No. 22 Xavier unbeaten but looking for more effort vs. South CarolinaKTHS Mathematics Team 2024/2025. The Kingstree High School Math team participated in the 2024 George E. Schnibben, Jr. Mathematics Tournament, held at Francis Marion University on December 3, 2024. The students performed exceptionally well, earning 3rd place in Division II. This tournament, sponsored and organized by the FMU Department of Mathematics, has evolved from a small event into a competition that high school students train for well in advance. For the past 37 years, the collaboration between Francis Marion University and the top math students from the Pee Dee region has resulted in the Pee Dee Regional High School Mathematics Tournament. Sponsored by Francis Marion University, Mu Alpha Theta, and the Pee Dee Education Center, this tournament consists of two parts: a written competition and a stage competition. This year, twenty-one schools and approximately 360 students from across the Pee Dee region will be competing in the tournament. For George E. Schnibben and the rest of the mathematics department, these numbers are significant, as they not only reflect the growing popularity of the tournament but also emphasize the importance of mathematics as a vital skill for many career paths. The following schools participated in this year's tournament: Carvers Bay High School, Central High School of Pageland, Creek Bridge High School, Green Sea Floyd High School, Hannah-Pamplico High School, Johnsonville High School, Lee Central High School, Marion High School, Mullins High School, Academy for the Arts, Science, and Technology, Carolina Forest High School, Early College High School, Georgetown High School, Hartsville High School, Mayo High School for Math, Science and Technology, Scholars Academy, South Florence High School, West Florence High School, Wilson High School, The King’s Academy, and Trinity-Byrnes Collegiate School.
