After two major reports involving the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement, and Safe Streets, FOX45 News continues to peel back the layers of the community violence intervention program that has been the center of an investigation for years. The Office of Inspector General’s report found to vacant Safe Streets positions when contracts were submitted to the city’s spending board for approval. Some of those names include Lemur Jackson II, Merlin Humphrey II, and Allen Iverson. While no money was given to fake people, Inspector General Isabel Mercedes Cumming said submitting false government documents is concerning, and potentially a crime. FOX45 News also obtained a copy of the first audit done for MONSE showing double payments to the nonprofits operating the 10 different Safe Streets locations, and showing the city did not have the property oversight to ensure the daily logs match the validity of the work performed by violence interrupters. Baltimore City State’s Attorney Ivan Bates said there is a state law prohibiting false information in government records. However, it’s unclear if that means his office will continue to investigate and prosecute anyone from MONSE who knew what was going on with the fake names on the contracts submitted to the Board of Estimates. “You’re not allowed to use fake information in public documents and that’s something that’s extremely concerning,” Bates told FOX45 News. “So, the simple fact that that has happened, let’s just say, I can’t really go more in depth about that for a number of reasons. But my office always looks to hold those accountable who break the law.” Bates’ office told FOX45 News it has no comment on pending or ongoing investigations at this time. “I’m not concerned but I will say that the members of the team that needed to be disciplined have been,” MONSE Director Stefanie Mavronis said when asked by FOX45 News if she’s concerned anyone in her agency broke the law. “And accountability whenever we receive a management alert is something we take extremely seriously.” One MONSE employee was fired as a result of the findings from the OIG report, however, City Hall has been tightlipped about who that employee is. According to the timeline for the investigation, it’s likely whoever was fired, was terminated in September. Meanwhile, Baltimore area trial attorney Jeremy Eldridge said it’s very possible someone – or many people – could face charges based on the findings of the OIG report and the false information used to submit contracts to the city’s spending board. “That data can be considered a false entry in public record and that in and of itself could constitute a misdemeanor punishable by three years in jail,” Eldridge said. Currently, Catholic Charities and LifeBridge Health oversee the day-to-day operations of the 10 different Safe Streets locations around the city. The two non-profits are part of the hiring process, but the names of the workers have yet to be revealed. FOX45 News has repeatedly questioned Mayor Brandon Scott about releasing the names, but he has either said the names of the workers are private for safety reasons, or the city can’t reveal the names due to the fact that the employees aren’t city workers. “The employees that do the Safe Streets work, they are not employees of the city,” Mayor Scott said. “I can’t tell you guys enough that I cannot legally give out someone else’s employees information.”

Prime minister Narendra Modi on Sunday gave a clarion call for unity and brotherhood in the country in his final Mann ki Baat episode of the year, and urged people to “annihilate the feeling of division and hatred in the society” while he hailed the upcoming Kumbh Mela as a unique scene of unity in diversity. Modi also announced that a special website named constitution75.com has been created to connect the citizens of the country with the legacy of the Constitution. As the Prime Minister informed his audience of the preparations for the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj from January 13, he hailed the spiritual festival as a manifestation of India’s diversity where there is no discrimination against anyone and everyone is treated equally. “The speciality of the Maha Kumbh is not only in its vastness. The speciality of the Kumbh is also in its diversity. Crores of people congregate for this event. Lakhs of saints, thousands of traditions, hundreds of sects, many akharas, everyone becomes a part of this event. There is no discrimination anywhere, no one is big, no one is small. Such a scene of unity in diversity will not be seen anywhere else in the world. Therefore, our Kumbh is also the Maha Kumbh of unity. This time’s Maha Kumbh will also bolster the mantra of Maha Kumbh of unity.” “Let me tell all of you; when we participate in the Kumbh, let us bring along this resolve of unity with us. Let us also make a resolve to annihilate the feeling of division and hatred in society. If I have to say it in a few words, then I will say Mahakumbh Ka Sandesh, Ek Ho Poora Desh... The message of the Mahakumbh, let the whole country be united... and putting it in another way, I will express Ganga Ki Aviral Dhara, Na Bate Samaj Hamara... Like the uninterrupted flow of the Ganga, let our society be undivided. Friends, this time in Prayagraj, devotees from the country and the world will also be witness to the digital Maha Kumbh,” the PM added. This is the second time in as many months that the PM has spoken about unity and peace in society. On November 11, speaking virtually at the 200th-anniversary celebrations of the Shri Swaminarayan Temple in Vadtal, Gujarat, Modi urged for collective action to safeguard national integrity. “Unity among citizens and integrity of the nation is important to make India a developed nation by 2047. Some forces are working to divide our society on the basis of caste, faith, language, social status, gender, and the rural-urban divide. We must recognise the gravity of these attempts by those who seek to harm our nation, understand the threat they pose, and work collectively to defeat such divisive acts,” Modi said. The PM also informed that for the first time an AI chatbot will be used at the mega carnival of humanity. “With the help of digital navigation, you will be able to reach different ghats, temples, and akharas of sadhus. The same navigation system will also help you reach parking spaces. For the first time, an AI chatbot will be used in the Kumbh event. All kinds of information related to the Kumbh will be available in 11 Indian languages through the AI chatbot. Anyone can ask for any kind of help through this chatbot, either by typing text or by speaking in. The entire fair area is being covered with AI-powered cameras,” the PM said. If a person gets separated from one’s kith and kin during the Kumbh, these cameras will help find them and devotees will also get the facility of a digital lost and found centre, the PM added. He spoke of how devotees will also be provided information about government-approved tour packages, accommodation and homestays on their mobile phones and a facility to click selfies with #EktaKaMahakumbh. As the government is making mega plans to celebrate 75 years of the installation of the Constitution — which has also been at the centre of major political battles in the recent past between the Congress and the BJP — the Prime Minister in his Mann ki Baat announced that a special website has been created to bring the common people closer to the spirit of the document. “On January 26, 2025, our Constitution is completing 75 years. It is a matter of great honour for all of us. The Constitution, handed over to us by our Constitution makers, has stood the test of time in every sense of the term. The Constitution is our guiding light, our guide. It is on account of the Constitution of India that I am here today, being able to talk to you. This year, on Constitution Day, the 26th of November, many activities have commenced that will go on for a year. A special website named constitution75.com has also been created to connect the citizens of the country with the legacy of the Constitution,” the PM said. “In this”, Modi added, “you can read the Preamble of the Constitution and upload your video. You can read the Constitution in myriad languages; you can also ask questions pertaining to the Constitution. I urge the listeners of Mann Ki Baat, school-going children, college-going youth, to visit this website and become a part of it.” Modi also touted the ministry of information and broadcasting’s upcoming WAVES Summit in New Delhi that the ministry wants to turn into India’s flagship entertainment conference, akin to what the Cannes Film Festival is to France. “A great opportunity is on the way to showcase India’s creative talent to the world. Next year, for the first time, the World Audio Visual Entertainment Summit, that is, WAVES Summit is going to be organised in our country. All of you must have heard about Davos, where the world’s economic giants gather. Similarly, in the WAVES Summit, giants from the media and entertainment industry and people from the creative world will come to India. This summit is an important step towards making India a hub of global content creation. I feel proud informing you that the young creators of our country are also joining with full enthusiasm in the preparations for this summit. When we are moving towards a $5 trillion economy, our creator economy is bringing in a new energy. “I would urge the entire entertainment and creative industry of India -- whether you are a young creator or an established artist, associated with Bollywood or regional cinema, a professional from the TV industry, an expert in animation, gaming or an innovator in entertainment technology -- to be a part of the WAVES Summit,” he said. The WAVES Summit was earlier scheduled to be held in Goa alongside IFFI in November but was rescheduled to four months later. Modi also told the country about the first Bastar Olympics that concluded earlier this month and saw the participation of 165,000 players from seven districts. “You will also be happy to know that this is taking place in the region which was once a witness to Maoist violence,” he said. The events included athletics, archery, badminton, football, hockey, weightlifting, karate, kabaddi, kho-kho, and volleyball. “Bastar Olympics is not just a sports event. It is a platform where development and sports are merging together, where our youth are honing their talent and building a new India,” he said.Mexico shares higher at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC up 0.00%

The Los Angeles Lakers have started the new 2024-25 NBA season off with an encouraging record of 10-5. They have looked much more competitive than many would have expected, considering that the team's front office brought back almost the same roster as last season. More news: 76ers Star Joel Embiid to Miss Multiple Games Due to Troubling New Injury Los Angeles was bounced out of the playoffs in the first round last year, but the Lakers believed things would be different this time around — even with much of the same roster. The team added a new head coach in JJ Redick to help fix the problems. So far, Redick has made the Lakers look good, but the roster likely needs more talent if they want to contend for another title. One of the biggest weaknesses for Los Angeles is in the frontcourt. The Lakers have been looking around the league for frontcourt help and they reportedly have an eye on landing a center before the trade deadline. According to NBA insider Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report , Los Angeles has a few names in mind. "[Washington Wizards center] Jonas Valančiūnas is definitely a name that you continue to hear bandied about as a Lakers trade target... Jonas Valančiūnas is definitely available for trade in Washington, we've said that here before, we're going to say that again until he is moved, until he is potentially moved let's say before the Feb. trade deadline. One name that people have thrown out so far when you talk to scouts who they could potentially go to... [Portland Trail Blazers center] Robert Williams III, the return to health, return to the court center in Portland." Valančiūnas has been linked to the Lakers since the offseason and his name has continuously come up for Los Angeles. The veteran big man is currently on a very team-friendly three-year, $30 million deal with the Wizards, making a potential trade between the two sides easier. The big man is averaging 12.5 points, 7.9 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 0.8 blocks per game. Valančiūnas is more of a scoring big man rather than a strong defender but pairing him with star Anthony Davis could do the Lakers wonders. If Los Angeles were to go after Williams III, it would be more for his energy off the bench and defensive presence. Despite being undersized, Williams III is a good defender and strong rebounder. Williams III has played in six games for the Portland Trail Blazers, averaging 10.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.2 steals, and 1.7 blocks per game. His presence behind Davis would benefit the Lakers more but it would likely cost more to land him. Either option would be good for the Lakers if they want to improve their frontcourt before the postseason. Los Angeles wants to maximize the final years of the Davis, LeBron James pairing so adding another center could make a world of difference in the end. The Knights will make their first appearance in the event since recording a two-point loss to Missouri in 2022, while Tulsa's last trip to the Orange Bowl Classic was a loss to Florida State in 2012. UCF (7-2) may have something to prove being away from Addition Financial Arena. The Knights are 7-0 at home, whereas a November trip to the Greenbrier Tip-Off in West Virginia produced an 86-70 loss to Wisconsin and a triple-overtime setback against LSU. The Knights relied heavily on their defense in Sunday's 66-51 win over Tarleton State. After a sluggish start offensively, UCF found its rhythm during a 37-point second half. Jordan Ivy-Curry finished with a game-high 16 points and freshman center Moustapha Thiam collected 10 points, nine rebounds and six blocks. UCF's Big 12 opener draws closer (at Texas Tech, Dec. 31), but head coach Johnny Dawkins remains focused on daily improvement. "I feel a sense of urgency to get better, not with regards to Big 12 play to be quite frank, but every game," Dawkins said. "I don't look too far in the future. Pretty much I've always been in the moment as a player and as a person, and so for me it's about just getting better because it's our standards." Tulsa (4-6) looks to stop a three-game slide following a 70-66 home loss to Southern University last Saturday. Keaston Willis scored in double figures for the sixth time this season, netting a season-high 23 points off the bench. But Isaiah Barnes, one of three Golden Hurricane players to start all 10 games, was injured in the first half and played only eight minutes. To complicate matters, head coach Eric Konkol's team is 0-6 when trailing at halftime. "We got to get some guys healthy that can be healthy for next Saturday (against UCF)," Konkol said. "We got a couple other guys dealing with some different things, but then (also) having some planning to figure out what's the best way going forward for this group." --Field Level MediaHimachal BJP divided in factions creating hurdles in state's progress Sukhu
Elias Petterson and Quinn Hughes will not be making the Vancouver Canucks’ upcoming two-game road trip, according to the head coach, who gave on update on the injured players Sunday. “Petey’s probably a week away, give or take a day here or there,” said Rick Tocchet. “Quinn’s probably week-to-week, that’s kind of, probably the update we have for them.” Both Petterson and Hughes sat out Saturday’s 5-4 overtime loss to the Seattle Kraken in which the Canucks squandered a three-goal lead with less than five minutes remaining. The Canucks did not disclose what type of injuries both players are dealing with. Hughes currently leads the Canucks with 42 points in 34 games. Petterson has 28 points in 34 games. The Canucks begin their road trip Tuesday night in Calgary, followed by a trip to Seattle to play the Kraken on Thursday. The Canucks are currently one point up on the Flames in the standings.Jeremy Clarkson backpedals on previous claim he bought farm for tax reasons
