Share Tweet Share Share Email When it comes to trekking in Nepal, two predominant courses that regularly come up for talk are the Langtang Valley trek and the Mardi Himal trek. Both are astounding in their own right, promoting uncommon Himalayan sees, arranged scenes, and a chance to immerse yourself in the neighborhood culture. In any case, they differentiate from distinctive perspectives, such as the level of inconvenience, length, height, accessibility, and common association. In choosing between the Langtang Valley trek and the Mardi Himal trek, it’s crucial to survey a few key components to choose which one alters best with your trekking plans and goals. Overview of Both Treks Langtang Valley Trek The Langtang Valley trek is one of the classic trekking courses in Nepal, frequently considered as a more accessible elective to the more swarmed Everest or Annapurna circuits. The trek takes you significantly into the Langtang district, which is found in the central parcel of Nepal, to the Langtang Valley, often insinuated as the “Valley of Ice Sheets. The Langtang Valley is known for its superb scenes, affluent Tamang culture, and breathtaking views of the Langtang Lirung (7,227 meters) and other including peaks. The trek routinely keeps going between 7 and 10 days, making it a coordinated trek that is sensible for trekkers with a few past associations at higher altitudes. Mardi Himal Trek The Mardi Himal trek is a lesser-known and more well-known trek in the Annapurna district. This trip takes you to the Mardi Himal Base Camp, which lies underneath the towering Mardi Himal (5,587 meters) and Machapuchare (6,993 meters). The course offers astonishing views of the Annapurna massif, Dhaulagiri, and other enveloping peaks. The Mardi Himal trek is considered to be for the most part brief (more regularly than not around 5 to 7 days) and is prominent for its faultless heavenliness, off-the-beaten-path feel, and coordinate level of inconvenience. The trek is idealized for those who require a calmer, less-crowded inclusion while still getting a charge out of superb scenes and close-up views of the Annapurna range. Key Factors to Consider When Choosing Between the Two Treks: 1. Trekking Difficulty Langtang Valley trek: Though the Langtang Valley trek is considered coordinate, it incorporates walking at higher statues for a few days, with the most hoisted point being Kyanjin Ri (4,773 meters) or Tsergo Ri (4,980 meters) for trekkers requiring a more challenging summit. This infers there’s an extended danger of stature affliction, in showing disdain toward the truth that the moderate climb minimizes the chances. Trekking in Langtang can be physically demanding due to the length of the trip and a few soak zones, but it is sensible for fit trekkers with past trekking experience. Mardi Himal trek: The Mardi Himal trek is for the most portion less requesting in terms of tallness and inconvenience. The most lifted point on the trip is Mardi Himal Base Camp (4,500 meters), which is lower than the Langtang Valley’s most lifted centers. The way is shorter and habitually gentler, with dynamic climbs and less long days compared to Langtang. This trek is considered sensible for juveniles who are in extraordinary physical condition, in show disdain toward the reality that a few levels of wellness are still required. Highlights: If you’re an experienced trekker looking for a more challenging undertaking, the Langtang Valley trek might be a way superior fit. Be that as it may, if you’re cutting edge to trekking or slanted toward a shorter, less strenuous trek, the Mardi Himal trek is more suitable. 2. Term and Accessibility Langtang Valley trek: Langtang Valley trek frequently takes around 7 to 10 days, depending on the specific plan and your pace. It starts from Syabrubesi, which is a 7-8 hour drive from Kathmandu. The trek incorporates a steady climb, with various stops at small towns along the way. Since Langtang is a well-known district for trekkers, teahouses and establishments are set up, in show disdain toward the reality that a few parts of the trek may still be affected by the 2015 earthquake. Mardi Himal trek: The Mardi Himal trek is shorter, customarily completed in 5 to 7 days. The trip begins from Kande, which is around a 1-2 hour drive from Pokhara. The openness is by and large less demanding compared to Langtang, and the region has less trekkers, promoting a more peaceful experience. The course as well passes through lovely terraced farms, timberlands, and ordinary towns, with tea houses open along the way. Highlights: If you’re looking for a speedier, more accessible trek that can fit into a brief event, the Mardi Himal trek is an uncommon elective. Be that as it may, if you have more time to spare and are required to immerse yourself in a longer, more routine trip with astonishing valley views, Langtang is the way to go. 3. Height and Acclimatization Langtang Valley trek: The Langtang Valley trek comes to statues over 4,000 meters, which infers authentic acclimatization is imperative to evade rise affliction. The trip has a steady climb, but you will still require to give your body time to change to the higher statues, especially if you orchestrate to summit Kyanjin Ri or Tsergo Ri. Mardi Himal trek: Whereas the Mardi Himal trek does reach a tall point at Mardi Himal Base Camp (4,500 meters), it is still less asking in terms of tallness. Since the trek is shorter and the climb is moderate, acclimatization isn’t as fundamental as it would be on Langtang. Highlights: Langtang presents a more noticeable stature challenge, making it more fitting for trekkers who have prior association with high-altitude trekking. Mardi Himal is a way superior choice for those unused to trekking at tallness or for those who incline toward a trek that is not as physically saddling at higher elevations. 4. Lovely Brilliance and Views Langtang Valley trek: The Langtang Valley offers brilliant views of snow-capped peaks like Langtang Lirung, Ganesh Himal, and the Langtang amplify. The trek takes you through grouped scenes, tallying thick forests, lifted glades, and tall mountain edges. The valley itself is wealthy and green, with the elective to examine frigid masses and appreciate all enveloping sees of the including peaks. Mardi Himal trek: The Mardi Himal trek offers uncommon sights of the Annapurna run, tallying Annapurna South, Machapuchare (Point Tail), and Mardi Himal itself. The trek’s heavenliness lies in the faultless forests, terraced zones, and calm mountain towns. Since Mardi Himal is less trafficked, you’ll appreciate segregation and untainted sights that feel more intimate compared to the more predominant Langtang Valley. Highlights: Both treks offer astonishing views, but if you require to experience the enormity of the Langtang run and the well off social scenes of the Langtang Valley, the Langtang trek is culminating. For calmer, more idealized mountain vistas and a closer-up view of the Annapurna massif, Mardi Himal is an astonishing choice. 5. Social Experience Langtang Valley trek: The Langtang Valley is a household to the Tamang people, a Tibetan ethnic group, and trekkers can submerge themselves in their curious culture, traditions, and way of life. Along the way, you’ll pass through towns like Langtang, Rimche, and Kyanjin Gumba, where you can visit devout communities, experience adjacent neighborliness, and see Tibetan-influenced architecture. Mardi Himal trek: The Mardi Himal trek also offers social encounters, particularly with the Gurung people, who are known for their neighborliness and close-knit communities. The trek passes through blocked off towns like Moo Camp and Tall Camp, where you can get to be related with nearby individuals and their culture. The Mardi Himal district has a calmer, more intimate social feel than Langtang, as it is less frequented by tourists. Highlights: Both treks offer social experiences, but if you incline toward an involvement with a more unmistakable Tibetan-influenced culture, Langtang is the superior choice. If you’re looking for a calmer, more rural social association, Mardi Himal offers this in spades. Crowd:The Mardi Himal trek is generally less crowded than the Langtang Valley trek and Annapurna circuit trek. Conclusion Choosing between the Langtang Valley trek and the Mardi Himal trek inevitably depends on your needs. If you are looking for a harder and longer trip with incredible mountain vistas, social luxuriousness, and a by and large well-established establishment, the Langtang Valley trek is an extraordinary choice. In any case, if you are brief on time and slanted toward a calmer trek with more culminate sightings and a sense of examination, the Mardi Himal trek might be more suited to your preferences. Ultimately, both treks deliver a curious opportunity to include Nepal’s astonishing characteristic brilliance and are related with the welcoming people who call the mountains household. Assess your wellness level, time confinements, and the sort of experience you need, and you’ll find that either trek can offer you a truly crucial encounter in the heart of the Himalayas. According to the agency, Walmart and the vendor, Branch Messenger, forced drivers of the Walmart Spark Driver gig-work platform, to use Branch Messenger's deposit accounts to collect their compensation — or be terminated if they did not want to use this service . Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) also alleges that drivers faced delays or fees if they needed to transfer the mone y into an account of their choice. According to the agency , this also resulted in workers paying more than $10 million in fees since 2021 to transfer earnings. “Walmart made false promises, illegally opened accounts, and took advantage of more than a million delivery drivers,” said CFPB Director Rohit Chopra. “Companies cannot force workers into getting paid through accounts that drain their earnings with junk fees.” Walmart delays 2025 and 2030 climate targets citing energy policy and tech challenges Walmart employee shares firm response to customer who refused to scan her own items at self checkout A statement issued by the superstore claimed the lawsuit was "riddled with factual errors" and "exaggerations and blatant misstatements of settled principles of law." "The CFPB never allowed Walmart a fair opportunity to present its case during their rushed investigation," it said. "We look forward to vigorously defending the Company before a court that, unlike the CFPB, honors the due process of law." Branch Messenger also said in a statement that the CFPB's suit "misstates the law and facts" while omitting items designed to "mask the Bureau's clear overreach." "Despite the company’s extensive cooperation with its investigation, the CFPB refused to engage with Branch in any meaningful way about this matter, instead rushing to file a lawsuit," Branch said. "This approach makes clear that this litigation has nothing to do with the law or protecting workers and everything to do with the media attention garnered by a lawsuit involving one of the world’s biggest retailers." The lawsuit against Walmart comes as the CFPB filed a flurry of lawsuits as the Biden administration enters its final weeks and the agency's future is clouded by uncertainty. Just last week, the CFPB sued three of the US's largest banks claiming that they failed to curb fraud on the digital payments platform Zelle. All three banks and Zelle have refuted the claim. CFPB also Comerica Bank for allegedly harming consumers enrolled in the federal government's Direct Express federal benefits delivery program. Comerica has refuted the charges and has since issued a counter-lawsuit to CFPB. In addition to the lawsuits, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has announced that they will be instituting four new rules that would limit the amount of money banks would be allowed to charge overdraft fees. According to the agency, the rules would save the average American $5 billion annually. According to NBC News, the agency has been weighing which rules they want to finalize before Republicans take control of both the House of Representatives and Senate in January. Hearts 1 Celtic 4: Second half blitz sees Celts open up gap at the top
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Jalen Hurts remained in the NFL's concussion protocol on Monday, limiting his ability to practice this week for the Philadelphia Eagles and casting doubt on his availability for Sunday's game against Dallas. If Hurts can't play, the Eagles would turn to backup Kenny Pickett — who suffered a rib injury and couldn't protect a big lead in a 36-33 loss to Washington — with third-stringer Tanner McKee on deck. The Eagles (12-3) need to win one more game over the final two to clinch an NFC East title and one of the conference's top two seeds. Coach Nick Sirianni gave no additional health update on Hurts but did say the QB who led the Eagles to 10 straight wins before he was forced out with the head injury wouldn't need much time this week to get ready against the Cowboys, if he was cleared. “Jalen knows how to prepare,” Sirianni said. “He knows how to get himself ready. He's a true pro." The Eagles are 9 1/2-point favorites over the division rival Cowboys (7-8), per BetMGM Sportsbook. Sirianni said the Eagles would lean on the medical staff on a daily basis to know where Hurts — who threw two touchdown passes and ran for a pair of scores in the first meeting against Dallas in November — was in his recovery from the head injury. Hurts was ruled out early at Washington after his head slammed against the ground on one run and he was hit in the helmet by Commanders linebacker Frankie Luvu at the end of another. “He's always done a good job of protecting himself both as a passer and a runner,” Sirianni said. “Any time you lose one of your best players, you wish they'd do something else or not take that hit." Hurts shook off a sluggish start over the first four games and has thrown 18 touchdowns against just five interceptions to turn the Eagles into Super Bowl contenders. “Every time there's a player out,” Sirianni said, “there's an adjustment to be made.” Saquon Barkley and the running game. Barkley was held to 41 yards after the first quarter but 150 yards is 150 yards and he still has a shot at NFL history. Barkley leads the NFL with 1,838 yards rushing and is 268 yards away from passing Eric Dickerson and his 2,105 yards for the Los Angeles Rams in 1984 for the season mark. Barkley is 162 yards shy of becoming the ninth player in NFL history with 2,000 yards rushing in a season. Backup QB. Pickett was 14 of 24 for 143 yards in relief, throwing a touchdown pass to A.J. Brown and an interception. Pickett played his first meaningful football in a year. The Eagles use McKee as the emergency QB, but the sixth-round pick in the 2023 draft could be in the mix if Hurts sat out against Dallas. Pickett is from New Jersey and said when he was acquired from Pittsburgh that he had “great memories” of going to games at Lincoln Financial Field with his dad and grandfather since he was 5. The chance to run out of the home team tunnel — which he could get Sunday if he's the starting QB — left him absolutely delighted. Pickett, a first-round pick out of Pitt in 2022, went 14-10 as a starter for the Steelers. “I was impressed by Pickett, honestly," Washington coach Dan Quinn said Monday. "I thought he threw the ball with good accuracy to the right spots. He’s a nice athlete (who can) move, so I can see why they would want him in that system. I thought he got outside and had good scramble ability. Wasn’t surprised they didn’t run the sneaks to go through that.” Zack Baun. The linebacker barely caused a ripple on the transactions wire in March but has been arguably the MVP of the defense. He forced a fumble in the third quarter that set up a score, one of five turnovers for the Eagles. He also had two tackles for losses. The No. 1 seed. The Eagles all but cost themselves a shot at the top spot in the NFC and a bye with the late-game collapse in Washington. The Eagles will clinch the division with a victory over the Cowboys or Giants and most likely will finish with the No. 2 seed. They are one game behind both the Detroit Lions (13-2) and the Minnesota Vikings (13-2) in the NFC standings. Eagles fans can still chant, “We're No. 1!” but it's a long shot. To clinch the No. 1 seed, the Eagles need to beat Dallas and the Giants. And the Lions need to lose their last two games against San Francisco (6-9) and Minnesota. And the Vikings needs to lose to Green Bay (10-4) and beat the Lions in Week 18. Should the status quo remain, the Eagles would host Washington in a playoff game. Beyond Hurts, edge rusher Josh Sweat left with an ankle injury and defensive tackle Jordan Davis limped off in the second quarter. ... Pickett said he had his ribs X-rayed and would undergo further testing. Sirianni had no update Monday on Pickett's condition. 1,000 — Brown became the first Eagles receiver to top 1,000 yards in three straight seasons since Mike Quick from 1983-85. The Eagles can clinch the division and a home playoff game with two lightweights left on the schedule, both at home. The Eagles play Dallas on Sunday in a game bumped to a 1 p.m. kickoff and end the season against the New York Giants. AP NFL: https://apnews.com/hub/nfl
Residents in a Gold Coast suburb have reportedly been warned to stay indoors amid a major police operation to find three men who are believed to be armed with a firearm and machete. Authorities were alerted at about 4.45am on Christmas Eve, when it is believed the men entered a property in the Gold Coast suburb of Arundel and allegedly stole money, before leaving the scene in a vehicle. No one was physically injured in the incident. A car was later located in the nearby suburb of Gilston, with a Queensland Police spokesman confirming officers were searching surrounding bushland. The police operation remains active, including a large-scale search involving PolAir. On social media, Gilston residents said they have been told by police to “stay inside,” and reported seeing a large police precence with officers dressed in camo gear and bulletproof vests. However a police spokesperson said there is currently no emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA). COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — A fight broke out at midfield after Michigan stunned No. 2 Ohio State 13-10 on Saturday as Wolverines players attempted to plant their flag and were met by Buckeyes who confronted them. Police had to use pepper spray to break up the players, who threw punches and shoves in the melee that overshadowed the rivalry game. Ohio State police said in a statement “multiple officers representing Ohio and Michigan deployed pepper spray.” Ohio State police will investigate the fight, according to the statement. After the Ohio State players confronted their bitter rivals at midfield, defensive end Jack Sawyer grabbed the top of the Wolverines' flag and ripped it off the pole as the brawl moved toward the Michigan bench. Eventually, police officers rushed into the ugly scene. Ohio State coach Ryan Day said he understood the actions of his players. “There are some prideful guys on our team who weren't going to sit back and let that happen,” Day said. The two Ohio State players made available after the game brushed off questions about it. Michigan running back Kalel Mullings, who rushed for 116 yards and a touchdown, didn't like how the Buckeyes players involved themselves in the Wolverines' postgame celebration. He called it “classless.” “For such a great game, you hate to see stuff like that after the game," he said in an on-field interview with Fox Sports. “It’s just bad for the sport, bad for college football. But at the end of the day, you know some people got to — they got to learn how to lose, man. ... We had 60 minutes, we had four quarters, to do all that fighting.” Michigan coach Sherrone Moore said everybody needs to do better. “So much emotions on both sides," he said. "Rivalry games get heated, especially this one. It’s the biggest one in the country, so we got to handle that better.” Get poll alerts and updates on the AP Top 25 throughout the season. Several times following New England’s 24-21 loss to the Buffalo Bills, Patriots coach Jerod Mayo said he wanted to review the game film before making a final assessment of his team’s performance. He did, and on Monday he said the overarching feeling he was left with was one of pride. Going toe-to-toe with one of the best teams in the NFL is commendable. Mayo also remains confident this group has even more room for growth over its final two games this season. “To be frank, I don’t believe in good losses,” Mayo said. “I think there’s a lot to learn from the game. Look, we’re headed in the right direction, but it’s all about consistency, and we have to do that on a down-after-down, a game-after-game basis to be successful in this league.” What is also clear is that despite their 3-12 record, Patriots rookie quarterback Drake Maye wants people to know that he and his teammates believe in their coach. No matter what conversations might be going on outside the Patriots locker room regarding shortcomings by the coaching staff, or Mayo’s job status. “We’ve got his back, and he’s coached us hard. He wants to win. We all want to win. We’re all frustrated,” Maye said. “We’re just plays away, and it’s basically me turning the ball over. I think it’s just a testament to these guys that keep fighting. We keep fighting. Shoot, we’re not going to make the playoffs; we’re out of the race, and these guys are coming in, frustrated when we don’t score. ... So, I think we’re building something good, building something that feels right here, and I’m proud to be a Patriot.” What’s working The Patriots entered the week scoring only 7.5 points per game in the first half this season, which ranked 29th in the NFL. The offense woke up with 14 points in the first half on Sunday, notching multiple offensive touchdowns in the first half for the first time in 2024. What needs help Stopping the run has been an issue for New England’s defense for most of the season and it was on display against the Bills. With Buffalo trailing 14-0 in the second quarter, running back James Cook sliced through the interior of the Patriots defense and broke free for a 46-yard TD run. It was a big chunk of Buffalo’s 172 yards on the ground for the game. Stock up CB Jonathan Jones. He was tasked with being the primary defender on Buffalo’s top receiver Khalil Shakir for most of the game. The veteran held his own, helping limit the Bills’ leader in catches and receiving yards to only two catches for 22 yards on six targets. Jones also forced a fumble by Shakir in the fourth quarter, though Shakir was able to recover it. Stock down Marte Mapu. The linebacker started at safety with Jabrill Peppers sidelined with a hamstring injury. Mapu was strong for most of the game and had a chance to set up the Patriots offense in the second quarter when he snagged his second career interception, picking off Josh Allen’s pass in the end zone. But Mapu decided to run the ball out of the end zone and was tackled on the New England 1-yard line. The poor starting field position eventually led to a punt and the Patriots couldn’t add to their 14-7 lead. Injuries The Patriots didn’t announce any injuries during the game. But along with Peppers, cornerback Marcus Jones also sat out with a hip injury. Key number 2-6 — The Patriots’ record in one-score games this season. Four of those have been by three or fewer points. Next steps The Patriots host the Los Angeles Chargers on Saturday. ___ AP NFL: https://apnews.com/hub/nfl Kyle Hightower, The Associated Press
