This Thanksgiving, on the cusp of his return to the White House, Trump again criticized Democrats, accusing them of trying to “destroy” the country while touting his “landslide victory.” “Happy Thanksgiving to all, including to the Radical Left Lunatics who have worked so hard to destroy our Country, but who have miserably failed, and will always fail, because their ideas and policies are so hopelessly bad that the great people of our Nation just gave a landslide victory to those who want to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social Thursday. “Don’t worry, our Country will soon be respected, productive, fair, and strong, and you will be, more than ever before, proud to be an American!” Vice President-elect JD Vance followed suit, posting a bizarre image on X of him and Trump serving the 2024 electoral map at a dinner table. Vance’s post, which has Trump’s head pasted on the body of the patriarch and Vance’s on the body of the housewife in Norman Rockwell’s painting “ Freedom F rom Want ,” was widely mocked on social media . Trump has claimed that his victory in the 2024 election was “ an unprecedented and powerful mandate .” And while it is true that unlike in 2016 and 2020, Trump won the popular vote this election, he did so by one of the smallest margins since the 19th century, as The New York Times noted. Still, he has brandished his claim of a “mandate ” as a justification to make controversial choices for his Cabinet , testing Senate Republicans’ appetite for challenging their party leader . ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — What’s stoking the Denver Broncos’ surprising surge is the growing connection between rookie quarterback Bo Nix and veteran wide receiver Courtland Sutton. Whenever the Broncos (7-5) need a clutch catch, a key flag or a timely touchdown, Sutton is usually the one delivering it like he did Sunday when he caught eight passes on 10 targets for 97 yards and a pair of touchdowns that sparked the Broncos’ come-from-behind 29-19 win at Las Vegas. “Courtland played tremendous,” coach Sean Payton said. Again. “He’s just reliable,” Nix said. “He’s just always there when you need him.” Sutton’s size (6-foot-4 and 216 pounds) and experience (he’s in his seventh NFL season) make him an ideal target and safety valve for the rookie QB whose confidence is growing by the week. “He’s smart. He’s savvy. He makes plays when the ball’s in the air,” Nix said. “You can trust him. When it’s up in the air, it’s his or nobody’s. It’s not going to be a pick.” Nix’s first touchdown toss to Sutton was an 18-yarder that allowed the QB to break Marlin Briscoe’s 1968 Denver rookie record of 14 TD passes, and the two connected again with 5:30 left to make it a two-score game. Dobbins hurts his knee in his reunion game with Ravens The Broncos trailed 13-9 at halftime and Nix said they knew they had to get the ball into Sutton’s hands more in the second half after he had caught the only pass thrown his way in the first half (for 17 yards). “Didn’t target him (much) in the first half,” Nix said. “We come out and say, ‘Look, Courtland, this is your half.’ We take over the game. He goes for two touchdowns. That just kind of speaks for what he means to our team.” The AP Top 25 college football poll is back every week throughout the season! Sutton has been on a tear after since he wasn’t targeted a single time in Denver’s 33-10 win at New Orleans on Oct. 17. (Payton mentioned as recently as last week what an anomaly that game was because there was a heavy diet of plays for Sutton that just didn’t pan out for various reasons.) In his six games before that goose egg, Sutton had 21 catches on 49 targets for 277 yards and a touchdown. In the five games since, he’s caught 36 of the 48 balls thrown his way for 467 yards and three TDs. Plus, he threw a touchdown pass to Nix on a “Philly Special” at Baltimore in Week 9. “I think we’re just scratching the surface,” Sutton said. Thanks in part to the chemistry between Nix and Sutton, the Broncos are in position for the seventh and final playoff spot entering December. What’s working The passing game, thanks to the Nix-Sutton connection. What needs help The running game. Javonte Williams had just 2 yards on eight carries and Audric Estime ran three times for 15 yards against the Raiders’ run-heavy fronts and a steady diet of blitzes. Jaleel McLaughlin saved the day with seven carries for 44 yards. Stock up OLB Nik Bonitto. His 10 sacks make him the first Denver defender with double-digit sacks since 2018, when Von Miller did it. Stock down Once again, the Broncos’ special teams, with the exception of K Wil Lutz, who hasn’t missed a field goal attempt or extra point since his protection unit cratered at Kansas City three weeks ago and allowed the Chiefs to block what would have been the game-winning kick as time expired. On Sunday, the Raiders had a successful fake punt and a 59-yard kickoff return. Injuries Payton isn’t saying much about the injuries to DE Zach Allen (heel) and CB Riley Moss (knee) except that to him they’re not serious setbacks for either player. Key number 2 — The Broncos are two games above .500 for the first time since starting the 2021 season with three wins. Next steps The Broncos host Cleveland (3-8) on Monday night ahead of their bye week. ___ AP NFL: https://apnews.com/hub/nflThe National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) withheld photographs of then-Vice President Joe Biden meeting business associates of his son, Hunter Biden, in China until after the 2024 election — but pursued then-former President Donald Trump over records that eventually became the subject of a major federal prosecution. As Breitbart News reported last week, NARA was forced to release some of the photographs after a lawsuit by the America First Legal foundation: The photos — only a partial archive — were released in response to a lawsuit filed by Stephen Miller’s America First Legal foundation against the National Archives and Records Administration in 2022. They shed new light on the Biden family’s history of influence-peddling, which dates back to the Obama administration, and which Democrats denied as they impeached President Donald Trump and claimed Hunter’s laptop was Russian “disinformation.” America First noted in a statement : “Lawyers and representatives for President Biden and President [Barack] Obama delayed NARA’s release of these photographs, as they did with other records, until after Election Day.” But NARA was quite willing to threaten former President Trump with prosecution in 2021, simply for holding onto records that he believed were his. From the New York Times timeline of the “documents” case, in “late 2021”: Officials at the archives warn Mr. Trump’s representatives that there could be a referral to the Justice Department or an alert to Congress if the former president continues to refuse to comply with the Presidential Records Act. ... The archives informs the Justice Department, which asks President Biden to request that the archives provide the F.B.I. with access to the boxes for examination. Later, when the Justice Department reviews the materials, investigators come to believe they have not recovered everything that Mr. Trump must return. NARA’s intervention was key to the launch of the case against Trump, complete with an FBI raid of his private home at Mar-a-Lago.For veteran educator Wilma Fuentes, “Teachers are not only guides but also learners in this new digital age.” Fuentes, like other veteran educators in Cebu, said that teaching has evolved alongside the advancement of technology. The 59-year-old kindergarten teacher, who has taught for over 20 years at the Nazarene Christian Learning Center, shared that technology has transformed how lessons are prepared and delivered. “Traditionally the teachers write everything they want to teach to the pupils or learners; they do it in a manual way, but in modern education, everything is on the internet,” she said. However, she also acknowledged the challenges that come with adapting to new methods. “It’s not just difficult for students but also teachers. But we must adapt to new ways of learning approaches,” she said. Likewise, Edna Eyac, 52, a Grade 3 teacher with 26 years of experience at Banawa Elementary School, shared a similar perspective. “Seasoned teachers like me must continuously upgrade our skills to keep up with 21st-century learners,” Eyac remarked. She highlighted how technology has made lesson preparation more efficient for them and the students. Eyac specifically mentioned tools like PowerPoint and Canva for creating visual aids and platforms like Kahoot and Google Forms for assessments. However, she also acknowledged the strain these changes bring. “(The) challenges I encountered were slow internet connection, not to mention the money for the load, physical changes because of eye strain over time,” she said. “Sometimes I forget the processes because of old age,” Eyac added with a laugh. She also pointed out that not all students have access to technology, which can create a digital divide in learning. For Melisa Retes Pelendingue, a 53-year-old Grade 6 teacher at Banawa Elementary School, incorporating modern tools is crucial in enhancing classroom participation. She said nteractive whiteboards and gamification make learning more engaging and simplify complex concepts. “Continuous learning is key to staying relevant and effective,” Pelendingue said, adding that adapting to change is essential for educators and students. Speaking for all the teachers who have committed to embracing new teaching methods despite the hurdles they face, Fuentes echoed this sentiment saying, “We must grow alongside our learners to make education meaningful.” Fuentes, Eyac, and Pelendingue show how veteran educators balance experience and adaptability. As Pelendingue aptly summarized, “Teaching is a lifelong learning process, and it’s through growth that we truly educate.” Armi Isola Juliana J. Ilumba, / Southwestern University
