However, the Mayitos have dropped similar leaflets in previous months. Those pamphlets point to numerous businesses that are alleged fronts of the Chapitos faction. In those leaflets, the authors claim that the Chapitos have been extorting everyday citizens, rigging elections, and carrying out numerous other crimes against innocent civilians. Rocha Moya claims that he was out of the country when the meeting took place and had nothing to do with it. The perceived betrayal led to a fierce turf war between the faction led by El Mayo’s son (Mayitos) and the Chapitos.
