His potential is sky-high, and the football world eagerly awaits to see how far he can go in his career. An unlikely friendship is brewing in the latest series of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! and fans are even demanding a podcast from the pair. On Monday night's show, Loose women star GK Barry and the Reverend Richard Coles enjoyed a heart-to-heart in the jungle. GK, whose real name is Grace, spoke to Richard about juggling his sexuality and religion and asked him: “Did you find it quite difficult being gay and doing that job?” Richard confessed: “No, not at all. I’ve never given it a moment’s twinge of anxiety over whether God thought it was alright or not. Whether other people thought it was alright or not, well I’m happy to have that argument...” He added of his sexuality: “Also, I was not the first. Sometimes I look at documents from the early church, or the church of the middle ages and I just think - so gay.” GK admitted in the Bush Telegraph: “I came into this jungle, maybe not knowing who I would gel with or who I would be close with in here and never in a million years if you told me that I would be getting on best with a reverend would I have believed you. But, he is honestly... I think he might be my favourite person in here.” GK told Richard she used to be religious, and spoke about going to a religious camp when she was younger, where there were men telling her not to have sex before she was married. She said that even at 13, she thought: “Well, that’s not gonna happen. I see my future and it involves scissoring now.” After GK explained "scissoring" to the Rev, the topic of conversation moved along to GK asking Richard who the most interesting person that he thinks he’s met. Richard replied: “I think I’m looking at her.” Viewers rushed to social media to comment on the blossoming friendship with one comparing them to previous campmates Georgia Toffolo and Stanley Johnson, saying: "GK and Richard’s friendship reminds me so much of Toff & Stanley." Another said: "GK Barry & Rev are fantastic Together." While a third added: "Gk Barry and the rev is giving Toff and Stanley!" There was also a demand for the pair to work together again with one viewer commenting: "We need to get GK Barry and Rev. Richard Coles a video podcast after this." Elsewhere on the show, fans have spotted the latest jungle feud after Dean McCullough refused to heed a warning from fellow campmate Tulisa Constostavlos. In Sunday's edition of the Australia-based ITV reality show hosted by Ant and Dec , there was a shake-up in camp when Tulisa and Coronation Street star Alan Halsall ended their time as leaders and were replaced by McFly's Danny Jones and boxing legend Barry McGuigan. It meant the pair had to give up their beds in the Leaders' Lodge for their successors and camp alongside the other contestants in the jungle. Tulisa chose a spot by the campfire but warned Radio 1 Breakfast Show host Dean McCullogh not to perform any musical theatre songs first thing in the morning as she wouldn't be happy. In Monday's episode, Tulisa decided to sleep in - that is, until the camp decided to wake her up with the sound of musical theatre. Dean said: “Now that she’s out of the Leaders’ Lodge, Tulisa has warned me that there must be no musical theatre early in the morning, so I made it my mission to make sure the camp woke up this morning with the sound of lovely singing!” Meanwhile, latecomer Maura Higgins celebrated her 34th birthday in camp and Dean faced his sixth Bushtucker Trial, Jack and the Scream Stalk - and broke his record, collecting 10 oiut of the 12 stars. I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! is on ITV1 and ITVX

The book, Quran and Modernity by a former Indian ambassador to several countries is spread over 16 chapters. Every chapter deals with one of the most debated subjects. Ishrat Aziz is an erudite diplomat, who has collected information from a variety of sources and experienced how things related to Islam are dealt with in the Muslim world in the name of Islam. Among the countries he has served are the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Algeria, etc. “I have been collecting information about Islam from several sources including my own country, India. After observing Islam in these countries I have tried to present what I understood from it,” says he. In his new avatar as a scholar of Islam, he has raised some pointed and pertinent questions. These may be the same questions with which several scholars in different parts of the world are grappling with. Declares, he: “There is no one unanimously agreed Sharia, universally practiced by all Muslims. Why not since all Sharia is derived from one book, the Koran? Why there is this diversity in understanding the same text of the scripture?” He goes on to lob a volley of questions on unanimity or absence of those questions leaving his reader confounded to the core until he reaches the last chapters of the book. Fifty-seven countries are members of the Organisation of the Islamic Countries or simply OIC. There are also several other countries like India and the Russian Federation where millions of followers of the faith reside. The number of Muslims in the world could be around 2 billion. The Muslim countries are often found fighting with each other. Muslim societies like others are riven with internal divisions and conflicts and in many cases battle with each other. These wars are based on sectarianism, ethnicity, historical animosities, economic disparities, and narrow self-interests. He asked some of the most uncomfortable questions and went about giving their answers. An impossible task, I would say. He explains Sharia as the interpretation of the Koran, with the help of Sunnah and Ahadith (sayings of the Prophet), by the four Imams but declares it is not divine. There is no unanimity on Sharia, he adds. He believes devotional religion is entirely between man and God. Society does not have the right to intervene in this man-God relationship. Attempts by society to involve itself in a man’s devotional dimension will damage the sacred relationship between man and God. Society should keep away from it because it cannot know or decide the truth about a person’s faith or spirituality or lack of them. Aziz adds that behavioral religion covers man’s relationship with society, other men and women, government, laws, human rights, economy, science, technology, and the people of other faiths. Therefore, these are the areas that have to be looked at differently as Muslims grapple with the changing times. He has successfully tried to make this book relevant to Islam and Modernity and Muslims and Modernity. He explains rightly that the Quran (or Koran as the author spells it) is the divinely revealed Scripture; Islam is the theology written by human beings trying to interpret the Quran; Muslims are the people who practice the faith as they understand it. I, a student of Islam and current affairs, found the book astounding. I would like to read it again and again to understand the complex question of how Muslims have tried to understand and practice the Quran over the ages and now. Undercover FBI agents were not present during the 2021 attack on the US Capitol by Donald Trump supporters, a Justice Department watchdog said Thursday in a report debunking a popular right-wing conspiracy theory. "We found no evidence in the materials we reviewed or the testimony we received showing or suggesting that the FBI had undercover employees in the various protest crowds, or at the Capitol, on January 6," Justice Department inspector general Michael Horowitz said in an 88-page report. Thousands of Trump supporters stormed the US Capitol on January 6 in a bid to prevent congressional certification of Democrat Joe Biden's election victory. Right-wing media and even some Republican lawmakers have spuriously claimed that undercover FBI agents provoked the attack on Congress, which followed a fiery speech by Trump in which he falsely claimed the election had been stolen. The inspector general said that while no undercover FBI agents were present at the Trump rally or the Capitol, 26 FBI informants known as confidential human sources (CHS) were in Washington at the time. Three of the informants had been tasked with reporting on domestic terrorist suspects while the others were there on their own. "None of these FBI CHSs were authorized to enter the Capitol or a restricted area, or to otherwise break the law on January 6, nor was any CHS directed by the FBI to encourage others to commit illegal acts on January 6," the report said. The inspector general also said there had been an intelligence-gathering failure by the FBI ahead of the January 6 attack. "While the FBI undertook significant efforts to identify domestic terrorism subjects who planned to travel to the Capital region on January 6," the report said, "the FBI did not take a step that could have helped the FBI and its law enforcement partners with their preparations. "Specifically, the FBI did not canvass its field offices in advance of January 6, 2021, to identify any intelligence, including CHS reporting, about potential threats to the January 6 Electoral Certification," it said. FBI deputy director Paul Abbate was quoted as saying this was a "basic step that was missed" in "understanding the threat picture prior to January 6." Trump was impeached by the Democratic-majority House of Representatives following the attack on the Capitol, but acquitted by the Senate. He is to return to the White House on January 20 after defeating Vice President Kamala Harris in the November presidential election. More than 1,500 people have been charged in connection with the assault on Congress. Trump has lauded them as "patriots" and "political prisoners" and pledged to pardon many of them when he returns to the White House. cl/stNone
