DALLAS — Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks is the latest professional athlete whose home has been burglarized. The star guard’s business manager told multiple media outlets Saturday there was a break-in at Doncic’s home. Lara Beth Seager said nobody was home at the time of the incident Friday night, and Doncic filed a police report. Jewelry valued at about $30,000 was stolen, the Dallas Morning News reported , according to an internal police report it obtained. Doncic, 25, who is from Slovenia, is the sixth known pro athlete in the U.S. whose home was burglarized since October. Star NFL quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes of Kansas City and Joe Burrow of Cincinnati are among them, along with Mahomes’ tight end, Travis Kelce. The others were Milwaukee Bucks forward Bobby Portis and Minnesota Timberwolves guard Mike Conley Jr. The NFL and NBA issued security alerts to their players after the break-ins, some of which have come when players were away with their teams for road games. The NFL’s alert says homes of professional athletes across multiple sports have become “increasingly targeted for burglaries by organized and skilled groups.” Burrow lamented a loss of privacy over having to acknowledge that he was the victim of a break-in. The incident at Doncic’s home came two days after the five-time All-NBA player strained his left calf in a Christmas Day loss to the Timberwolves. The injury is expected to sideline Doncic for about a month.Donald Trump is returning to the world stage. So is his trollingORLANDO, Fla. — UCF coach Gus Malzahn is resigning after four seasons with the school. ESPN’s Pete Thamel was the first to report the move, which will see Malzahn to leave to take the offensive coordinator job at Florida State. Malzahn previously worked with FSU coach Mike Norvell during their time at Tulsa under then-coach Todd Graham from 2007-08. The Knights ended a disappointing 4-8 season in which they lost eight of their last nine games, the longest losing streak since 2015. Malzahn, 59, was in the fourth year of a contract through 2028. His buyout, it is reported, would have been $13.75 million. He finished 27-25 at UCF but lost 16 of his last 22 games and was a dismal 4-14 in two seasons in the Big 12. After back-to-back nine-win seasons in 2021-22, the Knights went 6-7 in 2023 and 4-8 in 2024. This season started with high expectations as Malzahn made sweeping changes to the program. He retooled the strength and conditioning department and hired Ted Roof and Tim Harris Jr. as defensive and offensive coordinators, respectively. He also added nearly 50 new players to the roster, leaning heavily on the transfer market. UCF started by winning its first three games against New Hampshire, Sam Houston and a thrilling comeback at TCU, but offensive struggles saw the Knights tumble through a TBD-game losing streak to finish the season. Terry Mohajir hired Malzahn on Feb. 15, 2021, six days after he was hired to replace Danny White. The move came eight weeks after Malzahn had been fired at Auburn after eight seasons of coaching the Tigers. The two briefly worked together at Arkansas State in 2012 before Malzahn left for the Auburn job. “When he [Mohajir] offered the job, I was like, ‘I’m in.’ There wasn’t thinking about or talking about ...,” Malzahn said during his introductory press conference. “This will be one of the best programs in college football in a short time. This is a job that I plan on being here and building it.” UCF opened the 2021 season with non-conference wins over Boise State and Bethune-Cookman before traveling to Louisville on Sept. 17, where quarterback Dillon Gabriel suffered a fractured collarbone in the final minute of a 42-35 loss. Backup Mikey Keene would finish out the season as Gabriel announced his intention to transfer. The Knights would finish the season on the plus side by accepting a bid to join the Big 12 Conference in September and then by defeating Florida 29-17 in the Gasparilla Bowl. Malzahn struck transfer portal gold in the offseason when he signed former Ole Miss quarterback John Rhys Plumlee. Plumlee, a two-sport star with the Rebels, helped guide UCF to the American Athletic Conference Championship in its final season. However, Plumlee’s injury forced the Knights to go with Keene and freshman Thomas Castellanos. The team finished with losses to Tulane in the conference championship and Duke in the Military Bowl. Plumlee would return in 2023 as UCF transitioned to the Big 12 but would go down with a knee injury in the final minute of the Knights’ 18-16 win at Boise State on Sept. 9. He would miss the next four games as backup Timmy McClain took over the team. Even on his return, Plumlee couldn’t help UCF, on a five-game losing streak to open conference play. The Knights got their first Big 12 win at Cincinnati on Nov. 4 and upset No. 15 Oklahoma State the following week, but the team still needed a win over Houston in the regular-season finale to secure a bowl bid for the eighth straight season. From the moment Malzahn stepped on campus, he prioritized recruiting, particularly in Central Florida. “We’re going to recruit like our hair’s on fire,” Malzahn said at the time. “We’re going to go after the best players in America and we’re not backing down to anybody.” From 2007 to 2020, UCF signed 10 four-star high school and junior college prospects. Eight four-star prospects were in the three recruiting classes signed under Malzahn. The 2024 recruiting class earned a composite ranking of 39 from 247Sports, the highest-ranked class in school history. The 2025 recruiting class is ranked No. 41 and has commitments from three four-star prospects. Malzahn has always leaned on the transfer market, signing 60 players over the past three seasons. Some have paid huge dividends, such as Javon Baker, Lee Hunter, Kobe Hudson, Tylan Grable, Bula Schmidt, Amari Kight, Marcellus Marshall, Trent Whittemore, Gage King, Ethan Barr, Deshawn Pace and Plumlee. Others haven’t been as successful, such as quarterback KJ Jefferson, who started the first five games of this season before being benched for poor performance. Jefferson’s struggles forced the Knights to play musical chairs at quarterback, with true freshman EJ Colson, redshirt sophomore Jacurri Brown and redshirt freshman Dylan Rizk all seeing action at one point or another this season. This season’s struggles led to several players utilizing the NCAA’s redshirt rule after four games, including starting slot receiver Xavier Townsend and kicker Colton Boomer, who have also entered the transfer portal. Defensive end Kaven Call posted a letter to Malzahn on Twitter in which he accused the UCF coaching staff of recently kicking him off the team when he requested to be redshirted.

Jaipur: The time is ripe for us to leverage India’s geographic location and help make our nation become the centre of the logistics world, Adani Group Chairman, Gautam Adani, said on Saturday. Addressing the 51st India Gem and Jewellery Awards here, Gautam Adani said that in the case of logistics, what started as a port jetty, to import coal in 1998, has gone on to become the country’s largest port business. “This business today spans a network of 15 national and 5 international ports and, thereby, allows us to expand into building a network of integrated logistic nodes,” he told the gathering. These nodes now are made up of ports, rail, highways, warehouses, inland container depots, fulfilment centres, and trucking in a way no other company has ever achieved in the world. “This journey has taken us deep into the Middle East — all the way into the Mediterranean through Israel — and into the heart of Africa. For me, it is no more just about ports. It is now about leveraging India’s geographic location and doing our part to help make our nation become the centre of the logistics world,” the Adani Group Chairman noted. Likewise, what started as a single power plant in 2007, has now become not just India’s largest private thermal power generation company but has also allowed the Adani Group to expand into adjacencies. “This expansion has seen us become India’s largest private transmission company, largest private power distribution company, largest mine developer and operator, as well as the only company that successfully took up the challenge of cross-border supply of power to help a neighbouring nation,” Gautam Adani told the gathering. Furthermore, it has allowed the company to move into the area of renewable energy. “Today, we are India’s largest solar panel manufacturing company as well as the world’s largest single-site renewable energy facility, well on our way to generating 30 GW of power, spread over a massive single span of land of more than 500 square kilometres,” the Adani Group Chairman emphasised. “Yet another example of challenging the status quo is our move into the airport business. In less than three years, we became the largest airport operator in the country. We then built our adjacencies that made us the largest airport logistics player with almost 40 per cent of India’s air cargo and have now undertaken the world’s largest slum redevelopment initiative, the Dharavi project,” he stressed. Gautam Adani further stated that for him, Dharavi is not just about slum redevelopment. “It is about restoring dignity, creating a sustainable ecosystem, and changing the status quo for over one million residents.”

Trump threatens 100% tariff on the BRIC bloc of nations if they act to undermine US dollarThe Golden State Warriors currently possess a respectable roster capable of postseason success, but they could make a groundbreaking move in the future that would shock the NBA world. The Warriors could make another championship run in the late 2020s by bringing together their Top 4 contributors from 2016-19. “The Golden State Warriors could break the sports world by doing something that’s never been done before in NBA history,” Empire Sports Media’s Matthew Legros wrote Monday. “Right now, the Warriors look strong. Stephen Curry is still in his prime. So is Andrew Wiggins. Draymond Green is anchoring them on both ends per usual and their young talent pool is elite.” “But Curry, 36, and Green, 34, are nearing 40 years old. Their championship window, which is still open, won’t remain that way forever." "That’s why they should reunite with a couple of former teammates to win a historic championship in the twilight of their careers.” “Curry has a style of play that could enable him to still average 20-plus points per night and continue being an elite marksman from outside at 40.” “Durant’s unselfish approach, coupled with his size and feel for the game would make him another aging superstar who could still be an effective, low-usage scorer.” “The same goes for Thompson, who doesn’t need to dribble to catch fire. So long as Green remains agile, he could still make sound reads and distribute to those three.” “With a slew of youthful defensive specialists around them and one more potent scorer to serve as a failsafe for the injury-prone Curry, Durant, and Thompson, Golden State could realistically win one more championship five years from now.” “If the opportunity presents itself, the Warriors’ big four could be the first unit to run the table in such a fashion and would make for entertainment value unlike anything the NBA world has seen before.” The Warriors secured two titles with Durant, Curry, Green, and Thompson running the show. The organization defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers twice before falling to the Toronto Raptors in the 2019 finals. Following the devastating end to the 2018-19 season, Durant joined the Brooklyn Nets during free agency, lowering Golden State’s chances of dominating the NBA in the future. Surprisingly, the Warriors returned to the finals in 2022 and took down the Boston Celtics in six games to win their sixth championship in franchise history. However, after a miserable showing in the No. 9 vs. No. 10 Western Conference Play-In game last season, Thomas inked a deal with the Dallas Mavericks in July, officially ending the Warriors' dynasty. Will the Warriors’ Big 4 reunite for a final farewell tour in a few years? Perhaps, but the four studs appear to be focused on doing whatever it takes to achieve success in the present. Snow strands hundreds of commuters in J K's Banihal for some it's cricket all rightSouth Korea’s suspended president Yoon Suk-yeol authorised the military to fire their weapons if needed to enter parliament during his failed bid to impose martial law, according to a prosecutors’ report seen by AFP yesterday. The 10-page summary from former defence minister Kim Yong-hyun’s prosecution indictment report, which was provided to the media, also says Yoon vowed on December 3 to declare martial law three times if necessary. Yoon, who was stripped of his duties by the National Assembly this month, is under investigation for his short-lived attempt to scrap civilian rule, which plunged the country into political turmoil and led to his impeachment. Yoon’s lawyer Yoon Kab-keun dismissed the prosecutors’ report, telling AFP it was “a one-sided account that neither corresponds to objective circumstances nor common sense”. As lawmakers rushed to parliament on December 3 to vote down Yoon’s martial law declaration, heavily armed troops stormed the building, scaling fences, smashing windows and landing by helicopter. According to the prosecution indictment report, Yoon told the chief of the capital defence command, Lee Jin-woo, that military forces could shoot if necessary to enter the National Assembly. “Have you still not got in? What are you doing? Break down the door and drag them out, even if it means shooting,” Yoon told Lee, according to the report. Yoon also allegedly told the head of the Defense Counterintelligence Command, General Kwak Jong-keun, to “quickly get inside” the National Assembly since the quorum for the martial law declaration to be lifted had not been met. “So quickly get inside the National Assembly and bring out the people inside the chamber, and break down the doors with an axe if necessary and drag everyone out,” the report quotes Yoon as saying at the time. After lawmakers rushed inside parliament and voted 190-0 to nullify Yoon’s declaration in the early hours of December 4, the report says Yoon told Lee, “Even if it’s lifted, I can declare martial law a second or third time, so just keep going.” The report also included screenshots of senior defence officials’ messages from the day of the martial law declaration. It said there was evidence that Yoon had been discussing declaring martial law with senior military officials as early as March. The declaration followed a budget tussle between Yoon’s party and the opposition. Days later, Yoon in a speech apologised for the “anxiety and inconvenience” and promised there would not be a second declaration of martial law. Ex-defence minister Kim was arrested over his role in the failed martial law bid. Opposition Democratic Party lawmaker Kang Sun-woo said in a statement on Saturday that “the prosecution has laid bare the undeniable ugly truth about Yoon Suk-yeol, the treasonous ringleader”, adding that he must be “arrested immediately”. South Korea’s Constitutional Court held its first preliminary hearing on the validity of Yoon’s impeachment on Friday. The court will also decide the fate of Yoon’s replacement, Han Duck-soo, who was impeached Friday over his refusal to complete Yoon’s impeachment process and bring him to justice. Tens of thousands of Yoon supporters and opponents held rival mass rallies in central Seoul on Saturday. “The martial law was legal, and president Yoon did it because of the insurrectionary opposition Democratic Party,” said 31-year-old Danny Ko, holding the slogan “Legal martial law, Invalid impeachment!” “The Democratic Party will impeach (acting president) Choi Sang-mok like Han, and the country will go mad.” An anti-Yoon crowd was gathered nearby holding signs such as: “A new leader for the new year” and “Arrest Yoon Suk-yeol”, with many singing along to K-pop songs and John Lennon’s “Imagine”. “I felt so relieved when Han was impeached, he was also part of the insurrection” Kwak Min-jeong, 25, told AFP. Holding a glow stick, Kwak said she would keep protesting until “democracy was achieved”. “We are holding it to show our commitment, and unlike a candle, it will never go off,” she said. Beirut : Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem declared a ‘great victory for the resistance’, asserting that his group had thwarted Israel’s efforts to eliminate Hezbollah and undermine the resistance. “We won because we prevented the enemy from ending Hezbollah and the resistance,” Qassem proclaimed during his first televised speech since the ceasefire with Israel came into effect early Wednesday morning, Xinhua news agency reported. Reflecting on the Israeli ground offensive that began 64 days ago, Qassem acknowledged that the initial attacks had caused about ten days of confusion within Hezbollah. However, he emphasised that the group quickly regrouped, regained its strength, and re-established its command and control systems, eventually launching strikes on Israel’s home front. Qassem described the outcome as “a great victory for the resistance over the Israeli enemy, surpassing even the victory of the July 2006 war,” referencing the 34-day conflict between Hezbollah and Israel that ended with a United Nations-brokered ceasefire. On the ceasefire agreement, Qassem clarified that it “is not a treaty or a new accord, but rather a framework to implement UN Resolution 1701”. He also underlined the coordination between Hezbollah and the Lebanese army in ensuring the agreement’s execution. “The army will oversee security within Lebanon and along its borders, while the resistance remains strong and retains its right to self-defence,” he stated. Qassem also reaffirmed Hezbollah’s unwavering support for Palestine, noting that this commitment would continue through various means. The Israeli cabinet on Tuesday night approved a ceasefire deal with Lebanon, paving the way for an end to a nearly 14-month conflict tied in great part to the ongoing one in the Gaza Strip.Trump threatens 100% tariff on the BRIC bloc of nations if they act to undermine US dollarVictor Wembanyama went to a park in New York City and played 1-on-1 with fans on Saturday. He even lost a couple of games. Not in basketball, though. Wemby was playing chess. And this wasn't on a whim: He knows how to play and even brought his own chess set. Before the San Antonio Spurs left New York for a flight to Minnesota, Wembanyama put out the call on social media: “Who wants to meet me at the SW corner of Washington Square park to play chess? Im there,” Wembanyama wrote. It was 9:36 a.m. People began showing up almost immediately. Washington Square Park is a known spot for chess in New York — Bobby Fischer among others have famously played there, and it's been used for multiple movie scenes featuring the game. Wembanyama was there for an hour in the rain, from about 10-11 a.m. He played four games, winning two and losing two — he told Bleacher Report afterward that both of the losses were to professional chess players — before departing to catch the Spurs' flight. Wembanyama had been trying to get somewhere to play chess for the bulk of the team's time in New York — the Spurs played the Knicks on Christmas and won at Brooklyn on Friday night. The schedule never aligned, until Saturday morning. And even with bad weather, he bundled up to make it happen. He posed for photos with a couple of dozen people who showed up, braving a morning of cold rain to play chess with one of the NBA's biggest stars. “We need an NBA players only Chess tournament, proceeds go to the charity of choice of the winner,” he wrote on social media after his chess trip was over. Wembanyama is averaging 25.2 points and 10.1 rebounds this season, his second in the NBA after winning rookie of the year last season. The Spurs play at Minnesota on Sunday.
