NoneAfter a very successful home stand, the Aggies head out for three straight games outside the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. The Utah State men’s basketball team begins a stretch of three neutral-site games on Friday in Kansas City, Missouri. The Aggies, who received votes this week in the AP Top 25 Poll, will face Iowa in the T-Mobile Center, which seats 18,000. The game is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. and will be televised on the Big Ten Network. “It’s going to be a good test, a game outside of the Spectrum,” USU head coach Jerrod Calhoun said. “We are playing a very good, quality opponent, certainly a Quad 1 right now on a neutral site. It’s a great opportunity. We look forward to the opportunity. It’s a resume game.” While it is a neutral site, the Hawkeyes (5-0) will have a noticeable cheering section as they tend to travel well. In 2021, USU and Iowa played a neutral site game in South Dakota, which saw a lot of fans in yellow and black. “Wherever you are, you need to play good basketball to win,” Calhoun said. “We can play better on both sides. Montana gave us a good test.” The Aggies (4-0) are excited to get out an test themselves against a traditionally good opponent and away from home. USU’s Ian Martinez joked about how he seemed to thrive in road games a year ago. The graduate guard has been doing just fine at home to start the 2024-25 campaign. Martinez not only leads the Aggies in scoring at 22.8 points a game, but ranks among the best in the nation in efficient play. Following Monday’s 95-83 win over Montana, Martinez ranked 12th in the country in best statistical output per possession. He is shooting 53.5 percent from the field, including 56 percent from 3-point range and has made 93.9 percent of his free throw attempts. Martinez is also averaging 3.5 rebounds, 3.8 assists and one steal a game, while playing 26 minutes a game. “We look for all of our guys to be efficient,” Calhoun said. “The way that you do that is take good shots. Ian has really taken good shots. His teammates have done a phenomenal job of getting him some easy ones. ... Ian is going to score the ball, whether he averages 23 or 30 or 20 or 18, this kid can score the ball. I need to get the ball in good spots for him and run good things for him. He is a top-level scorer.” Four other Aggies are averaging double figures in the scoring department. Mason Falslev is netting 12.8 points an outing, followed by Aubin Gateretse (12.0), Dexter Akanno (11.8) and Karson Templin (11.5). Isaac Johnson (8.7), Drake Allen (7.8) and Tucker Anderson (7.8) are close to double digits. “We feel really good about where we are at health wise, conditioning wise,” Calhoun said. “We are going to use everybody against Iowa.” Gateretse missed Monday’s game as he was in concussion protocol. He has practiced this week and should be good to go Friday. USU will need the 6-foot-11 center and the 7-foot Johnson, who has also missed a game this young season, as Iowa has some size. “We saw a lot of size against Oregon (in a closed scrimmage before the season), so this won’t be the first time we’ve seen that size,” Calhoun said. “We are one of the better teams around the rim, so we need to go up there strong and finish. We’ve got to finish through contact. We need to be fearless in attacking the rim.” In their last outing, a 83-58 win over Rider on Tuesday, the Hawkeyes started four forwards and a guard. The forwards ranged from 6-7 to 6-10. Iowa also has size on the bench. “Iowa is a unique team, probably more unique than any team we play with their shot distribution being about 48 percent of their total shots being threes,” Calhoun said. “It gives you a different dynamic defensively. You have to honor almost every guy that steps on the floor. Every team presents different problems.” With the Aggies playing unique defense of their own, which is mostly a zone, will that invite Iowa to shoot more 3-point shots? “I don’t care if you are playing man or zone, Iowa scores the ball,” Calhoun said. “They are one of the better offensive teams in the country so far. We just have to have an unbelievable understanding of the game plan. ... We have to have urgency, have active hands and win pass battles. We need to disrupt their rhythm because this is a very, very good rhythm team.” Forward Payton Sandfort leads the Hawkeyes with 17.8 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists an outing. Fellow forward Owen Freeman is a load at 6-10 and is averaging 17.5 points and 8.3 rebounds, while shooting nearly 60 percent from the field. Forward Pryce Sandfort, the younger brother of Payton, is the other Hawkeye to average double figures in points at 11.6, who played in the last game. “He (Freeman) was the Big Ten Freshman of the Year last year,” Calhoun said. “He is really good on that low block. He is not just a scorer, but a really good passer. To me, playing against really good player, you need to counter it and go right at those guys. We have to have a presence in there and make him work, whether that’s inside or out. A lot of respect to him. He plays hard and attacks the glass. He is a load in there. “... Those brothers (Sandfort) are good and really shoot the ball. Payton can drive and post you. We need to know where those kids are at all times. They can make threes.” Guard Josh Dix missed Tuesday’s contest with a wrist injury and is averaging 12.3 points and 4.0 assists a game. “We are assuming he is playing,” Calhoun said. “He can do a little bit of anything. I think he is one of their top players. We will see what happens.” Point guard Brock Harding isn’t scoring a lot (5.8 ppg), but does dish out 5.4 assists and comes up with two steals a game. “He (Harding) is one of their leaders, plays with a lot of emotion,” Calhoun said. “He was Freeman’s high school teammate. He does a great job of getting in the paint and kicking out. He does a great job defensively and a great job running their team.” Iowa has been getting production off the bench in forward Seydou Traore and guard Drew Thelwell, who average 9.7 and 8.4 ppg, respectively. Thelwell, a transfer from Morehead State, is also averaging 4.0 assists a game. “Thelwell is a very good player,” Calhoun said.

A popular video game developer has decided to pull content featuring Irish MMA fighter Conor McGregor from sale, after a woman who said he raped her won a civil claim for damages against him. Nikita Hand, who accused the sportsman of raping her in a Dublin hotel in December 2018, won her claim against him for damages in a civil case at the High Court in the Irish capital. The jury delivered its verdict on Friday. The total amount of damages awarded to Hand by the jury was 248,603.60 euros (£206,714.31). Mr McGregor made no comment as he left court but later posted on social media that he intends to appeal. The Irish athlete has featured in multiple video games, including voice-acting a character bearing his likeness in additional downloadable content in the Hitman series. Mr McGregor’s character featured as a target for the player-controlled assassin in the game. IO Interactive, the Danish developer and publisher of Hitman, said in a statement: “In light of the recent court ruling regarding Conor McGregor, IO Interactive has made the decision to cease its collaboration with the athlete, effective immediately. “We take this matter very seriously and cannot ignore its implications. “Consequently, we will begin removing all content featuring Mr McGregor from our storefronts starting today.” Mr McGregor had faced an accusation that he “brutally raped and battered” Ms Hand at a hotel in south Dublin in December 2018. The Irish sports star previously told the court he had consensual sex with Ms Hand in a penthouse at the Beacon Hotel. Ms Hand was taken in an ambulance to the Rotunda Hospital the following day where she was assessed in the sexual assault treatment unit. A paramedic who examined Ms Hand the day after the assault had told the court she had not seen “someone so bruised” in a long time.Black plastic kitchen utensil risks were overstated. President-elect Donald Trump is expected to offer Kelly Loeffler the job of secretary of the Department of Agriculture, two people familiar with the matter told CNN. He is set to meet with her at Mar-a-Lago on Friday afternoon, but as is always the case, nothing is final until Trump announces it. Related video above: Trump nominates Pam Bondi for Attorney General Loeffler, who briefly represented Georgia in the Senate, had fundraised for Trump during the 2024 race and raised several million dollars for his campaign over the summer when she hosted a debate watch party with Republican National Committee Chair Michael Whatley. Several of Trump’s other Cabinet picks — including Sen. Marco Rubio and Rep. Elise Stefanik — were at that party. Loeffler is also co-chairing Trump’s inauguration, as CNN previously reported. The agriculture job will likely be significant — especially as Trump’s pick to run the Department of Health and Human Services, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., has promised to assert his influence over the agriculture industry. Loeffler, appointed to the Senate by Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp over the wishes of Trump, lost her seat in a 2021 runoff to Democratic now-Sen. Raphael Warnock. Loeffler was a staunch Trump ally in Congress, saying prior to the violence on Jan. 6, 2021, that she planned to vote against certifying her state’s electoral results in support of Trump’s broader effort to upend Joe Biden’s 2020 election victory. After the U.S. Capitol attack, Loeffler backed off her objection, saying on the Senate floor: “When I arrived in Washington this morning, I fully intended to object to the certification of the electoral votes. However, the events that have transpired today have forced me to reconsider, and I cannot now in good conscience object to the certification of these electors.” In the same speech, Loeffler condemned the violence at the Capitol, calling it “abhorrent.” Loeffler was among the witnesses who appeared before the grand jury as part of Trump’s 2020 election subversion criminal case in Georgia. Before joining the Senate, Loeffler served as an executive at a financial services firm in Atlanta. She was also a co-owner of the WNBA’s Atlanta Dream. She was among the wealthiest lawmakers during her short time in Congress. Her husband, Jeffrey Sprecher, is the CEO of the Intercontinental Exchange. When running for election in 2020, she announced she and her husband were divesting from individual stocks amid sharp criticism over trades she and other lawmakers made ahead of the market downturn caused by the coronavirus. Kemp had appointed Loeffler to fill the seat of Johnny Isakson, who had left the Senate before the end of his term because of health concerns. Trump, however, had pressed the governor to appoint then-Rep. Doug Collins, who then challenged Loeffler for the remainder of Isakson’s term. The two Republicans sought to one-up the other and showcase their loyalty to Trump, moving further and further to the right in a state where Atlanta’s more moderate suburban voters were key. Collins fell short in the November 2020 election, while Loeffler and Warnock advanced to the January 2021 runoff. This year, Trump has selected Collins to lead the Department of Veterans Affairs. The best players of Deadlock have jumped the turnstile and started organizing their own competitive scene, and I think you should join me in my jealousy of their improvised format. It’s been just over a month since Valve added a ranked mode—and just a few days since ranked became the only mode in Deadlock. The change has encouraged somewhat more serious Deadlock play, and it's great to have a way to track progress and flex competitive muscles. However, there are frustrating hurdles to taking Deadlock more seriously if you, like most players, aren't queuing up with a full stack of friends every night: Deadlock could really use a pre-game phase, and the pros agree. Quick background: Most MOBAs, including Valve's own Dota 2, have a phase before the actual match where players take turns picking and banning heroes. This three minute window is typically used to figure out your team's game plan—assigning lanes, picking complementary heroes, etc. Deadlock, in a likely intentional decision to excise some complexity and downtime from the genre, has no real pre-game phase. There's no pick and ban (you just pick a few preferred heroes before matchmaking) and, as far as planning goes, you only get a few seconds on a rooftop before you’re speeding off to randomly assigned lanes. Valve's calculated trimmings reduce the time between menus and playtime, but they don't gel with Deadlock's burgeoning competitive scene. With Deadlock in residence at the corner of MOBA street and hero shooter avenue, planning and tactics aren’t just a moment-to-moment concern, but a key part of building your team strategy before the game starts. Instead of waiting for Valve to implement these core competitive systems in Deadlock, a grassroots movement of skilled players has taken it upon themselves to create their own competitive format. The most popular so far is Deadlock Fight Night : a weekly invite-only king-of-the-hill style tournament where the current reigning champions return to defend their title each week. With excellent casters and slick graphics, it’s a glimpse at a possible future of organized Deadlock as an esport, but more importantly: Deadlock Fight Night coordinates a pick and ban phase before every game. Organized by the tournament, the phase follows MOBA tradition, giving each team a single hero ban and then letting them trade off on picks—all done manually. A pick/ban phase feels like a missing component for Deadlock, and it’s no surprise that the budding pro scene has homed in on it. Each pre-game in Deadlock Fight Night is its own strategic tug-of-war, something I sorely miss each time I queue myself. Getting the opportunity to see that my opponents are bringing a Bebop so that I can suggest we pick a Viscous is both invaluable and a huge part of the strategic acumen that sucks me into MOBAs. Likewise, the opportunity to build my lane and team composition to function well together is totally lacking in Deadlock, as I’m just tossed into a team and lane automatically. If I’m not with friends to dial in the team compositions we want or get the best duo lane before going to queue, there’s no chance to coordinate at all, and I’m stuck out on the curb in the Cursed Apple futilely trying to assemble a competitive matchup out of pure randomness. The biggest gaming news, reviews and hardware deals Keep up to date with the most important stories and the best deals, as picked by the PC Gamer team. The most frustrating games I’ve played have been ones where I felt like I was sabotaged from the start. It's just too common that myself and my five teammates all enter the match with our own notions of strategy that don't align even a little. Random team comps assembled by Valve regularly have glaring issues like a lack of late-game damage, few crowd control abilities, or no clear way to initiate fights. You can play or build around these issues of course (some chosen team compositions accept them knowingly), but having to adapt should be a last resort, or something I opt into. If I’ve made a mistake in picking my team composition, or if I’ve knowingly accepted a weakness and then have to adapt, I had agency in the choices that led to my situation. Deadlock's queue in its current state feels like driving an automatic when I’m used to a manual. All three of the biggest facets of a pick/ban phase feel like missing components for Deadlock, and it’s no surprise that the budding pro scene has homed in on them. Seeing the battle of wills between top players, watching them adapt to an unexpected enemy pick or form their strategy around a key ban is the tense balancing act I crave. While I expect to have a lot less coordination and a lot more chaos when I queue with less than a full team, I still want more strategic freedom, and it’s just not there. While we're still working with a very early version of Deadlock, and Valve likely has more updates to come to matchmaking, I am still left pining for the illusory ‘ghost of Christmas future’ version of the game I’ve seen.Becton Dickinson EVP David Shan sells $330,375 in stock

Determined to bring that same sense of wonder to her own children, she began creating her own miniature holiday town. She hand-painted many of the town’s figures to represent a multicultural world, ensuring her Christmas Town reflects the community she wishes to see, the release stated. The founder of Julian’s, Julian Siegel, was born in Poland in 1898 and emigrated to the United States as a teenager, later moving to Fort Collins in the 1920s. His first shop, at 114 S. College Ave., introduced Fort Collins to modern amenities, including the town’s first fluorescent lights, the release said. He eventually expanded to 137 S. College Ave., where the shop still stands today. As a community leader, Siegel founded and led local initiatives, from creating a new Boy Scout troop with teacher Jean Irish to chairing what is now United Way. A champion for inclusivity, he also persuaded Fort Collins restaurant owners to remove “White Trade Only” signs during WWII, making a significant stand for equality in the town. • Dream Finders Homes will begin sales in December at Farmstead in Berthoud. If they've got them, they're in. So where does character fit in? Nowhere in the writer's analysis. But we all know that character matters more than job qualifications. That kind of common sense is hard-wired in all of us. History is full of "qualified" actors -- you name it, politics, sports, entertainment, education -- whose lack of character sorely and often gravely disappointed their supporters. For my money I'd take someone with little job experience and a whole lot of character over someone with great job experience and unquestionably questionable character. In their book "Becoming A Person of Influence" John Maxwell and Jim Dornan spell it out: "Credentials are transient. Character is permanent. Credentials turn the focus to rights. Character keeps the focus on responsibilities. Credentials add value to only one person. Character adds value to many." Rick Rappaport Oro Valley Disclaimer: As submitted to the Arizona Daily Star.
