An Omaha man was arrested on Tuesday and charged with first-degree sexual assault and attempted robbery after a woman reported being assaulted in Benson last week. The man, 21-year-old Dash Lansdale, appeared in court for the first time on Wednesday and was ordered held on 10% of $150,000 bail, meaning he would have to pay $15,000 to be released ahead of trial. According to an arrest affidavit, the woman who reported the assault was walking to her car on the evening of Nov. 19 near the intersection of Maple Street and Military Avenue when she was grabbed from behind. The woman reported that the man reached into her pants and assaulted her, leading to a struggle in which the man also grabbed her breast. The man was chased off by nearby witnesses who came to the woman’s aid, according to a press release from the Omaha Police Department. Video footage was obtained, according to the affidavit, which appeared to corroborate the woman’s description of the assault. The suspect on the video was a white male with medium to light-colored long hair and a bald spot on his crown. After police posted screengrabs of the video to Omaha Crime Stoppers and social media , multiple tips identified Lansdale as the suspect. Lansdale was located at his residence, which was just blocks away from the location of the assault, and taken to police headquarters to be interviewed. He initially denied any involvement and said he was asleep with his girlfriend at the time of the assault. Lansdale’s girlfriend was also interviewed, according to the affidavit, and was shown the still photos from the video. She confronted Lansdale, who admitted to being the person depicted in the video, but said he had intended to rob the woman and did not sexually assault her, according to the affidavit. In a subsequent interview, according to the affidavit, Lansdale admitted to being the person in the video and said he “wondered if he could take the victim’s purse and acted on those thoughts.” He said he approached the woman from behind and attempted to grab her purse, but denied the sexual assault allegations. Lansdale entered a plea of not guilty during his initial appearance on Wednesday. He is set to appear for a preliminary hearing on the charges in January. Multi-sport stadiums are global hubs of glory, hosting iconic events and uniting diverse fans. Each venue tells a unique story, blending historic roots with modern design and versatile facilities. Top multi-sport stadiums worldwide, such as Wembley and Mercedes-Benz Arena, offer cutting-edge, versatile experiences. Stadiums are more than just architectural marvels; they’re the beating hearts of sports. But some venues go beyond serving a single event—they become iconic arenas for multiple disciplines, showcasing their versatility and grandeur on the global stage. From roaring football finals to nail-biting cricket clashes, pulsating rugby battles to high-flying athletic feats, multi-sport stadiums are where legends are made and dreams come alive. Each of these venues tells a unique story. Some boast historic roots, standing as timeless monuments to athletic excellence, while others push the boundaries of modern design with state-of-the-art facilities. They’ve witnessed everything from World Cups to Olympic Games , uniting fans of all backgrounds under their vast roofs in a celebration of human achievement and passion. In this list, we explore the 10 Greatest Multi-Sport Stadiums in the World—venues that have transcended their original purpose to become global hubs of sporting glory. Whether it’s the thundering roars of packed crowds or the adaptability to host events as diverse as concerts and esports, these stadiums embody the spirit of versatility and spectacle. The most incredible football stadiums on the planet - ranked in order. 10 Eden Park Eden Park is renowned as one of the most formidable fortresses in international rugby union, striking fear into visiting sides. The iconic home of New Zealand's All Blacks , the venue has witnessed an extraordinary unbeaten streak spanning 50 consecutive test matches since 1994 - a testament to the team’s dominance on this hallowed turf. Yet, while rugby reigns supreme here, Eden Park is far from a single-sport venue. During the summer months, the stadium transforms into a cricketing arena, having played a pivotal role in the 1992 and 2005 Cricket World Cups. Beyond sports, Eden Park has also embraced its status as a cultural hub, hosting electrifying performances by global superstars such as Coldplay, Billy Joel, and Guns N' Roses, turning the historic ground into a stage for unforgettable moments both on and off the field. 9 FNB Stadium FNB Stadium, also known as Soccer City or The Calabash, is a major football and rugby stadium in Nasrec, near Soweto, Johannesburg, South Africa. Managed by Stadium Management South Africa (SMSA), it serves as the home ground for Kaizer Chiefs F.C. in the South African Premier Soccer League and hosts key matches for the South African national football team. The stadium hosted Nelson Mandela's first speech in Johannesburg following his release from prison in 1990 and was later the venue for his memorial service on December 10, 2013. However, sports fans will recognise it best as the home of the 2010 World Cup final, when Andres Iniesta scored the winning goal . The stadium's exterior is designed to resemble an African pot, with a mosaic of fiery and earthy colours adorning its cladding. A ring of lights encircles the base, creating the effect of fire glowing beneath the pot. Inside, every spectator is seated within 100 meters (330 feet) of the field, ensuring unobstructed views for all. And so, while it may be one of the best multi-sport stadiums, it's also one of the most beautiful venues , too. 8 Melbourne Cricket Ground The Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), often referred to as "The G," would no doubt be much higher on this list if it was ranked on how iconic each venue was. Located in Melbourne, Australia, it is primarily celebrated as a cricketing mecca, hosting international Test matches, One-Day Internationals (ODIs), and T20 games, including the annual Boxing Day Test and marquee tournaments like the ICC Cricket World Cup and T20 World Cup finals. Beyond cricket, though, the MCG is a pivotal venue for Australian Rules Football (AFL), serving as the home of the AFL Grand Final and hosting numerous high-profile matches during the season. It has also welcomed football, including international friendlies and domestic competitions, as well as rugby union and rugby league, such as State of Origin clashes and international tests. Crowds can have a huge impact in football and help to drive their team towards victory. Here are the best stadium atmospheres in world football. 7 Wembley Stadium Forever regarded as the home of football, both for England and worldwide, Wembley Stadium has evolved into much more since replacing its twin towers with the iconic arch in 2001. In addition to hosting the annual FA Cup final, the Champions League finals in 2011, 2013, and 2024, and most of England’s home matches, it has become a hub for a variety of sports. Major boxing events, such as the 2017 Anthony Joshua vs. Wladimir Klitschko fight have been held at Wembley, and the stadium regularly hosts rugby and American football games. It has also become a key stop for top musicians, with artists like Taylor Swift and Oasis selling out the venue in recent years. As far as iconic stadiums go, the 90,000-seat Wembley stands at the top, in a world of its own. GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Wembley Stadium has 2,618 toilets, more than any other venue in the world. 6 Mercedes Benz Arena Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, is one of the most versatile and modern sports and entertainment venues in the world, renowned for its multi-purpose functions. Opened in 2017, the stadium has become a central hub for both MLS outfit Atlanta United and NFL franchise Atlanta Falcons. With its state-of-the-art facilities, including the world’s first retractable roof (which can be retracted within eight minutes) with a 360-degree digital board, Mercedes-Benz Stadium offers unmatched versatility. Whether it’s sports, music, entertainment, or community events, the stadium stands out as one of the most cutting-edge multipurpose venues in the world. In its short existence, it has already hosted college basketball, the 2024 Copa America , the AMA Supercross Championship, and Super Bowl LIII, as well as being named as one of the stadiums in use for the 2025 World Cup. 5 Santiago Bernabeu A decade-long renovation to Real Madrid's Santiago Bernabeu has seen the stadium evolve into a multi-functional colosseum. The existing building has been largely retained and enclosed with a new wraparound facade made of stainless steel louvres. The addition of a retractable roof allows the facility to adapt to weather conditions, while a retractable lawn gives way to a fixed ground slab that allows for a wide range of events beyond football. Not only is the Bernabeu home to 15-time Champions League winners Real Madrid, it has also hosted four finals of such kind, the second leg of the 2018 Copa Libertadores final, as well as the final matches for the 1964 European Nations' Cup and the 1982 FIFA World Cup. Aside from football, the venue is scheduled to host its first NFL match in 2025 as part of the International Series. GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: The Santiago Bernabeu is the first (and only) stadium to host the two most important premier continental cup finals (UEFA Champions League and Copa Libertadores). 4 Stadium Australia The purpose-built Stadium Australia was designed to seat 110,000 spectators during the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games and was completed three months prior to the contract. After the Olympics, using technology not previously applied at an Australian sporting venue, the Stadium’s seating arrangements were reconfigured to accommodate differently shaped sporting grounds and provide 80,000 seats. These reconfiguration works, completed by Multiplex, also transformed the Stadium into a true multipurpose arena. As well as playing centre stage for the 2000 Olympics, the stadium has hosted the 2003 Rugby World Cup final, the 2015 AFC Asian Cup final, as well as numerous games in the 2023 Women's World Cup , which saw the Matildas reach the semi-final, before crashing out to England. 3 Tottenham Hotspur Stadium As the newest stadium to be built in the Premier League and one of the most expensive , the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is, to many fans, the perfect venue for football. There isn't a single seat in the house that doesn't have a nigh-on perfect view, and because of how steep either end is, the Tottenham fans have no problem generating and maintaining an electric atmosphere. However, what really sets this 62,850-seater bastion apart from its predecessors is its transformational pitch. Its two different surfaces mean it is the first and only stadium to be designed specially for NFL games outside of North America and is officially the home of the NFL in the UK. See the full process below: Stadiums are an essential part of any team in any sport and new ones are being built at a quick rate. Just which new stadiums are nearly completed? 2 Sapporo Dome The Sapporo Dome, situated in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan, is a remarkable stadium that opened in 2001 but has all the elements of a stadium of the future. Designed to accommodate football and baseball games, it features a unique system where the pitch can be switched between grass for football and an artificial surface for baseball, while its seats are also moveable. Its dome-shaped structure is an architectural marvel, providing a weather-proof environment for a variety of events, including concerts and exhibitions, alongside sports. A set of main bowl seats on one end of the dome also retracts, and the football pitch is slid into the stadium. The lower bowl is then rotated 90 degrees. The conversion from football to baseball occurs in reverse. Due to the retraction of seats, the Stadium has a capacity of 40,476 for baseball games, while it can house just over 42,000 spectators for football. See the remarkable process below: 1 Kai Tak Sports Park In the world of multi-purpose stadiums, Kai Tak Sports Park feels like a bit of a cheat code. Rising on the site of the old Kai Tak Airport, the state-of-the-art complex has transformed the landscape into a vibrant sporting metropolis. With an area of around 28 hectares, it is set to be the largest sports venue in the world when it opens in the first quarter of 2025. Costing HK$30 billion (£3.026b) it will have a 50,000-seat Main Stadium with a retractable roof, a 10,000-seat Indoor Sports Centre, and a 5,000-seat Public Sports Ground. The facility has been designed to meet the standards of major international events with customisable staging and seating configurations that cater to various events and crowd sizes. From bowling to badminton to swimming and football, the complex is geared to take all the best bits from the stadiums before it and take it to a whole new level.A former NFL star has accused Vice President Kamala Harris of being intoxicated during her speech to Americans on Wednesday. Harris, who lost the 2024 presidential election to Donald Trump in early November, gave a speech to dejected Democrats on Wednesday. However, many are taking to social media to talk about her appearance in the speech. The full speech has gone viral on social media, as it was posted on X, formerly known as Twitter. “I just have to remind you: Don’t you ever let anybody take your power from you,” Harris stated in the clip posted to the Democratic Party’s account. “You have the same power that you did before November 5, and you have the same purpose that you did. And you have the same ability to engage and inspire, so don’t ever let anybody or any circumstance take your power from you.” Democratic National Party. Former NFL star Antonio Brown was among those accusing Harris of being intoxicated during her speech. "Drunk Auntie on Thanksgiving...." he wrote. NFL fans are weighing in on the accusation. "She started before the Lions game came on, I know that look, I’ve seen it in the mirror by game two," one fan wrote. "She’s definitely gonna be the one making a scene, stumbling around, calling everyone fascist until she starts crying and telling you how much she loves you before she passes out in backyard," one fan added. "Look's exactly like my sixth grade reading teacher, Mrs. Gillis, who had a bottle of "Listerine," that she sipped out of all day," one fan added. "Imagine the Thanksgiving dinner chaos with Kamala Harris at the table! Culture clash or comedy gold?" one fan added. Vice President @KamalaHarris ’ message to supporters. pic.twitter.com/x5xMUGTtkz Brown, of course, isn't one to talk about public appearances. The former NFL star last played in the league in 2022, when he ran off the field at Metlife Stadium with his shirt off. "I took a seat on the sideline and my coach came up to me, very upset, and shouted, 'What's wrong with you? What's wrong with you?' I told him, 'It's my ankle.' But he knew that. It was well-documented and we had discussed it," Brown said of his behavior. "He then ordered me to get on the field. I said, 'Coach, I can't.' He didn't call for medical attention. Instead, he shouted at me, 'YOU'RE DONE!' while he ran his finger across his throat. Coach was telling me that if I didn't play hurt, then I was done with the Bucs." He added: "I know we were losing to the Jets and that was frustrating for all of us. But I could not make football plays on that ankle. Yes, I walked off the field. But there's a major difference between launching from the line and taking hits, compared to jogging off the field with a rush of emotions going through your mind. I am reflecting on my reaction, but there was a trigger. The trigger was someone telling me that I'm not allowed to feel pain." Brown, 36, played in the NFL from 2010-2021. He was a five-time All-Pro, but he's clearly gone off the deep end in recent years.

NEW YORK — Stoli Group USA, the owner of the namesake vodka , has filed for bankruptcy as it struggled to contend with slowing demand for spirits, a major cyberattack that has snarled its operations and several years of fighting Russia in court. The company in its bankruptcy filing said it is “experiencing financial difficulties” and lists between $50 million and $100 million in liabilities. Stoli vodka and Kentucky Owl bourbon will continue to be available on store shelves while the company navigates the Chapter 11 process, which only pertains to its U.S. business. Until 2022, Stoli was sold as Stolichnaya in the United States, which loosely translates to “capital city” in Russian. The company shortened its title following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and boycotts against Russian-branded vodkas . Stoli Group’s founder, Russian-born billionaire Yuri Shefler, was exiled from that nation in 2000 because of his opposition to President Vladimir Putin. Intel announced on December 2 that CEO Pat Gelsinger has resigned after a difficult stint at the company. The once-dominant chipmaker’s stock cratered as it missed the AI boom and was surpassed by most of its rivals. The liquor has long been marketed as a Russian vodka, but its production facilities have been in Latvia for several decades. Stoli Group is a unit of Luxembourg-based SPI Group, which owns other spirit and wine brands. “The Stoli Group has been targeted by the Russian Federation since it was formed nearly 25 years ago,” said Stoli Group CEO Chris Caldwell in a statement. “Earlier this year the company and our owner were both named by the Russian state as ‘extremist groups working against Russia’s interests.’” Its ongoing legal battle with the Russia government has forced Stoli to “spend dozens of millions of dollars on this long-term court battle across the globe with the Russian authorities,” according to its court filing. Caldwell also said that Stoli’s global operations has been a “victim of a malicious cyber attack” that has forced the company to operate “entirely manually while the systems are rebuilt.” A slowdown in demand for alcohol has crushed several company’s bottom lines following the pandemic when people were stuck at home and stocked up. Stoli’s filings said that it has seen a “decline and softening of demand for alcohol and spirits products post-Covid and especially beginning in 2023 and continuing into 2024.” Stoli Group USA, maker of Stoli vodka, has filed for bankruptcy due to slowing demand for spirits, a major cyberattack, and ongoing legal battles with Russia. By Sherin Elizabeth Varghese (Reuters) – Gold prices slipped on Friday as elevated U.S. Treasury yields dimmed non-yielding bullion’s allure in a holiday-thinned week, with markets focused on President-elect Donald Trump’s return to office and the potential impact of his inflationary policies on the Fed’s 2025 outlook. Spot gold fell 0.7% to $2,614.91 per ounce, as of 12:10 p.m. ET (1708 GMT). Bullion has lost 0.2% this week. U.S. gold futures were down 0.9% to $2,630.60. “Treasury yields are a little bit higher here, and gold will remain under pressure through the end of today ... we are here in a thin holiday market,” said Bob Haberkorn, senior market strategist at RJO Futures. The dollar index headed for a fourth-straight week of gains, reducing gold’s appeal for holders of other currencies, while the benchmark U.S. 10-year yields were trading near their highest level since May 2, which they hit on Thursday. [USD/] [US/] So far this year, gold has surged 28%, hitting a record high of $2,790.15 on Oct. 31. The rally was fuelled by the Federal Reserve rate-easing cycle and heightened global tensions. Most analysts remain bullish for 2025, despite the Fed now projecting fewer rate cuts. They believe pockets of geopolitical tensions around the globe will remain elevated, central banks will continue their robust gold-buying spree, and political uncertainty will linger as Trump returns to the White House in January. His proposed tariffs and protectionist trade policies are also expected to spark potential trade wars, adding to gold’s allure as a safe-haven asset. “Next year with central-bank buying, I can see gold topping $3,000 at some point, probably by the summer, if gold continues on the pace that it’s been on,” Haberkorn said. Gold traditionally shines during periods of economic and geopolitical turmoil and thrives in a lower interest-rate environment. Lions head into NFC title game rematch vs. 49ers seeking top seed more than revenge
President Joe Biden's administration is urging Ukraine to quickly increase the size of its military by drafting more troops and revamping its mobilization laws to allow for the conscription of troops as young as 18. A senior Biden administration official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss the private consultations, said Wednesday that the outgoing Democratic administration wants Ukraine to lower the mobilization age to 18 from the current age of 25 to help expand the pool of fighting-age men available to help a badly outnumbered Ukraine in its nearly three-year-old war with Russia. The official said “the pure math” of Ukraine's situation now is that it needs more troops in the fight. The White House has pushed more than $56 billion in security assistance to Ukraine since the start of Russia's February 2022 invasion and expects to send billions more to Kyiv before Biden leaves office in less than months. But with time running out, the Biden White House is also sharpening its viewpoint that Ukraine has the weaponry it needs and now must dramatically increase its troop levels if it's going to stay in the fight with Russia. The official said the Ukrainians believe they need about 160,000 additional troops, but the U.S. administration believes they probably will need more than that. More than 1 million Ukrainians are now in uniform, including National Guard and other units. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has also been hearing concerns from allies in other Western capitals that Ukraine has a troop level problem and not an arms problem, according to European officials who requested anonymity to discuss the sensitive diplomatic conversations. The European allies have also stressed that the lack of depth means that it may soon become untenable for Ukraine to continue to operate in Russia’s Kursk border region that Ukraine seized this year. The situation in Kursk has become further complicated by the arrival of thousands of North Korean troops who have come to help Moscow try to claw back the land. The stepped-up push on Ukraine to strengthen its fighting ranks also comes as Ukraine braces for President-elect Donald Trump to take office on Jan. 20. The Republican said he would bring about a swift end to the war and has raised uncertainty about whether his administration would continue the vital U.S. military support for Ukraine. “There are no easy answers to Ukraine’s serious manpower shortage, but lowering the draft age would help,” said Bradley Bowman, senior director of the Center on Military and Political Power at the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies. "These are obviously difficult decisions for a government and society that has already endured so much due to Russia’s invasion.” Ukraine has taken steps to broaden the pool of draft-eligible men, but the efforts have only scratched the surface against a much larger Russian military. In April, Ukraine’s parliament passed a series of laws, including lowering its draft-eligible age for men from 27 to 25, aimed at broadening the universe of men who could be called on to join the grinding war. Those laws also did away with some draft exemptions and created an online registry for recruits. They were expected to add about 50,000 troops, far short of what Zelenskyy said at the time was needed. Conscription has been a sensitive matter in Ukraine throughout the war. Russia’s own problems with adequate troop levels and planning early in the war prevented Moscow from taking full advantage of its edge. But the tide has shifted and the U.S. says the Ukrainian shortage can no longer be overlooked. Some Ukrainians have expressed worry that further lowering the minimum conscription age and taking more young adults out of the workforce could backfire by further harming the war-ravaged economy. The official added that the administration believes that Ukraine can also optimize its current force by more aggressively dealing with soldiers who desert or go absent without leave. Associated Press White House correspondent Zeke Miller contributed reporting.
