go777 app By Jennifer Williams, Trenton North Ward Councilwoman The USDOJ’s findings regarding the conduct and enforcement of laws by some members of our Trenton Police Department were appalling and disappointing. The terrible actions described and the lack of reaction and response by our Internal Affairs division must never be allowed to happen again. For Trentonians to follow the established complaint process and not be respected, heard or seemingly deemed worthy of an investigation is unconscionable. To have so many reports of excessive or illegal use of force and violations of the Fourth Amendment to the US Constitution is a travesty. Having gotten to know many of our officers and some our TPD leadership over the past two years, I am confident that TPD will take the DOJ’s reported findings to heart and make the recommended changes needed in order to protect all Trentonians and ensure law enforcement treats EVERYONE equally, justly and safely – while obeying and honoring the US Constitution and our laws. To this end, I am additionally calling upon our TPD to bring back the community policing tactic of walking beats in our neighborhoods and downtown on a regular basis. We must make sure that officers serving our city know the residents they serve and residents know their serving officers. As a retired African American officer said to me, “They must get out of their cars to know the people.” I (and many other Trentonians) agree with him. TPD leadership needs to begin scheduling beat patrols as soon as possible. Trust must be regained between our citizenry and our police force and I can’t think of any better way for that to happen than for us to share the sidewalks of our capital city as was done long ago. Living in a predominantly African American city with a large Latino population, a special responsibility exists to ensure that all citizens’ Constitutional Rights are not violated by our law enforcement personnel as has been historically done in too many parts of the United States. No one should fear for their lives when our police interact with them. However, criminals should fear that our police will legally move heaven and earth to capture them and bring them to justice. Trentonians want better and more reliable police. We already have many qualified, knowledgeable and dedicated officers already on the force. My heart feels for these officers that because of the actions from some of their colleagues, these good and dedicated officers may be looked upon poorly and unfairly. Though this situation taints our police department – when we hear the sirens blare, I believe we will be able to count on our officers to continue risking themselves for us every day. Having recently completed the Trenton Police Department’s Citizens Police Academy with other Trentonians and some of my City Council colleagues, I learned a lot about our department and how it functions. We learned how they respond to calls, how they must make split second use of force decisions and even crime scene investigation procedures. All very important things to learn from the police officer’s perspective. We also learned a great deal about their commitment to uphold the law, protect citizens and their honor with which they serve each day. While there clearly have been officers who fell short of honoring their badge and oath, I believe the vast majority of officers have done their duty well and that the will for reform is there in the police department. In the future, procedures for the dismissal of officers who fall short of their duties and their oath must be more clear-cut. If you violate citizens’ rights, you have to go. Finally, it has long been clear that we must recruit more officers from within our diverse city no matter what they look like, who they are or where they are from. Thankfully, this is already happening with many applications already filed for the next recruiting class. Bravo to Director Steve Wilson and the Trenton Police Department’s Community Affairs team for getting the word out for new officers into our community. As good as that news is, though, new officers will not reverse the sins of the past or create concrete changes such as training, supervision and technological improvements. We will need great financial support and oversight for that. I am calling upon the US Department of Justice and the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs to provide both the funding and oversight needed to bring the Trenton Police Department fully into the 21st Century in every way possible. To not do so sacrifices the chance for real reforms and sentences our city to struggle again as before. I offer my full confidence and support to Mayor Reed Gusciora, Police Director Steve Wilson, and all of our TPD and Administration personnel who will be involved in improving our police department. What was described in the USDOJ report will open many minds to allow reflection on the mistakes that were made. He would also make a rare public appearance on October 1 as his hometown celebrated his 100th birthday. “Rosalynn was my equal partner in everything I ever accomplished,” President Carter said after his wife passed away. “She gave me wise guidance and encouragement when I needed it. As long as Rosalynn was in the world, I always knew somebody loved and supported me.” The couple was married for 77 years. They met as children, both growing up in Plains, Georgia. Their storied romance started when Jimmy was 17 years old. After their first date, he reportedly told his mom, “She’s the girl I want to marry.” The pair would marry not long after — in 1946. The couple moved to Norfolk, Virginia, where Jimmy was stationed after graduating from the U.S. Naval Academy. Like many military families, the Carters moved from city to city. Their three sons were born in three different states: Virginia, Hawaii and Connecticut. Their only daughter was born in their home state of Georgia. Jimmy left the military in 1953 and began a career in politics about 10 years later. After serving four years as governor, Jimmy decided to run for president. Jimmy Carter would go on to defeat President Gerald Ford and become the 39th president of the United States. Rosalynn was an active first lady. She attended cabinet meetings and frequently represented her husband at ceremonial events. Rosalynn shared in her husband’s efforts to work to make the U.S. government more “competent and compassionate,” the White House said. After leaving the White House in 1981, the couple returned to Georgia. They would go on to become some of the most notable philanthropists in the world. They founded The Carter Center, which is committed to protecting human rights around the world.

On Nov. 8, Stop & Shop’s parent company, Ahold Delhaize, said it identified a cybersecurity issue within its U.S. systems, prompting an investigation. The company was vague about what processes were threatened during the attack but said the incident impacted some pharmacies, e-commerce online, and product deliveries. After the cyber attack, the company said it was working quickly to restock its inventory. On Friday, less than one week before Thanksgiving, a Stop & Shop spokesperson said the grocer was fully stocked and ready for shoppers. “Stop & Shop stores are stocked and largely recovered,” Stop & Shop Corporate Communications Manager Caroline Medeiros said Friday. “We recognize the high trust our customers place in us to nourish their families and our communities, and we deeply appreciate their patience as we worked to restock our shelves. But alongside his stark warning of the threats facing Britain and its allies, Admiral Sir Tony Radakin said there would be only a “remote chance” Russia would directly attack or invade the UK if the two countries were at war. The Chief of the Defence Staff laid out the landscape of British defence in a wide-ranging speech, after a minister warned the Army would be wiped out in as little as six months if forced to fight a war on the scale of the Ukraine conflict. The admiral cast doubt on the possibility as he gave a speech at the Royal United Services Institute (Rusi) defence think tank in London. He told the audience Britain needed to be “clear-eyed in our assessment” of the threats it faces, adding: “That includes recognising that there is only a remote chance of a significant direct attack or invasion by Russia on the United Kingdom, and that’s the same for the whole of Nato.” Moscow “knows the response will be overwhelming”, he added, but warned the nuclear deterrent needed to be “kept strong and strengthened”. Sir Tony added: “We are at the dawn of a third nuclear age, which is altogether more complex. It is defined by multiple and concurrent dilemmas, proliferating nuclear and disruptive technologies and the almost total absence of the security architectures that went before.” The first nuclear age was the Cold War, while the second was “governed by disarmament efforts and counter proliferation”, the armed forces chief said. He listed the “wild threats of tactical nuclear use” by Russia, China building up its weapon stocks, Iran’s failure to co-operate with a nuclear deal, and North Korea’s “erratic behaviour” among the threats faced by the West. But Sir Tony said the UK’s nuclear arsenal is “the one part of our inventory of which Russia is most aware and has more impact on (President Vladimir) Putin than anything else”. Successive British governments had invested “substantial sums of money” in renewing nuclear submarines and warheads because of this, he added. The admiral described the deployment of thousands of North Korean soldiers on Ukraine’s border alongside Russian forces as the year’s “most extraordinary development”. He also signalled further deployments were possible, speaking of “tens of thousands more to follow as part of a new security pact with Russia”. Defence minister Alistair Carns earlier said a rate of casualties similar to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine would lead to the army being “expended” within six to 12 months. He said it illustrated the need to “generate depth and mass rapidly in the event of a crisis”. In comments reported by Sky News, Mr Carns, a former Royal Marines colonel, said Russia was suffering losses of around 1,500 soldiers killed or injured a day. “In a war of scale – not a limited intervention, but one similar to Ukraine – our Army for example, on the current casualty rates, would be expended – as part of a broader multinational coalition – in six months to a year,” Mr Carns said in a speech at Rusi. He added: “That doesn’t mean we need a bigger Army, but it does mean you need to generate depth and mass rapidly in the event of a crisis.” Official figures show the Army had 109,245 personnel on October 1, including 25,814 volunteer reservists. Mr Carns, the minister for veterans and people, said the UK needed to “catch up with Nato allies” to place greater emphasis on the reserves. However, Chougule managed to race ahead of the contestant from Shiv Sena (UBT). In Amalner (Jalgaon district), independent candidate Shirish Hiralal Chaudhari finished second to NCP’s Anil Bhaidas Patil. He lost the poll by 33,435 votes. Similarly, in Beed’s Ashti constituency, BJP’s Dhas Suresh Ramchandra won by 77,975 votes, while independent candidate Bhimrao Anandrao Dhonde finished second. The Badnera constituency in Amaravati district saw independent candidate Priti Sanjay Band finish runner-up to Ravi Rana of the Rashtriya Yuva Swabhiman Party. Rana was backed by the BJP in Badnera. In Kalyan East, Mahesh Dashrath Gaikwad, an independent candidate, lost narrowly to BJP’s Sulbha Ganpat Gaikwad by 26,408 votes. Sulbha is the wife of BJP MLA Ganpat Gaikwad, who is in jail after firing at Mahesh Gaikwad inside a police station. In Kannad constituency (Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district), independent candidate Jadhav Harshwardhan Raibhan was defeated by his estranged wife Ranjanatai (Sanjana) Harshvardhan Jadhav of Shiv Sena by 18,201 votes. In Raigad’s Karjat constituency, independent candidate Sudhakar Parshuram Ghare finished second to Shiv Sena’s Thorve Mahendra Sadashiv by a margin of 5,694 votes. In Solapur district’s Karmala constituency, NCP’s Narayan (Aba) Govindrao Patil won by 16,085 votes against independent candidate Shinde Sanjaymama Vithalrao, while the in Kolhapur North Shiv Sena’s Rajesh Vinayak Kshirsagar defeated Congress-backed independent candidate Rajesh Bharat Latkar by 29,563 votes. In Solapur’s Madha constituency, independent candidate Ranjit Babanrao Shinde lost to NCP’s Abhijeet Dhananjay Patil by 30,621 votes. Malegaon Outer (Nashik) saw a massive 106,606 vote victory for Shiv Sena’s Dadaji Dagdu Bhuse over independent candidate Pramod Bandukaka Purushottam Bachhav. In Maval constituency (Pune district), NCP’s Sunil Shankarrao Shelke defeated independent candidate Anna Alias Bapu Jaywantrao Bhegade by a margin of 108,565 votes. In Nashik’s Nandgaon constituency, independent candidate Bhujbal Sameer, who rebelled against the NCP, lost by 89,874 votes to Shiv Sena’s Suhas Kande. In Nandurbar constituency, independent candidate Sharad Krishnarao Gavit lost to Congress’ Shirishkumar Surupsing Naik by 1,121 votes. Independent candidate Satyajit Vikramsingh Patankar was defeated by Shiv Sena’s Desai Shambhuraj Shivajirao by 34,824 votes in Satara’s Patan constituency. Similarly, in Nagpur’s Ramtek constituency, Congress-backed independent Rajendra Bhurao Mulak lost by 26,555 votes to Shiv Sena’s Ashish Nandkishore Jaiswal. In Washim district’s Risod constituency, independent candidate Anantrao Vitthalrao Deshmukh finished second to Congress’s Ameet Subhashrao Zanak, who won by 6,136 votes. In Dhule’s Shirpur constituency, independent candidate Dr. Jitendra Yuvraj Thakur was defeated by BJP’s Kashiram Vechan Pawara by a massive margin of 1,45,944 votes. This was the highest margin of victory recorded in these elections. In Shrigonda (Ahilyanagar constituency), independent candidate Rahul Jagtap lost to BJP’s Babanrao Pachpute by 37,156 votes. The poll in Warora (Chandrapur district) was also closely contested, with BJP’s Karan Sanjay Deotale emerging victorious over independent candidate Mukesh Manoj Jiwtode by 15,450 votes. Two independent candidates won in the Maharashtra assembly polls, results of which were declared on Saturday. The team will use Ferrari engines its first two years until GM has a Cadillac engine built for competition in time for the 2028 season. Towriss is the the CEO and president of Group 1001 and entered motorsports via Andretti's IndyCar team when he signed on financial savings platform Gainbridge as a sponsor. Towriss is now a major part of the motorsports scene with ownership stakes in both Spire Motorsports' NASCAR team and Wayne Taylor Racing's sports car team. Walter is the chief executive of financial services firm Guggenheim Partners and the controlling owner of both the World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers and Premier League club Chelsea. But his son, Michael, will have no official position with the organization now that he has scaled back his involvement with Andretti Global. "I'm very proud of the hard work they have put in and congratulate all involved on this momentous next step. I will be cheering for you!" The approval has been in works for weeks but was held until after last weekend's Las Vegas Grand Prix to not overshadow the showcase event of the Liberty Media portfolio. Max Verstappen won his fourth consecutive championship in Saturday night's race, the third and final stop in the United States for the top motorsports series in the world. Grid expansion in F1 is both infrequent and often unsuccessful. Four teams were granted entries in 2010 that should have pushed the grid to 13 teams and 26 cars for the first time since 1995. One team never made it to the grid and the other three had vanished by 2017. There is only one American team on the current F1 grid — owned by California businessman Gene Haas — but it is not particularly competitive and does not field American drivers. Andretti's dream was to field a truly American team with American drivers. The fight to add this team has been going on for three-plus years, and F1 initially denied the application despite approval from F1 sanctioning body FIA. The existing 10 teams, who have no voice in the matter, also largely opposed expansion because of the dilution in prize money and the billions of dollars they've already invested in the series. Andretti in 2020 tried and failed to buy the existing Sauber team. From there, he applied for grid expansion and partnered with GM, the top-selling manufacturer in the United States. The inclusion of GM was championed by the FIA and president Mohammed Ben Sulayem, who said Michael Andretti's application was the only one of seven applicants to meet all required criteria to expand F1's current grid. "General Motors is a huge global brand and powerhouse in the OEM world and is working with impressive partners," Ben Sulayem said Monday. "I am fully supportive of the efforts made by the FIA, Formula 1, GM and the team to maintain dialogue and work towards this outcome of an agreement in principle to progress this application." Despite the FIA's acceptance of Andretti and General Motors from the start, F1 wasn't interested in Andretti — but did want GM. At one point, F1 asked GM to find another team to partner with besides Andretti. GM refused and F1 said it would revisit the Andretti application if and when Cadillac had an engine ready to compete. "Formula 1 has maintained a dialogue with General Motors, and its partners at TWG Global, regarding the viability of an entry following the commercial assessment and decision made by Formula 1 in January 2024," F1 said in a statement. "Over the course of this year, they have achieved operational milestones and made clear their commitment to brand the 11th team GM/Cadillac, and that GM will enter as an engine supplier at a later time. Formula 1 is therefore pleased to move forward with this application process." Yet another major shift in the debate over grid expansion occurred earlier this month with the announced resignation of Liberty Media CEO Greg Maffei, who was largely believed to be one of the biggest opponents of the Andretti entry. "With Formula 1's continued growth plans in the US, we have always believed that welcoming an impressive US brand like GM/Cadillac to the grid and GM as a future power unit supplier could bring additional value and interest to the sport," Maffei said. "We credit the leadership of General Motors and their partners with significant progress in their readiness to enter Formula 1."
