SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy will miss Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers with a sore throwing shoulder. Purdy injured his right shoulder in last Sunday's loss to the Seattle Seahawks . Purdy underwent an MRI that showed no structural damage but the shoulder didn't improve during the week and Purdy was ruled out for the game. Coach Kyle Shanahan said star defensive end Nick Bosa also will miss the game with injuries to his left hip and oblique. Left tackle Trent Williams is questionable with an ankle injury and will be a game-time decision. This will be the first time Purdy has missed a start because of an injury since taking over as the 49ers’ quarterback in December 2022. Brandon Allen will start in his place. The Niners (5-5) are currently in a three-way tie for second in the NFC West, a game behind first-place Arizona, and have little margin for error if they want to get back to the playoffs after making it to the Super Bowl last season. Purdy has completed 66% of his passes this season for 2,613 yards, 13 TDs, eight interceptions and a 95.9 passer rating that is down significantly from his league-leading mark of 113 in 2023. Allen has been mostly a backup since being drafted by Jacksonville in 2016. Allen last started a game in Week 18 of the 2021 season for Cincinnati and has thrown just three passes the last three seasons — including none since joining San Francisco in 2023. Joshua Dobbs will be the backup on Sunday. AP NFL: https://apnews.com/hub/NFLRunning back Jace Clarizio flipped his commitment from his local team, Michigan State, to Alabama. The decision, announced by Clarizio on social media Tuesday, comes after the East Lansing (Mich.) High standout visited head coach Kalen DeBoer's Crimson Tide on Nov. 16. "Great program," Clarizio told On3. "Playing on the biggest level. ... All the people and coaches I met and interacted with were all great people. The atmosphere was crazy." The 5-foot-11, 195-pounder is ranked as the No. 33 running back by On3 and tabbed No. 35 in their industry ranking. In May, he had verbally committed to the Spartans, where his father, Craig Johnson, was a running back and defensive back who was a member of the 1987 Rose Bowl-winning squad under coach George Perles. --Field Level MediaEx-FG Cllr was booted from party for sending pornographic material to female staffer causing ‘serious upset & distress’

For many students, getting into the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) is a lifelong dream. However, with limited seats and a tough selection process, this dream often feels out of reach. Every year, approximately 13 lakh students apply for JEE Main, but only the top 2.5 lakh qualify for JEE Advanced. Among them, just 17,000–18,000 secure admission to one of the 23 IITs in India. This leaves many aspirants disheartened. Fortunately, there are several alternative ways to achieve your goal of studying at IIT without solely relying on JEE Advanced. Former Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz withdrew from his nomination to become President-elect Donald Trump's attorney general on Thursday. The announcement has raised questions: What does Gaetz' career look like moving forward, what happens now? Gaetz announced his withdrawal from the role in an X post on Thursday morning, "While the momentum was strong, it is clear that my confirmation was unfairly becoming a distraction to the critical work of the Trump/Vance Transition. There is no time to waste on a needlessly protracted Washington scuffle, thus I'll be withdrawing my name from consideration to serve as Attorney General." Trump nominated Gaetz to become his attorney general on Nov. 13, one week after winning his re-election campaign, defeating Vice President Kamala Harris. Trump took to his social media platform , Truth Social, to respond, sharing his respect for Gaetz' decision: "Matt has a wonderful future, and I look forward to watching all of the great things he will do!" Dig deeper: Matt Gaetz withdraws his name as Trump's nominee for attorney general Did Gaetz resign from Congress? Yes, Gaetz issued his resignation from Congress the same day Trump nominated him to serve as his attorney general. Speaker of the House Mike Johnson announced the news of Gaetz's resignation during a news conference on Nov. 13, adding that the move was effective immediately. Could Gaetz get his seat in Congress back? Yes, in theory, Gaetz could get his seat back in Congress, though his political future was uncertain as of Thursday. On Nov. 5, Gaetz won re-election to the new, 119th Congress , which begins on Jan. 3, 2025. He resigned during the 118th Congress, which began in January 2023 and will cease in January 2025. Gaetz reportedly wrote in his House resignation letter that he did "not intend to" take the oath of office in the new Congress. By federal law, Gaetz could get his seat back in Congress if he were re-elected during a special election. According to the Congressional Research Service, a special election to fill a House vacancy must be issued by the corresponding state's governor. In this case, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis must issue the special election. The scheduling procedures for these special elections differ from state to state, but Florida law does not provide a mandatory timeline. The day after Gaetz issued his resignation from Congress, DeSantis announced on X that he had instructed Florida Secretary of State Cord Byrd to formulate and announce a schedule for an upcoming special election. A date had yet to be announced for this election, as of Thursday afternoon. Gaetz's wife, Ginger, posted a picture of the couple on the steps of the U.S. Capitol, saying, "The end of an era." Why did Gaetz withdraw his AG nomination? Gaetz did not cite a specific reason for his withdrawal, but over the past week, controversy of his bid swelled due to allegations of sex trafficking minors. The Justice Department, which Gaetz would have led if he were attorney general, investigated allegations that Gaetz committed statutory rape by paying for sex with a 17-year-old and for her to travel with him across state lines. The investigation was dropped without charges. But recently, the House Ethics Committee, a bipartisan panel made up of Democrats and Republicans, began investigating the allegations. The committee had planned to vote on whether to release a report of its findings two days after Gaetz resigned from his seat on Congress last week. Who will Trump nominate for AG next? It is unclear who Trump will nominate for attorney general in Gaetz' place. The president-elect has not made an announcement. Riley Beggin and C.A. Bridges contributed to this reporting. Ruud van Nistelrooy treated himself to a beer after enjoying a perfect start to his reign as Leicester manager. Van Nistelrooy’s first game in charge ended with a 3-1 win over West Ham, thanks to goals from Jamie Vardy, Bilal El Khannouss and Patson Daka. The Dutchman, who was out of work for just two weeks following his four-game spell as Manchester United interim boss, only started on Sunday so was happy to end a hectic three days in style. “It has been very busy getting to know everyone, start working together,” he said. “Everybody was involved with that and helping, it was busy, long days, but worth it. I was focused on the game and what the game needed, the subs, the half-time talk, so focused on the moment, so I am going to get myself a little beer and reflect on the last three days.” He endured a dream start as Vardy scored after just 98 seconds with El Khannouss and Daka adding second-half goals. It was by no means one-way traffic, though, as West Ham – who scored a consolation through Niclas Fullkrug at the death – had 30 shots on goal. But Van Nistelrooy saw enough to think he can deliver on his objective of keeping the Foxes in the Premier League. “I am very happy, if you look at the result – and it is about the result – it was a great night, three points, three good goals and also very effective. Ruud at the wheel 🛞 pic.twitter.com/eVgIwWAcYw — Leicester City (@LCFC) December 3, 2024 “Overall the game of course we have seen and how dominant West Ham were at certain stages and what they created, that is a fact and something we have to look at. “Overall, what I expected of the players going forward was togetherness and hunger, energy and spirit in this team that is fighting for every inch. “Eleven players on the pitch who are fighting as a foundation to play the rest of the Premier League. I saw that completely with every single player that started and came on. “That’s the foundation we have to build on, without that it will be impossible to get where we want to go. I am very happy about that.” West Ham’s hierarchy will have seen what impact a managerial change can have as the jury remains out on Julen Lopetegui, with away fans making their feelings clear by chanting “You’re getting sacked in the morning”. Lopetegui expects to keep his job but forthcoming games against his former club Wolves, Bournemouth, Brighton and Southampton could determine the Spaniard’s future. “The only thing that I am worried about is to go to training session tomorrow and stand up the players and prepare the next challenge,” he said. “We have one month of December with a lot of matches and I am sure with this attitude we are going to achieve many more points. “I believe in the players. I am confident that tomorrow we are going to be ready to prepare the next match. “Understanding the question, but at the end of the season maybe we talk in another way. There are a lot of matches and points, a lot of things can happen. “I believe in these players and team, I am sure the position is going to be much better. They are only words but we have to work a lot to achieve this.”
Preview: Holstein Kiel vs. Mainz 05 - prediction, team news, lineupsA measure to bar Montana Rep. Zooey Zephyr, the state’s first transgender legislator, from using the women’s restroom at the State Capitol failed to pass the House Rules Committee on Tuesday, with several Republicans voting against it. The measure, introduced by Republican Rep. Jerry Schillinger, would have required state legislators to use the restrooms of their birth sexes. The measure “says what probably shouldn’t need to be said and puts into rules what probably shouldn’t need to be put into rules,” Schillinger said Tuesday at a meeting of the Joint House and Senate Rules Committees ahead of Montana’s next legislative session in January. The proposal, which needed support from a majority of both committees to pass, failed, with the Senate committee voting 11-7 in favor and the House committee voting 10-12 against. Zephyr — who drew international attention and became a nationally recognized face among the LGBTQ community last year when she was censured in the Montana Legislature — thanked her colleagues who voted against the measure in a statement on social media. “I’m happy to see that this proposed ban failed and am grateful for my colleagues—particularly my republican colleagues—who recognized this as a distraction from the work we were elected to do,” Zephyr wrote on X . “I’m ready to represent my constituents and look forward to working on behalf of the people of Montana.” Rep. David Bedey was among the four Republicans who voted against the measure, arguing that the Legislature’s rules are intended to allow the body to act on behalf of Montanans in an efficient manner. “This particular action will have the effect of making people famous in the national news and will not contribute to the effective conduct of our business,” Bedey said before Tuesday’s vote . He added that restroom access wasn’t an issue for the female legislators he spoke with in the last legislative session. Rep. Brad Barker, also a Republican, agreed with Bedey, saying the issue was becoming “a distraction.” Republican Rep. Jedediah Hinkle supported the measure, saying that the Legislature has only one trans legislator but that it could have more in the future. “I think it’s time this body addresses this issue now as they are addressing it nationally,” he said. “We need to set that precedent right now that women have their spaces and they need to be comfortable in those spaces, and I think we ought to stand up for them.” Hinkle appeared to be alluding to a recent debate in the U.S. Capitol following Delaware’s election of Sarah McBride, who will become the country’s first openly transgender member of Congress next month. Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., introduced a resolution last month to prohibit any lawmakers and House employees from “using single-sex facilities other than those corresponding to their biological sex.” In remarks that misgendered her, Mace told reporters that the measure was, indeed, intended to target McBride, adding that she is “absolutely 100% going to stand in the way of any man who wants to be in a women’s restroom, in our locker rooms, in our changing rooms.” She added, “I will be there fighting you every step of the way.” House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., said he supports Mace’s effort , though his statement of support doesn’t formally change the rules package for the new congressional session, which starts in January. On Nov. 20, McBride responded to Mace’s proposal and Johnson’s response, writing on X: “I’m not here to fight about bathrooms. I’m here to fight for Delawareans and to bring down costs facing families. Like all members, I will follow the rules as outlined by Speaker Johnson, even if I disagree with them. She added, “This effort to distract from the real issues facing this country hasn’t distracted me over the last several days, as I’ve remained hard at work preparing to represent the greatest state in the union come January.” In the days following McBride’s statement, Zephyr encouraged her not to “cede ground.” “When we see policies targeting trans women just trying to live their lives in the restroom, trying to play sports with their friends — that is not where the hate stops from the right,” Zephyr said in an interview with Scripps News at the time. “That hate is on display at every moment, which is why it’s important for us to resist these efforts to target our community.”
