-- Shares Facebook Twitter Reddit Email Following the announcement on Monday afternoon that the judge overseeing Donald Trump 's election interference case has ruled in favor of dismissal, shortly after special counsel Jack Smith filed a motion to drop the case, along with his classified documents case, Trump took to Truth Social to celebrate. Referring to both cases as "a political hijacking," Trump wrote, "These cases, like all of the other cases I have been forced to go through, are empty and lawless, and should never have been brought. Over $100 million dollars of taxpayer dollars has been wasted in the Democrat Party’s fight against their political opponent, ME. Nothing like this has ever happened in our country before. They have also used state prosecutors and district attorneys, such as Fani Willis and her lover, Nathan Wade (who had absolutely zero experience in cases such as this, but was paid MILLIONS, enough for them to take numerous trips and cruises around the globe!), Letitia James, who inappropriately, unethically, and probably illegally, campaigned on “GETTING TRUMP” in order to win political office, and Alvin Bragg, who himself never wanted to bring this case against me, but was forced to do so by the Justice Department and the Democrat Party." Related Jack Smith drops election subversion and classified documents cases against Trump According to ABC News , Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung, in a statement, called Smith's motions a "major victory for the rule of law" and said, "The American People and President Trump want an immediate end to the political weaponization of our justice system and we look forward to uniting our country." "I persevered, against all odds, and WON. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!" Trump wrote in an additional post to Truth Social. MORE FROM Kelly McClure Advertisement:Following the Cavs’ 126-114 win over the Denver Nuggets, Cleveland moved to an NBA-best 20-3 on the season, recording another dominant win for the Cavs against a playoff contender. The storyline of the night was the three-point line. Cleveland outscored Denver 66-18 from behind the arc while shooting 45.8% on the night. Donovan Mitchell and Caris LeVert paced the Cavs with 11 made threes combined, but it was Evan Mobley ‘s stellar shooting night that is a recipe for success in Cleveland. Cavs Star Evan Mobley Finding Rhythm From Three Career Progression Towards the back end of last season, Mobley had begun to make the three a part of his game. He shot 37.3% on three-pointers on 1.2 attempts per game, way above his previous career-high of 25%. With the addition of new head coach Kenny Atkinson and his fast-paced offense, it was only natural that Mobley would shoot the ball more. So far this season, the Cavs 7-footer is shooting 34.8% from three on an increased 2.1 attempts per game. Mobley is coming off a career-high night from behind the arc, where he shot 3/5, tying his record for makes and setting a new record for attempts. After the game, Atkinson spoke on the importance of Mobley’s shooting, particularly his attempts, more than his makes. “I told him in the locker room, I like the bad one you took,” Atkinson said in a press conference postgame. “I’m joking but he needs to get over that hump, he’s starting to get over that hump where we need his gravity. I think when the playoffs come against these... elite, elite rim protectors and they just stay back in the paint, you got to keep them honest. I’m just really happy that he was more aggressive with the three.” As Mobley progresses with his three-point shot he will become part of the opposition scouting report. It is not extremely important for Mobley to become an elite shooter, but rather have the threat of shooting. Of the Cavs 10 main rotation players, Mobley is ninth in three-point attempts per game ahead of only Jarrett Allen, who takes none. Mobley will likely never become a high-volume three-point guy, but he’s showcased the ability to get hot and force closeouts. The more he does that, the more he will be able to create off the dribble either getting into the paint or creating as a playmaker. Season Progression As the season goes on expect Mobley to take more threes. He’s taken at least two a game in his last nine games, closing in on his career-best mark of 10 in a row in early 2024. While shooting at a higher rate and being more involved in the Cavs offense, with a career-high usage rate of 22.8%, Mobley is still an elite defender. Mobley leads the Cavs in blocks per game and is third on the team in steals. Shooting more threes and higher offensive production was gradually the next step in his career as someone who has always been a top-tier defender. With the way he is playing 23 games into this season, the future is bright for the 23-year-old . This article first appeared on Last Word On Sports and was syndicated with permission.

President-elect Donald Trump has thrown his support behind union dockworkers opposing automation at U.S. ports on the East and Gulf Coasts. These labor discussions, involving the International Longshoremen's Association (ILA) and the United States Maritime Alliance (USMX), have stalled with a fast-approaching January 15 deadline. The ILA argues that automation leads to job cuts, while employers emphasize its necessity for maintaining global competitiveness. Trump's comments came after a meeting with Harold Daggett, head of the ILA, where he criticized automation for its negative impact on American workers. Recently, dockworkers ended a three-day strike after securing a substantial wage increase with help from President Biden's administration. Trump stressed that instead of investing in machines, foreign companies should focus on the welfare of dockworkers, aligning with the goals of all parties to conserve American jobs. Comcast, the parent company of NBC and its affiliated properties, recently announced plans to spin off its cable television networks, including CNBC and MSNBC, into a new company. Following this news, Elon Musk, owner of X, shared a meme online fueling speculation he might purchase MSNBC if it becomes available. A video of Rachel Maddow, one of MSNBC’s leading personalities, went viral on social media , appearing to show her reaction to Musk’s memes about buying MSNBC. The clip appears to show Maddow on air during a breaking news segment with a banner on screen reading: “BREAKING NEWS ELON MUSK POSTS DANGEROUS MEME.” Maddow becomes visibly upset, then requests a graphic to be displayed and the screen cuts to an explicit meme about Musk's buying MSNBC. The video has been viewed hundreds of thousands of times. Google Trends data shows a spike in searches for terms including “Elon Musk meme,” “Rachel Maddow crying,” and “Rachel Maddow Elon Musk.” People in the comments on the video expressed surprise that Maddow would act like that on air. THE QUESTION Is the video of an emotional Rachel Maddow during a news segment about speculation that Elon Musk could MSNBC real? THE SOURCES Video of Maddow’s show on June 19, 2018 MSNBC network spokesperson VERIFY analysis of the video Rachel Maddow social media post from June 19, 2018 Review of recent episodes from “The Rachel Maddow Show” InVid and RevEye , video and photo forensics tools THE ANSWER No, the video is not real. It was created using a real video of Maddow from 2018 and was edited to include fake onscreen graphics and a meme about Musk. WHAT WE FOUND The viral video appearing to show Maddow upset on air in response to social media posts depicting the potential sale of MSNBC to Elon Musk is fake. It was created using a real clip from “The Rachel Maddow Show’s” June 19, 2018 episode that was then edited to include graphics and images to make it appear like she is reacting to a story about Musk. An MSNBC network spokesperson told VERIFY the video “has been manipulated and is fake.” Using InVid, a video forensics tool, VERIFY analyzed the video and conducted a reverse image search, which led us to clips of Maddow’s original 2018 news segment about immigration policy. When comparing the edited video with the original clip from 2018, it was clear Maddow was making the same gestures, wearing the same outfit and the background is identical. A thumbnail promoting MSNBC’s live coverage from the southern border also appears in the bottom corner of both versions. In the original segment, Maddow got emotional while reading an Associated Press report about children separated at the southern border and placed in “tender age” shelters. After her show aired, Maddow apologized on social media for becoming emotional during the broadcast. There have been no verified reports that Musk is considering purchasing MSNBC or that the network would be sold as part of Comcast’s restructuring. Other posts from Musk included retweets of articles from satirical websites. None of Maddow’s recent broadcasts contain this fake news segment.
