LEDUC, Alta. - Alberta’s police watchdog says an RCMP officer is facing sexual assault charges stemming from a hotel room party two years ago. The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team says its investigation into the Leduc-based Mountie revealed evidence that gives reason to believe sexual assault offences happened and that the officer should be charged. It says they allegedly took place in an Airdrie hotel room while a group of people socialized in the early morning hours of Dec. 3, 2022. Const. Bridget Morla is charged with two counts of sexual assault. She has been released on the condition that she appear in court next week. The police watchdog says no further information would be released as the matter is before the courts. No one has reported illnesses from the lot of raw milk produced by Fresno-based dairy Raw Farm, the California Department of Public Health said. The dairy issued a voluntary recall of the lot — which was produced on Nov. 9 and has an expiration date of Nov. 27 — after Santa Clara health officials detected bird flu virus in a sample of raw milk purchased from a retail store. Officials with the California Animal Health and Food Safety Laboratory System then tested and verified the results. Retailers that sold the impacted quart and half gallon sized fluid raw milk in L.A. County include: Officials may confirm more retailers as the investigation continues. The County of Santa Clara Public Health Laboratory has been testing raw milk from retail stores as a “second line of consumer protection,” the state health department said. Mark McAfee, the owner of Raw Farm, said every lot that has been tested by the company and the California Department of Food and Agriculture showed negative results for bird flu virus. Raw Farm alerted retailers to remove products from the impacted lot from their shelves and said consumers can return the product at stores for a replacement or refund. The state Department of Public Health said it is warning consumers from drinking any potentially contaminated raw milk from the affected lot because of the ongoing spread of bird flu in dairy cows and poultry as well as some cases that have infected people . “This is a very contentious time,” for raw milk, McAfee said. “I just know that there’s a grandly elevated political environment with RFK Jr. now wanting more raw milk for people in America,” he said. Trump, who doesn't take office until January 20, made his threat in social media posts Monday night, announcing huge import tariffs against neighbors Canada and Mexico and also rival China if they do not stop illegal immigration and drug smuggling. Both the Dow and S&P 500 notched all-time highs, with investors regarding the incoming president's words as a bargaining chip. "In theory, higher tariffs should not be good news for stocks. But, you know, I think the market's chosen to think of (it) as a negotiating tactic," said Steve Sosnick of Interactive Brokers. "You have bullish sentiment," said LBBW's Karl Haeling. "People are tending to look at things as positively as possible." But General Motors, which imports autos from Mexico to the United States, slumped 9.0 percent, while rival Ford dropped 2.6 percent. By Ismail Shakil and Tim Reid OTTAWA (Reuters) - U.S. President-elect Donald Trump said on Saturday he had a "very productive" meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in which they discussed border-related issues and other topics including trade, energy, and the Arctic. Trudeau flew to Florida on Friday evening and had dinner with Trump at his Mar-a-Lago residence, days after Republican Trump had pledged to impose tariffs on Canadian and Mexican imports after he is sworn in as president in January. That pledge has raised fears of a trade war between the U.S. and two of its biggest trading partners. Mexico President Claudia Sheinbaum warned this week Trump's tariff plan would have dire consequences for both countries and suggested possible retaliation following his threat of across-the-board 25% tariffs on Mexican and Canadian imports. Trump wants to use tariffs as a tool to get Mexico and Canada to help stem the flow of illegal drugs into the U.S., particularly the deadly opioid fentanyl, and also migrants crossing illegally into the U.S. "We discussed many important topics that will require both Countries to work together to address, like the Fentanyl and Drug Crisis that has decimated so many lives as a result of Illegal Immigration, Fair Trade Deals that do not jeopardize American Workers, and the massive Trade Deficit the U.S. has with Canada," Trump said in a post on Truth Social. "Trudeau has made a commitment to work with us to end this terrible devastation of U.S. Families," he added. Trudeau's office did not immediately respond to a request for comment about his meeting with Trump. In a separate post, Trump called on the so-called BRICS countries to commit to not creating a new currency or supporting another currency over the U.S. dollar. If those countries do so they will face "100% tariffs", Trump said. BRICS refers to original members of the intergovernmental group of economies: Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. It also includes Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia, and the United Arab Emirates. "We require a commitment from these Countries that they will neither create a new BRICS Currency, nor back any other Currency to replace the mighty U.S. Dollar or, they will face 100% Tariffs, and should expect to say goodbye to selling into the wonderful U.S. Economy," Trump wrote. One of the best came from OG Anunoby, who went 7 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 27 points plus three steals and two blocks. Those seven threes gave him a new career-high. Denver's victory bumped their record up to 9-6. As for New York, their loss dropped their record down to 9-7. Monday's matchup is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: The Nuggets have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 39.6% of their threes per game. However, it's not like the Knicks struggle in that department as they've drained 39% of their threes this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out. The Nuggets were able to grind out a solid win over the Knicks when the teams last played back in March, winning 113-100.
