is also known as Obamacare, into law in 2010. That law tasked the federal government’s Department of Health and Human Services with “monitoring denials both by health plans on the Obamacare marketplace and those offered through employers and insurers,” Elisabeth Rosenthal reported for KFF Health News , which is part of the nonprofit health policy research and news organization KFF, in May 2023. But HHS “hasn’t fulfilled that assignment,” Rosenthal said. Data the federal government has collected and shared so far isn’t comprehensive and it isn’t audited to ensure it’s accurate, a ProPublica investigation and KFF found. VERIFY reviewed the ACA and found it also tasked the head of the Government Accountability Office (GAO) with conducting a “study on the incidence of denials of coverage for medical services and denials of applications to enroll in health insurance plans.” That GAO report was published in March 2011 but it doesn’t break down denial rates by individual insurers. Where the data in the viral chart comes from VERIFY traced the viral chart back to an article published by ValuePenguin, a consumer research website owned by LendingTree, in May 2024. ValuePenguin has since removed the chart from its article, though the alleged denial rates are still included in the article. The website said on Dec. 6 that it “removed certain data elements” from the piece “at the request of law enforcement.” The chart published by ValuePenguin, which is shown in an archived version of the article here , alleges that UnitedHealthcare denies nearly one-third of claims it receives – or 32% to be exact – the highest rate of any major insurer. It’s followed by Medica at 27% and Anthem at 23%. These rates were based on available data on insurers’ claim denials and appeals from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ (CMS) public use files, which are available online, ValuePenguin said. ValuePenguin says the CMS data the website used is from the calendar year 2022 and doesn’t include any other years. Medicare and Medicaid data doesn’t include information about employer-sponsored private health plans, which cover the majority of working-age Americans . VERIFY conducted our own analysis of the most recent data from CMS comparing the total number of the in-network claims that health insurers received to their in-network denials. We did not factor in appeals. Our analysis found that UnitedHealthcare did deny claims at a rate of around 33% – the highest rate of any major insurer. This closely mirrors what ValuePenguin found. But there are a handful of caveats to the CMS data that make it impossible to draw conclusions about how often health insurers actually deny patients’ claims. Why it’s impossible to know exactly how many claims health insurers deny The data-gathering on health insurers’ denials is “haphazard and limited to a small subset of plans,” and it “isn’t audited to ensure it is complete,” Karen Pollitz, a retired senior fellow at KFF, said in the 2023 KFF Health News article . When it comes to information that the federal government has collected, it is not standardized or audited, and therefore is “not really meaningful,” Peter Lee, the founding executive director of California’s state marketplace, also told ProPublica. Data “should be actionable” and “this is not by any means right now,” he added. VERIFY reached out to CMS and UnitedHealthcare for comment, but did not receive responses by the time of publication.
